Due for release in theatres nearly twenty years after the first movie Independence Day Resurgence began filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico this May. Though most of the cast from the 1996 cult classic original have returned for the sequel, Hollywood star Will Smith has not returned, instead choosing to appear in DC and Warner Bros. Suicide Squad as villain Deadshot. IDR promises to show mankind once again face off against the alien "locusts" from the first movie, this time however we have salvaged their technology and adapted it to our own.
and that's a wrap on @IDResurgance. Thank you Albuquerque, New Mexico, you've been amazing. @NewMexicoFilm @Newmexico pic.twitter.com/baqa44sJeu
