Earlier today the second international trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, featuring a plethora of never seen before footage, most of which centred around the characters of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Since these characters were revealed speculation amongst fans has been rife with the belief that either one or both of these characters are the next generation of the Skywalker family. Now thanks to this newly released international trailer we can all but confirm that both Kylo Ren and Rey are descendants, grandchildren of Anakin Skywalker AKA Darth Vader.
Rey
In this new trailer Rey talks to new droid BB-8 stating the line “I know all about waiting, for my family”. It seems that through BB-8 Rey meets escaping former Stormtrooper Finn, whom is being hunted by his former comrades. We believe this aggressive action from the First Order forces Chewbacca and Han Solo to come out of hiding to rescue Rey and Finn before taking them to the heart of the Resistance, whereupon Rey is reunited with her parents - Princess Leia and Han Solo. We believe that Rey's familiarity with the Millennium Falcon and her obvious friendship with Chewbacca, along with her rescue are the clues to her parentage.
Klyo Ren
As for Kylo Ren, his line in this new trailer “I will fulfil our destiny, I will finish what you started,” is proof alone that Kylo Ren is also of Skywalker blood. Unlike Rey however we believe that the movies new villain is the son of Luke Skywalker. Kylo Ren's obvious usage of the dark side of the force could be why Luke Skywalker is all but absent in the new trailers. Having raised his son to be a Jedi and to watch him be seduced by the Dark Side would be reason enough for Luke to exile himself, possibly seeing the force as a curse upon his family. Though if Luke is indeed Kylo Ren's father, that would beg the question as to the mother is or was?
Knights Of Ren
Another mystery that surrounds Kylo Ren is the 'Knights of Ren' group or sect of which the character appears to be part of. From this trailer and the final trailer it appears as though there are seven of these knights, something which Star Wars fans will know goes against the ways of the Sith, of which there are only ever two – Master and Apprentice. Could Kylo Ren's primitive looking Lightsabre be a clue that he and the other 'Knights of Ren' are practising a form of the Dark Side of the Force older than that of the Sith and the rule of two. If this is indeed the case it would beg the question as to how, where and from whom Kylo and his fellow knights learnt these ancient ways.
Who Is Supreme Leader Snoke?
Ever since the first teaser was released fans have been wondering why so little of Luke Skywalker has been revealed. Yet what has escaped many fans scrutiny is the mystery surrounding what could be possibly the most important character in the entire movie – Supreme Leader Snoke. The commander in chief of the First Order, who will be portrayed by performance capture legend Andy Serkis, has not been revealed. Could the characters absence be a clue to his identity? Could it be that when the Supreme Leader of the First Order is revealed he is revealed to Star Wars fans to be none other than Darth Plagueis, Darth Sidious' former Sith Master? Could it be that Plagueis abandoned the teachings of the Sith for an older, purer former of the Dark Side which led to the formation of the Knights of Ren? Could it be that Plagueis used his last Sith Apprentice to seduce Luke Skywalker, bear him a child and then turn their child to the Dark Side of the force? Could Captain Phasma, portrayed by Gwendoline Christie be Plagueis' last Sith Apprentice and Kylo Ren's mother?
Finally, here's the best of the rest of the new footage from the international trailer, and the newly released international poster...
