With Marvel Studios going from success to success with each instalment of their Marvel Cinematic Universe, it makes sense when considering that Warner Bros holds the productions rights to most of the comicbook superheroes from the DC stable that the studio would be pushing for their own superhero cinematic universe. Rather than use the world reknowned Dark Knight Trilogy as the first chapter of their DC cinematic universe Warner Bros have instead opted to use last years more controversial Man of Steel as the foundation for their superhero ensemble franchise. Even more worrying is that Warner Bros seem to be expecting Man of Steel director Zack Snyder to bear all the weight of this endeavor, rather than using other talented directors. Furthermore, the studio seems determined to make their DC-CU a big screen only venture, remaining completely ignorant of the wealth of their currently successful TV serial Arrow, soon to be followed by a Flash and Gotham TV serials. Surely a more encompassing cinematic universe using well known heroes on the big screen and establishing smaller ones on the small screen would seem more prudent?
Whether or not Warner Bros will utilise all of their available and successful markets remains to be seen. Until then, lets continue to watch Warner Bros wedge even more superheroes into 2016's superhero faceoff movie, with news from Variety that Ray Fisher (pictured above) will be joining the movies cast as Victor Jones AKA the Cyborg.
Also, as mentioned above, Man of Steel and its forthcoming sequel Batman vs Superman's director Zack Snyder has confirmed that he will also be directing the Justice League movie, which will follow the 2016 Man of Steel sequel, according to reports from Speak Easy. Warner Bros have yet to confirm a release date for the DC ensemble movie.
