So what did you think of the Proto-type Alien and the very end of the movie. What are some of your theories as to how this underdeveloped Alien will grow and evolve to become the Xenomorph we all know from the previous 4 films?

False teeth are not scary on Aliens. :( And it was not only at the end, it was shown right from the beginning:The Deacon (Proto Xeno?) was shown to us right from the beginning of the movie

It`s looks ridiculous.

I think its cool. I think it needs to impregnate a human or space jockey before it becomes the xenomorph. Or maybe it will become a queen?

What do you mean it looks rediculous. It is not a finished Zenomorph. Thats the whole point of these particular aliens. I am really sad that people are so critcal because there expectations where not met.

i thought it looked crude, and puppet like reminded me a bit of the infant creature in Alien3, i think Scott should have just completely bit the bullet and had Giger design ALL of the creatures we see i am well aware, that since this is the evolution of what could possibly become the alien entity i have grown to love in ALIEN, at the same time, it just looked dodgy to me but, what's done is done perhaps if there is a sequel (of which there NEEDS to be), that Ridley will secure Giger for any / all creature design Engineer's* willing...

I thought it looked TERRIBLE when I first seen it LOL...I thought it was a joke! The teeth looked very fake and just....cheesy. I thought the whole thing looked like a cheap puppet from beetlejuice or something. That was the NOT a nice moment for me seeing that thing. BUT! Looking at it now in that gif, it really does look OK to me. Dont ask me why the sudden change of opinion lol

@Ripley Clone 8 This "proto alien" is nothing of the sort. It's definitely a xeno of some kind but watching the chain of events it just seemed to be a variation. The black goo seems to instill certain inherent qualities to it's creations, like acid blood, an instinct to constrict and penetrate and so on. There's also the "altar" to consider which not only shows what looks like a xeno but also a facehugger. I have no doubt that this black goo is somehow related to the xenos we're familiar with but this thing in Prometheus is more like a cousin to them and not a predecessor.

Yeah, I agree, the term 'proto' shouldn't be used in conjunction with that creature at all, seems like an attempt to shoehorn the timeline and make some interesting questions easier to digest, like a teething biscuit.

I agree with the other posts. This alien is not the 'proto' alien. It's just a different Xenomorph entirely. They already have a mural of the Xenomorph we all know and love in their alter room. So, the black round headed Xenomorph already exists. This was just some mutated Xenomorph. I totally loved the new take. I've read about Space jockey Xenomorphs, and am glad they showed one. From the Xenopedia (http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Mala%27kak_Xenomorph) I can't wait to see more from this Xenomorph. I hope they include it somehow in the rest of the Prometheus series. :)

This mutation will continue to mutate and each time it does, it become stronger, better, faster and almost unstoppable

I thought it looked fine. Does it look as good as the classic Alien that we all know? No, but I don't think it needs to. I'm in the group that thinks this is not a "proto-xeno" but is and entirely new creature. Yes, it has similarities to the classic xeno, but they are not one in the same and probably have little to do with each other. And also, we can assume that the xeno from the end of the film is still a "baby." Like a chestburster grows into an adult xeno, this thing too will grow into an adult... something. Jockey-Xeno, or whatever you want to call it. It is an interesting creature and I hope it reappears in the inevitable sequel.

I thought it looked beautiful, actually I'm surprised that it wasn't designed by Giger, because... I don't know, its hands, its head, its body, everything was perfect, scary in some way, abominable, aberrant, crude, and beautiful. The first thought I had when I saw it, was that it was the First Queen. Then I realized that Scott doesn't actually like the concept of a queen in the alien species, and I also realized that it's impossible that it was the first Xenomorph; clearly there were others; all the dead engineers in the ground had their chest broken. And the mural... It would have been perfect if it was the first Xenomorph, because of the way it was generated, it would have been almost like an accident: the ooze infecting Holloway, he was supposed to die, but had sex with Shaw, and he passed to her something, not the infection, he gave her a son, that "trilobite" what could have been the first facehugger, and it, used the Engineer as a host, and then, the Xenomorph emerges. It would have been like an accident, the Xenomorph being something aberrant produced by the black liquid in an attempt to survive, to be something, something that wasn't supposed to be. The concept that the Xenomorph is that thing, so aberrant, just gives me a boner. I actually don't like the idea of the Xenomorph being created so deliberately.

I thought it looked amazing. I really liked the design and all. I'm guessing this is NOT an exacto Proto-Xeno but how one would look like. In prometheus we saw the process of how the xenos were made! I would have prefered Giger to design it but he's an older gentleman now and I guess he doesn't want to work as hard anymore which is completly understandable! I do hope he designs the adult form which I believe will be HUGE!

I am sorry to post mostly something negative, but why should i lie : - ) Well i found the alien coming out of the engineers dead body misplaced. To me there was NO sense at all in that scene. To me the Alien was TOO BIG to have enough place inside the body of that engineer - unrealistic. My first thought was that somebody of the studio gave an order to put some alien-like creature inside of the movie, if it fits or not. And it does not fit IMO. Ahh still frustrated about this move.. will this EVER end? : - )

Sorry, I know it has a purpose, but I didn't like it - at all. I was disappointed with it. Too familiar (to me, it looked like one of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park). Ugh :( They should not have shown it standing up. Should have just left it laying on the ground. Leaving one to wonder... That final shot - teeth/second jaw - was just too cheesy to me. Again, so familiar...

That alien is not a proto-anything. The thing shown in the mural on the wall is the same creature so they have to have been around before.

I kinda got confuse with your term "proto xeno". This type of alien came from black goo drink by human transfer sexually and become proto choke hugger beast. The core of choke hugger enter to engineer body and evolve into what you call proto xeno, right? Now the snake that enter to Milferd body become what? Because it will be a different breed of alien. And the goo that enter to engineer that cause them to burst are what? Base on these, at least we have three different type of alien. Hell, i don't even know what to name them.

i can't see immediately how this proto alien evolved into the alien we know from the other films. I'd like to agree with wilv that this proto alien's more of a "cousin" than an ancestor to the aliens. However, the circumstances of how the proto alien occured are quite unlikely to have happened before the proto-alien was created to form the alien and face hugger represented by the carvings on the wall. think about it, an "engineer" would have had to assimulated the black goo (which presumabley genetically modifies all cells somehow), then fucked another engineer ON THAT SAME PLANET which was a GROUND FOR EXPERIMENTATION of supposedly BIOWEAPONS, and not for making ur self at home and setting up a little engineer family. Unless ofcourse they intended to create this alien by doing so. infact, i'm starting to think that's it, but the alien produced from that wouldn't be so different to the proto alien since the engineers are meant to be human more or less. but who am i to say? i have no idea exactly how different the engineers' DNA is to humans so meh.

I recon tho, that the engineers deffinately set out to create the alien, but eventually it/they must have obviously broke free and taken over at some point and possibley stowed away on a spaceship while the planet was being evacuated, hence why no aliens were found on the planet. this leads me to think that the alien was genetically modified further from a proto alien created, similar to the one at the end of prometheus and created under similar circumstances (engineer afflicted by the goo screwed another engineer and had a proto-face hugger baby). and maybe it broke free because it was just too good, they made it too dangerous.

we don't know what anything in this Lindelof-Scott co-production is, DO WE? I mean, let's be honest with ourselves for, oh, just another 4.3 microseconds before stumbling back into denial that we know what it's all about. Eh?

We have to remember the ambiguity of the movie. We also have to consider which do we ignore or do we take all on board. 1) What we see in this movie. 2) The events of Alien 3) The comments made by Ridley and Lindeloff Your see the movie shows a Mural that shows a Xeno looking Organism to me it does not look exactly like the Xeno, but then it does not look exactly like the Deacon but it does to me resemble the Deacon more than anything. We see in the Mural what appears to be Face Huggers that are on the faces of humanoid lifeforms. Is there a purpose why these are positioned bellow the Xeno type image? Does this mean they worship the Xeno, is this showing the Face Hugger coming from the Xeno type Mural or vice versa? There are clues all around that lead to maybe the Xeno well Face Hugger being around prior to the Deacon at the end. Maybe the Mural could be a prophecy of some kind and thus depicts the Deacon and how it is connected to the Eggs and Face Hugger making it a Proto Xeno. The only clues to this are its appearance compared to the Mural, but how does this thing end up creating Eggs that end up on LV 426? At the end of Prometheus its hard to see how that could happen. Looking at the events of Prometheus it would be safe to say that the Xeno from Alien/Aliens had been around prior to the Deacon at the end. The only thing that would otherwise place it as a Proto Xeno are the comments by Ridley and Lindeloff.. they was. Its about how Mommy meets Daddy Its about the Progenitor. Both hint that the events of Prometheus have some connection to the creation of the Xeno, and Mommy and Daddy must mean the Trilobite and Engineer Scene or Shaw and Holloway. But then there are other comments by Ridley that contradict the above, and thats when he says and hints the Derelict and its Cargo have been on LV 426 for a very long time in Alien and thus there before the events of Prometheus. So is one a Red Herring? will we be told.... or is it all a game to keep us all guessing and left to be ambiguous. For the record i feel the Deacon is a new species that has become into existence, via the series of events we saw in Prometheus and it is indeed the Xeno some how that is the Progenitor to the Deacon.

My theory which is not FACT! Is that the Deacon as shown in Prometheus came about as a series of events from certain contact with the Black Substance in the Urns. I think that they already came across or created the Xeno Organism but they looked for a safer way to store and deploy the Bio Weapon and that using the same method that they used to seed life by breaking down the Engineers body matter, they did the same with the Xeno and collected the resulting matter to be stored inside the Urns. Engineer + Goo = Substance that = mutation of life to = Mankind and other complex life on Earth. Thus Xeno + Goo = Substance thats stored in Urns that = mutates life to = Organism that carries Xeno DNA and Traits.

I have. No complaints about this xeno I agree it can't be a "proto" because a infant xeno takes on the traits of its host so it's difference in look is because it came from something other than a human I loved the movie personally but only have one complaint what exactly is the black goo because sometimes it causes things to die at a melecular level and other times it mutates them like with that snake thing and the man who's name escapes me right now and also IDE like to know how this goo on top of all of this can also create a being like "cuddles" I jst dnt understand what exactly that goo is
