Ask any Star Wars fan what was wrong with the prequels, and their response can usually be summed up in three words: Jar Jar Binks.

Yup, the clumsy Gungan became such a staple of hatred for the franchise that George Lucas will probably never be forgiven. The late singer Wesley Willis even recorded the following song to express his distaste for Jar Jar.

You may remember that in Attack of the Clones, Jar Jar pressured the Senate into granting emergency powers to Chancellor Palpatine. Because what could possibly go wrong if Palpatine had more power. It's not like he's a Sith Lord or anything. Oh wait...

So yeah, due to his unintentional role in the rise of the Galactic Empire, Jar Jar is pretty much as hated by the residents of the Star Wars universe as he is by fans of the franchise. So what's a Gungan to do when everyone's out for his blood?

He returns to his home planet of Naboo and becomes a clown, of course. A literal clown. I don't think that would be particularly hard for him. He performs his clown routine twice a day by a fountain, and whilst the adults avoid him, a young refugee boy named Mapo takes a liking to Jar Jar and even strikes up a conversation. Which leads him to say the following:

"Meesa Jar Jar...Jar Jar makin some uh-oh mistakens...Desa hisen Naboo tink I help the uh-oh Empire."

He then stares sadly into the distance, no doubt reminiscing about how he inadvertently led to the rise of a regime that caused millions of deaths. We'll always hate you, Jar Jar.

This was revealed in the new Canon novel Star Wars Aftermath: Empire's End by Chuck Wendig, which you can buy on Amazon. Thanks to Mashable for the heads up.

It kind of seems like Disney don't want to put Jar Jar in any future movies because of the backlash it will bring them (he's been pretty much absent from Star Wars merchandise since they purchased the franchise back in 2012), so they asked Wendig to quietly come up with an explanation for his absence to tie up loose ends.

So yeah, if you're a fan of Jar Jar, don't expect to see him showing up in any new films or Star Wars merchandise. He's too busy clowning around on Naboo.

Kind of surprised they even mention him. It's so long  since we last saw him in Episode 3, I just assumed he died during the reign of the empire.

And I don't like to believe the gungan that screams at the end of the RotJ special edition to be him. I don't think it's ever been confirmed since pretty much all gungans speak with broken English people just associate that dialect with him.

I love Jar Jar, dude is hilarious! Palpatine was gonna take over the galaxy regardless, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi already existed so.........There is way more wrong with the prequels than Jar Jar, Anakin Skywalker for one, the whiny piece of ****, at least we know where Luke got it from and George Lucas. You know why Empire and Jedi are the two, in my opinion, best Star Wars movies cause George Lucas didn't direct them. George Lucas is to blame for the prequels and the terrible special editions and the fifteen, sarcastic, other versions of A New Hope, Empire and Jedi. Quit blaming Jar Jar

Oh my god such bs.I'm not a Jar Jar fan at all,but that is the best the minds at Disney can come up with?Seriously skipping that book. Can't believe how stupid that is.I've always disliked Disney's handling of the property and this is why.Such a waste of time.Guess the joke's on us.

I don't know if skipping the book is a good idea. The Aftermath book also did this and showed small excerpts from around the galaxy to see how it's progressing after the fall of the empire that doesn't correlate with the books main characters and their story.

I don't expect jar jar to do much more in the actual book than what this line says, it will still probably be worth a look, The Aftermath series is one of the few good Star Wars Novels disney has cranked out, I wouldn't skip it for what is probably equivalent to a page of content.
