MemberOvomorphMay-28-2012 9:03 AMOh my god, that picture that you put up Feanor23x is from one of the scariest movies I ever saw. It was a tv movie with Karen Black. It was all about her and a wooden African Zuni doll who chases her through out her apartment with a kitchen knife. It was part of a program called trilogy of terror, and it came out in 1975. I was five then and it still scares me.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 5:45 PMI actually watched Exorcist directors Cut at the Theatre. I amused my self by saying what the characters were about to say befor they say it and the rest of the peeps were shushing me all the time. ahahahahh.
love that movie.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:19 PMYou call yourself a "Space Jockey" and you shit your pants?-Jeez! Even Sir Ridley would belittle you for that!KP

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:22 PMSpace Jockeys do shit themselves you know - take the hologram scene in the corridor with David for instance. Their pegging it and its probs cos they saw that horrid exorcist face too.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:24 PMThe thing is that blip split second scene in the film made me really unsettled when I was little (saw a bit of the film when I was like 7 and tormented me to sleep)

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:30 PMSee that one never bothered me it was always the psychological ones that got to me. Im just a great big Space Fairy :/

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:39 PM....the grudge scared the crap out of me for some weird reason....I could not fall asleep for weeks after watching that...then one night I left my bathroom light on so it would just slightly illuminate my room....their was a storm outside and suddenly the light went out...i figured the storm caused the power to go off....but i noticed that my computer screen light was still burning....so I got up very reluctantly and when i went to the bathroom snapped the light switch...it came on....who switched it off!!!!?....i did not sleep for the rest of that night!

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:42 PMLmao I knw the feeling. The bit in the grudge that got me was when the woman lifts up her covers and shes there under them lol.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:46 PM....the lighter scene in the beginning...when that woman ghost jumps out of the dark...i nearly fucking died of a heart attack...very tense little movie with a god awful eeriness...i hear the original 'Juon The grudge " is much scarier....i'm frankly to scared to watch it!

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:50 PMYh I heard its meant to be pretty scary. I get weirded out by posession movies for some reason, dunno why.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:57 PM....yeah hack and slash movies and monster movies don't scare me anymore...they did when i was a kid....but it is the more psychological ones that get to me now....I was quite horrified at the Halloween remake...Michael as a kid....now that child freaks me out!...and when he kills that other kid with the shovel....very disturbing!

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 6:59 PMNot seen it, might give it a watch. I hope Prometheus lives up to the 'scare the living shit out of us' quotation Ridley made on the featurette.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 7:06 PM....i don't think it's really gonna scare me all that much...i think i will be blown away by the creatures and i will probably have a fright here and their.....but it's simply not the type of movie that's gonna keep me awake....i don't mind tho....it's not something i am suspecting.....I love the fact that their will be gore...but i am more focused on the characters and the story and i know it's gonna be very suspenseful....I think if you try and put yourself into the shoes of the characters....it might perhaps become quite scary!

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 7:07 PMThe ending to Sleepaway Camp had me in shock lol first time I watched it. I can watch anything gorey or sinister since i was a kid don't really scare me but that movie had a cool lil twist ending i loved.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 7:08 PMYh i wouldnt want to be a member of the crew thats for sure. Thats why im a space Jockey ;)
I think the film will be more disturbing and slightly shocking than really scary. And like you said its story driven, the terror just spices things up a bit.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 7:18 PM....i kinda fallen in love with some of the characters.....and they will most likely die.....i usually takes alot for me to really feel much for people in these type of movies....but just purely from the trailers and featurettes i already have made this connection with them....it's dangerous...lol...anyway i am of to bed...i will try and have sweet dreams...;)

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 9:06 PMTwo of my favorites from the past decade include Eden Lake and High Tension.
Eden Lake is scary because it is genuinely disturbing within its dark social commentary. Another Fassbender film.
High Tension owes most of its squirm to the sound design of François-Eudes Chanfrault. Incidentally, this sound design seems to have inspired Marc Streitenfeld's approach to some of the his more horrific cues in the Prometheus score. A Very good thing.

The ending of High Tension is what it is, but it doesn't change the pacing and chills of everything that comes before. In a way, it offers a nice angle on the cracked mind.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 9:09 PMI'm as scared as I am attracted to this film. I love sci-fi. the aliens films are a little too scary for me, though I've seen them years ago, with a hand over my eyes. I'm more into sci-fi drama thriller more than horror sci-fi. this looks interesting. plus it's the next film using the avatar style animation, so it will be great to look at I'm sure. though I don't like charlize theron, her presence hurts the movie's cred to me, but I'm sure it will be cool.

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 9:38 PMI was in my twenties when Exorcist was re-released. I had read the book and seen the original before, but for some reason, I couldn't sit through it in the theater. Something about Pazuzu's the voice was getting under my skin, and I had to leave.
Prior to that, as a child, the only things that *really* freaked me out were the Halloween theme song (I literally cowered in my bed) and the following character....

MemberOvomorphMay-28-2012 5:01 PM@Rubirosa...yup, we are all of the same era...remember seeing that movie on TV, and me and my brother thought every little "doll" that was in the house was gonna kill us, lol. In fact, my brother destroyed ALL our Atlanta Braves bobble heads---they would be worth, oh, about 10,000 USD now had we kept 'em...

MemberOvomorphMay-28-2012 10:12 PMThe Skeleton key, I could not get that voo doo preachers song/sermon/incantation from that scratchy old 45 record out of my head for weeks. That voice was so documentary style real that I ate, drank, bathed, watched TV, worked with that nefarious voodoo sermon seeping into my thoughts. Then it stopped.
