MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 7:26 PMI think they will show her at a young age losing her father or some other traumatic incident, and the result of this will be her deep seated religious beliefs.
Her faith being challenged will be a central theme in Prometheus, evidenced by the fact she thinks the pictographs represent an invitation to visit the creators, and then by the end she's screaming "DIE" in desperation, horror, and anger at one of those beings.

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 7:31 PMis there an element of solaris in this? if young shaw's father was patrick wilson - who also may happen to be the big blue face... are the Aliens trying to get into her head by playing 'familiar'... or does an alien bear a resemblance to him to take advantage of her memories? to communicate? if he died when she was a kid, then indeed, why won't he die/stay dead?

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 7:33 PMcertainly is interesting...
BTW, silica...I think Solaris is a wonderfully underappreciated SciFi movie. I rather enjoy that one, and it just reels me in...the starkness, desperation, and hopelessness just reminds me so much of A.1... in good ways. Cillian is a wonderful actor...

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 7:38 PM@BSS, yes, i liked the film(s) also, and Stanislaw Lem's stuff quite a bit, especially his theories on communicating with aliens... : )

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 7:38 PMWell, I'm personally hoping that since we haven't seen a real close full on frontal view of the blue alien, that there will be something decidely unhuamn in their visage.
I don't think they will try to communicate with her other than to try to cow her into submission.
I really think the break from her naive view of how the universe is will be her own journey.
Then again, my GF tells me I'm a cynical old guy. LOL.
Further illustration of this is the gruff veteran Filfield's comments that, "We're out here because you two KIDs found a map." Clearly an impression of how young and gullible Shaw and to an extent, Holloway are.

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 8:35 PM@Outlander: "DIE"? I thought she screamed "GEWWWWDDDD!!!!!!" (or GOOOODDDD!!!) in the last TV spot while being pinned by a SJ/human mutant (Holloway?)...

MemberOvomorphApr-02-2012 9:11 PMI can't be sure, but it sounded like, "DIE" to me as if she's been through all this harrowing stuff, the ship has crashed, and this damn thing is still tormenting her.
