Despite mixed feelings about the tone and the narrative structure of last months Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one thing both fans and critics universally agree upon is that based on his performance in the movie, Ben Affleck is arguably the best adaptation of DC's dark vigilante for the big screen. Amazing when considering that when Afflecks involvement was first announced those very same critics and fans were in uproar at the proposition, with some fans going so far as launch online petitions to remove Affleck from the cast.
Rumors have been circulating for months that the former Daredevil star was considering directing and starring in a solo movie as his DCEU rendition of the Batman. Speaking at Cinemacon in Las Vegas Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara finally confirmed the rumors...
"It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020. I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie."
Following the announcement the Batfleck (and co-star Amy Adams) arrived on the stage and made the following comment...
"It's been tremendously exciting for us to be a part of the DC Universe, and we're looking forward to working on Justice League."
Footage was also shown from the forthcoming Wonder Woman movie showcasing its primary cast members Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. And despite the underperformance of Batman v Superman CEO Tsujihara confirmed that director Zack Snyder will be returning to direct both parts of the Justice League.
