WATCH THIS VIDEO CLIP WHICH REVEALS THE INTENDED TWIST - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTBYbhECyGA @ Spartacus - I kept getting 'logged out' every time I tried to answer you in Snorkelbottom's 'My Alien 5' topic recently, so I've had to start this seperate one so that I can respond in full to you about this... Anyway, if you happen to be a technically adept 'fan-editor' Spartacus, then I'd certainly be willing to consider your offer of help with this project. However, there's a few certain things I require when it comes to undertaking this with any potential collaborator - 1. Ideally, I'd hoped for someone who was capable of cutting the BLU-RAY versions of this...but I'd certainly be okay with just cutting the DVD versions of this, if need be. But either way, I need someone who can cut it using the 'PAL' region versions, as my exact descriptions and 'timings' would be taken from the 'PAL' releases. I also need someone who's capable of cutting this together using either 3 different BLU-RAY sources or alternatively, from 3 DVD sources. That's right, 3 different 'PAL' sources are needed for the footage this project requires. 2. Although I'm not expecting any fancy 'menus' or 'extras' added to this edit, I do need someone who's able to do clean cuts, and who's also able to retain the 5.1 surround sound too. 3. I'm also looking to find someone who's patient and willing to cut to my specific, exact 'cut-list' throughout, without changing anything. I've not come across a version of ALIEN 3 that ever satisfied me, whether 'official' or 'fan-edited', so I've spent a lot of time working out this particular 'combination' of the 2 'official' versions which I'd be very keen to see eventually. To do this would entail me sending my exact descriptions and timings over a series of E-mails to any collaborator, but I'm not expecting this to be done quickly by anyone, as I'd rather they tried to cut it together with care instead, no matter how long it takes. So if you fit these criteria Spartacus, then I'd certainly be interested in your help with this. But if not, no worries, as there's certain others I hope to contact eventually that may agree to take this on instead. Let me know either way. Thanks.

Okay Spartacus, I've now finished the 2nd half of my initial post to include all the necessary details required. Perhaps you can confirm if this is still something you'd be able to tackle to with me, or not, sometime.

I can in fact do it all however I live in Montreal which is in the NTSC designation meaning the equipment I use can do both but only in that it would first have to be created in NTSC and then rendered as well in NTSC {or if even possible rendered in PAL} and then the entire project saved in PAL. also everything you wish to do you can do YOURSELF by pulling the dvd title into any "timeline" of any Editor software you wanna use. You could conceivably do it all yourself right now with Windows Movie Maker even. Including the audio edits...piece of cake...can do it my sleep so you could too.

Thanks for confirming your location Spartacus. Since Canada has a different 'Region Coding' to us here in the U.K.,I'll need to look elsewhere it seems. As I say, I'd ideally need someone who's got the exact same 'PAL' timings of the BLU-RAYS (or DVDs) as me, or things will get too tricky when describing the various cuts needed. However, I hope that an 'NTSC' version of the planned 'PAL' edit can be organised too eventually, for everyone that's interested. But while I appreciate I may be able to cobble this together myself at some point, I'm really looking for a fan-editor with enough experience to make a reasonably seamless job of this, at the end of the day. Hopefully, I'll be able to find someone who would also like to see the particular version I have in mind... I'll update with any info. on my progress with this, and thanks for your interest in the meantime.

Well I did do a two year course in BTEC Media studies in college (grade - distinction), but I don't have the necessary video editing software or the means to bypass the copy protection of the DVD (I dont get all the fuss of sting, i mean, blu ray).

By the way, I've also got an alternative companion cut of ALIEN RESURRECTION ready to go too...which would show the 'original' Ripley STILL surviving the horrors of that movie also! :) ...however, everyone should definately take the time to read Snorkelbottom's inventive storyline for a possible ALIEN RESURRECTION sequel in his 'My Alien 5' thread. It's TERRIFIC, and shows how things might have turned out for the remaining characters... Snorky when the PM function is up message me, you don't need any...I can show you how. Also if it is YOUR blue Ray copy there is nothing illegal at all about it.

MemberTrilobite01/21/2012
btw cerv, with the right software and the accurate timings of cuts, and inserted/removed scenes I could probably do this quite quickly.

absolutely do you have windows you can use windows movie maker to do this or better yet any version of Nero will do it but even better there are so many programs available for free via download that do it like Blender and many others. Plus, the greatest thing you can do is wherever you live, buy a video capture card and in minutes you will have all the software and editing tools you need, in particular try to find one company named ULEAD, their editor is the 2nd best one in the world next to ADOBE's and ADOBE's is HUGE and takes up way too much space...but i use them both. Just be sure to tell the guy where you got it what you PC specs are and make sure he gives you ALL THE CABLES as LONG as YOU NEED THEM. Most video cap cards for $30 today come with ULEAD software! ~Above all ~Enjoy ~It's alotta fun to do this. ~I have made over 150-200 SOCOM videos for SONY Online ~I will post a few here you may like!!!

movie maker is a bit basic I have a laptop shouldn't need a capture card, just the source files and a professional enough video editor, with multiple video and sound channels

Try blender. It's free and has more power overall than Vegas. What have you got to lose? The only thing is it can get a bit technical but I am sure you can easily handle it. Using blender for video editing

Biomechanic

MemberOvomorph01/21/2012
It's both did you even follow my link snorkel? It also has a very large community of support so all you have to do if you run into trouble is go to the forums and ask a question.

Gavin

MemberTrilobite01/21/2012
Yeah i did bm, just bare with me a sec

Gavin

MemberTrilobite01/21/2012
right, blender very handy for 3d editing, but regards video editing it would actually take longer to do stuff, does anyone know of a free pedigree video editing software
