According to The Sun, the search for the person to sing the next James Bond Theme is almost over. They are reporting that singer Lana Del Rey is under consideration to sing the theme Song. The other major contender being reported is Singer Sam Smith, who is also internationally known for his many hits.
According to 'The Sun : "Producers know it has to be a great song with a killer vocal to rival the phenomenal success of Adele's 'Skyfall," a source told The Sun. ''Sam seems like the favourite but Lana could definitely give him a run for his money.'' If true, it appears that a decision is very close to being made, and we will analyze this with our take on this rumor and the likliehood.

It would appear in this recent report that they are looking for an iconic new song like 'Goldfinger'...but at the same time they are also wanting the theme to be sung by an artist that is popular in enough in the public conciousness so that association with the James Bond franchise might drive new moviegoers to theater. It could also be using the star power to drive sales of the theme song on itunes as well.
As to the liklihood of this rumor? It is likely that they may have been approached for the part of singing the theme song. However, in the wake of an official announcement, it is still very teneous to assume anything. There have been previous rumors regarding Sam Smith doing the theme song, and so this new rumor may hold a contradiction or conflict.
