AdminPraetorianApr-05-2012 2:13 PM@Outlander; Isn't Prometheus set years before Alien?
FREEZE!
Co-AdminMemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 3:09 PMNice thread! One of the best I've read so far, keep it up gang!
Also, If the characters in Prometheus learn how to regenerate from death we are in for a Wild ride!!!

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:11 PMOh and the eggs and older look of the derelict are explained by the fact that it was an older technology. Now the ships are more advanced, and ampules have replaced actual organic eggs.
I think that someone on the Prometheus realizes the potiential of this DNA material and steals some of it.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:21 PMIf the derelict is a hundred years old, it doesn't matter if Prometheus is before Alien, the ships in Prometheus can still be newer, built decades after the derelict lands on LV-426.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:21 PMNice take.. Its cool how 100 different people come up with 100 different possible plots. It all adds to the mix.
The newly released Facebook site pics gave me another head scratcher though.. The interior of the actual "temple mountain" if you will REALLY look like the interior of a HIVE. Could just be nothing more than coincidence? But I dont know anymore.

Yes Proemtheus is set years before Alien.
But, if this progression has been going on for millenia, then a previous King's ship landed om LV-426, years before both films.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:43 PMYeah man, good theory. Perfect explanation for the King speech in the beginning. Imagine they bury the kings like they do pharaohs and separate their organs for the afterlife, but what if they could actually come back? You wonder what other traditions and rituals humans might have been copying from the engineers.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:44 PMDig it.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:48 PMAccording to this quote by the executive producer:
“Ridley was inspired by everything from the Nazca Lines in Peru, which are these vast Earth sculptures can only be seen from the air, to cave paintings in France, to ancient Egypt and ancient Mayan civilisations. We’re pushing beyond what’s been found thus far and speculating about what maybe found in the future.”
and what civilization has pharoahs?

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 2:55 PM@Biehn_Bandit
"..what civilization has pharaohs?"
Definitely not Egyptian. Pyramids are found all over Egypt but the Egyptians did not build the pyramids.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 3:20 PMPretty cool. Some good screenplays being written right here!

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 3:47 PMEgypt didn't have pharoahs? Are you being sarcastic?

MemberDeaconApr-05-2012 4:33 PMlol so many posibilities we just dont know where this movie is going.
Only things that can be concluded are.
1) We find Star Chart that leads to that Planet (i think the Ancient Civilisations and Titans Myths are key here, as they apear as Large 10ft Humaniods... who created us. sound familiar to the Blue Guy/Space Jockey Engineers.
2) There are a few images and scenes of Blue Man/Jockey that seem to be same size 9ft and points to the Space Jockey being Blue Guys in Suits.
3) There apears to be a Worm/Eeal/Leech type Organism that gets into a Crew Suit, it apears that at least two crew become infected and mutate but is it Holloway or Fifield who that Eel thing gets into the suit.
4) Somehow Shaw has a Organism Growing inside her but not like normal Chest Burster but actually like a Human Hybrid Embrio i.e a Pregnancy, and this Organism is taken from out of her.
5) There is a scene where some of the crew are trying to destroy/burn something and the mutant Fifield is trying to Stop them, or its it Fifield they are trying to Burn.
6) We are left with the fact that they (being maybe Space Jockeys) for some reason are setting off to Earth with some Cargo that could end Mankind.
There will be more things i have not mentioned.
But the thing is what we dont know, and why?
Does the Organisms/Infections occur because the crew tamper with the ampoules, is the scene by the Water Fall at the begining of the movie or end and what does it mean.
There are so many ifs, buts and maybes and i do think the actual movie will go on and suprise us in many areas and maybe be a little thinking outside the box and make us think.
Why did we not think of that? Or we never saw that comming.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 4:47 PMawesome, and it's what I've said all along as well, that the Derelict's signal was a WARNING to STAY AWAY, the Cargo Had been breached. Not an SOS. SOS signals do not repeat at intervals of 12 seconds. Edit: Also in the directors cut we later found out it was what appeared to be a voice recorded warning.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 4:54 PMInteresting theory Outlander. I like it!
Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-05-2012 5:17 PMFunny Sparky I seem to remember getting into a heated debate with you months back where I was saying the signal was a warning to tell others to stay away but you was adamant it was a SOS to his own kind for assistance?!?

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:30 PM@ Outlander
I think you pretty much have it figured out.
I can't shake the feeling that the blue guy is alright (benevolent). I know Noomi seems pretty scared of the short blue guy in the clip but maybe mistaking him as the bad guy is why "we were so wrong" and not because of the invitation/warning back home. It would be cool to give us all the impression, through the trailers, that he is bad and totally dupe everyone.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:32 PMlol snorky, I knew there was something going on there...lol...but I do remember suggesting that here or that we get to the bottom of what it was anyways once and for all and the the voice sounded like a warning to me...I couldn't win no matter what I said...lol...but my apologies for not having my facts straight there...lol...I just wanted to know what it was for sure and now we think we do. I did 100% say though that it was a Message Meant for His Own Race to Stay away now that you mention it and that Cargo had been breached...I did say that 100%.
Biehn_Bandit
MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:35 PMkurt, I agree with you. The blue guy benevolent, or at least indifferent and practical. Someone put forth the idea that in the scene with DAvid standing in the middle of the star map and the jockey walking towards him, that they might be working together toward some goal.

MemberTrilobiteApr-05-2012 5:35 PMLOL, things haven't gotten any easy have they, the more we are shown the less we seem to know!

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:38 PM"things haven't gotten any easy have they, the more we are shown the less we seem to know!" - So true Snorky, so very true....

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:44 PMI think we got it pretty well pegged right now.
Kings race dies...the goo was the missing link in fact.
lmfao
they try to warn humans
humans don't listen or misinterpret message
humans take some vials
Engineers decide to punish both the crew by allowing them to fool hardedly trigger one of the vials for xenomorph terrafroming creation
and decide it's high time to terraform earth -
everyone on the crew gets eaten alive as the creature "becomes" save for David and/or Vickers
company crashes and strands derelict on LV-426 somehow as it's trying to leave for earth.
I'd say that's "prolly" pretty damn close to what we're gonna see.
wouldn't you?
LMFAO
BigDave
MemberDeaconApr-05-2012 5:45 PMAs far as the warning or sos it could be both aimed at the other Jockeys.
Forgeting about Aliens or this movie but looking just at Alien what we have is a Ship that contains a Cargo that is those Eggs and we all know what those Eggs can do.
Why the Blue Myst/Field around them if they was layed there at a latter date.
Nope the Pilot of the Derelict must have known about the Cargo, and that Blue Field is there to maybe keep the Eggs in some kind of Stasis.
So your carrying a Cargo of Eggs that contain a Organism with deadly potential, and you either come into difficulty with your ship and its running out of power or going to crash. Or one of the Organisms or a few escape and as your pretty much secured to your Chair you have to set out a becon.
Maybe to warn your other members of your race that your mission is compremised, so as that the other Space Jockey know where your ship is downed and that potential containment failure of the Cargo has occured.
We would do the same if say the US was working on a Virus Bio Weapon and transporting it via a plane or ship and the ship/plane crashes and the Containment of the Virus Bio Weapon is compremised.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:49 PMcomes down to that age old question,
what came first? The Chestburster or the Eggs???
LMFAO.
the eggs or something that laid them there or was it a chestburster from the Engineer we found in Alien? There is in fact a big hole, could have been a smaller burnt one first that got made wider by something else going through it let alone a human...
kurt
MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 5:52 PMMaybe it's Weyland and his bodygaurds that are stealing the ship. Weyland wants to be God so he tries to steal the ship with the jars near the end. That's why "they're leaving" and not "he's leaving". That would explain the small stature of the pilot in the SJ suite. It's Weyland. They have to stop him from taking the mutagen goop back home to Earth in his attemp to become godlike. Okay, I'm grabbing at straws here...
kurt
MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 6:00 PM...or is it grasping at straws? Either way; straws.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 6:00 PMlmao I Like it...Snorky would tell you it's too "avp'ish" though lol...and I think he'd be right.
