Allosaurus vs Stegosaurus
Allosaurus
The terror of the Jurassic, Allosaurus was also among the largest carnivores. At 30-36 ft long and 2-3.5 tons, he rivaled just about everything else out there.

Stegosaurus
Stegosaurus' size was one of it's two main weapons. They were over 20-25 ft long and weighed in at 2-3 tons. The other weapon was it's famous 3 foot spikes on it's tail.

Fight
A pair of allosaurs are searching for food. The two brothers decide to head down to the lake knowing prey often gathers there. Upon reaching it, the find what they were hoping for. A lone female Stegosaurus is drinking at the water's edge. The younger of the two circles around to outflank the unsuspecting Steg. The older brother moves toward the Steg, roaring all the way. The distraction works. The Steg faces the allosaur and bellows. Then, like a runaway freight-train, the younger allosaur slams into the side of the Steg. She stumbles a bit, but being on four legs, she does not fall over easily. The older brother attacks. He grabs the Steg by the front leg and yanks forward. He tears out a chunk of flesh. As if mocking the Steg, he flings it in the air and swallows it whole. The other allosaur takes the opportunity and lunges. He bites down on the female's back leg and, at the same time, uses his massive hand claws to slasher her flank and the base of her tail. The Steg moves her body in the direction of the attacker and shoves him away. But not before he inflicted serious injuries. The older allosaur attacks again. Using his height advantage, he tries to bite the back of the Steg, right below the line of plates. But she shifts her weight and he bites a plate instead. The allosaur is able to snap it in half. What remains begins to bleed. The younger allosaur watches his brother throw the half he broke off away. This is when the Stegosaurus strikes back. She swings her tail at the distracted predator and lands a blow. Her spike goes right in the back of his head, right behind the temple. The Steg wrenches it out and the allosaur slumps to the ground. His older brother leaps into action and slashes the Steg's flank with his claws. She swings her tail, but he avoids it. He takes a few steps back. They stand there in a face-off as old as time itself. As the allosaur prepares for the final charge, the Steg prepares to meet that charge. The allosaur runs forward, his powerful legs propelling him at 20 miles per hour. However, in his blind rage and determination, he is not paying attention to his surroundings. He trips on the body of his fallen brother and loses his footing. The allosaur begins to stumble and falls. But he does not simply fall on the ground. He falls directly onto the tail spike of the Stegosaurus. The combination of gravity and his own weight drives the spike deep into his chest, piercing his heart. His eyes go wide with fear. They begin to glaze and his breathing becomes more rapid. The female Steg rips the spike out of his chest and the allosaur falls to the ground. He won't be getting up. The Stegosaurus, despite her injuries, will recover. Except for her broken plate. That will remain and always serve as a reminder that she defeated not one, but two allosaurs.
Winner- Stegosaurus

This fight could have gone either way. Like so many evenly matched fights, it ultimately came down to something in the environment or simply, a bad step.

MemberCompsognathusJul-10-2013 11:40 AMThat was awesome! I clicked on this thread thinking that we would see another carnivore victorious, but was pleasantly surprised by Stego's victory. Nice work!

MemberCompsognathusJul-11-2013 2:01 AMWhat species of Allosaurus and what species of Stegosaurus was it? I thought a 25+ foot stegosaurus would be more than 2-3 tons... But nice fight!
