Since 2006 a Warcraft movie has been on the tip of every fans' tongue, not to mention with Sam Raimi being heavily linked with the job, but yesterday and for what has seemed like an eternity of will it and wont its', Director Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) tweeted "Going to start shooting the movie tomorrow. Crikey! Better find my specs!" and 20 hours later followed up with "First day all done! Best day of the shoot so far! ...technically, also the worst."
The rumour mill of a Warcraft movie has been circulating for nearly a decade with only tiny quotes from Blizzard staff at various Blizzcon's. In 2008 Chris Metzen of Blizzard was quoted station the film would have to be action packed and violent saying "we're definitely not going to make a G or a PG version of this. It's not PillowfightCraft."
In my opinion, The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit universe have currently monopolised the cinema market when it comes to Humans vs Orc's so if the Warcraft movie is to stand out on silver screens' as much as it has on bedroom desktop monitors, then it will have to be pretty eye openeing and outlandishly original in violence to be successful.
There's still a few years to go until we can expect to see it on the big screen, with a set release date of March 11, 2016 but you can enjoy a few pieces of concept art over at ComingSoon.net
Until then i now have the sudden urge to update my World Of Warcraft, strip down to my pants and close the whole world off and sit in my room for hours of the day while i run around killing innocent virtual boar...
Do you think World Of Warcraft can be as successful on the silver screen as it has on our PC monitors, ruling the roost of the MMO world?
