It does not seem that long ago when I first joined this site that I remember the anticipation and build up to the release of Prometheus. So, I am now more than happy that Paradise would appear to be firmly in the pipeline. Much has happened since the release of Prometheus and there has certainly been more quality Sci fi movies brought out. As much as I love Sci-Fi and its use of dystopian futures, there is always the risk that you can have too much of a good thing. This is where imo, Prometheus may have created something of a rod for its own back. As well as answering lots of questions raised in Prometheus, Paradise will have to present something different and unique. It will have to present something much more than a woman and an android going to an alien planet. Personally, this is where I feel Ridley has the ability to shine very brightly. Let’s just hope the studio execs don’t dumb down any of his ideas. Going back before Prometheus I remember various discussion about Ridley wanting to do two movies from the word go. This would mean that Ridley may have possibly wanted his own trilogy. If that is the case, I feel that Ridley has had a very long time to plan Paradise and has he done what George Lucas did with Star Wars in waiting for technology to be at a point where he can deliver the vision he has in mind. There is something to be said about having a director with vision at the helm who knows how to mix location with technology and have the ability to put a different slant on things. That said, I am more than impressed to see that out of the various Sci-Fi movies that been released, the two that stand out for me are Prometheus and Elysium. Interesting to note that acommon backdrop to both films has been about a dying man looking for more life. This makes me wonder if Blomkamp has had more than an eager eye looking at Ridley’s camp. Of course there is much more to both than just that. I would also like to refer to this link. I also think the release dates of both films was highly tactical About that thread. Here’s to Paradise, and what could be an interesting alien dystopia.

Cheers, Batchpool. I'm keeping hopes along the same lines and agree Ridleys unique vision is what made Prometheus so singularly fantastic and awakened (in me) a massive appetite for MORE. I do not cease to be blown away by it, and if we get a trilogy out of this with RS directing it'll be like a gift.

Preach on brother...We need a definite Ridley Scott Sci-Fi trilogy just to make those hyper star wars fans jealous. They alsways show Star Wars vs. Star Trek well what about a trifecta of great genres. Prometheus vs SW vs ST....

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

I'd hate it if it turns out this way but I guess the most likely thing is that we'll get to "Paradise" and find out that it's been infested with other aliens who destroyed the original inhabitants or enslaved them or whatever close to that. However, I personally wish that it really turns out to be a paradise for the aliens but then gradually things start happening or Shaw gets involved with some problems there that the story takes a different turn -like Prometheus- and become more horror/action in its latter parts. I wish the film maintains a drama/mystery first half, leaving the horror/thriller to the second half. I enjoyed Prometheus so much because it felt like a conspiracy theory film about aliens more than just a sci-fi flick about aliens.

@ Psyche I think you’ve hit the magical ingredient straight on the head. It is the feeling of a conspiracy working in the background that makes Prometheus more than just a Sci Fi flick. The more I think about it, even Alien played to that feeling of a set up. I totally agree that it is something that should not be lost in Paradise.
