MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 11:20 AMI was very dissapointed with Bryan Cranston on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night. He spent most of his interview talking about his Broadway play (LBJ) which is up for awards. Not that that is a problem, but he made no gush or real effort to even plug Godzilla. Guess he's got a pay check and it's on to the next big thing. They did show some unseen foootage in a clip of the reactor accident (inside) when all the choas is happening. Other than that, he really didnt have much to say about it....at all!. Very dissapointed at his lack of enthusiasm over this film. FAIL! Maybe others have seen it and can chime in. I stayed up late for nothing! My warm fuzzies have cooled off a bit... Maybe he knows it's not the great film many are expecting...and demanding...???

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 11:29 AMYea, I too noticed that there has been little to no promotion coming from the actors themselves. The interviews that I did see, All the actors seem not to care about this film at all. Could the 98 film failure be the reason for this ?...

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 1:22 PMEh, it really depends on who paid him to go on the show. The actors don't just show up for the lulz. They aren't "invited".
The whole thing is pre-arranged as a contractual deal between the company the runs the talk show, and the company that has a movie/song/book/whatever coming out.
Cranston was probably sent there primarily by the LBJ people and NOT by Legendary for Godzilla. Those guys can get in trouble if they talk too much about another project, or don't spend enough time with their plug. It's all a very manufactured process.
Or maybe....God Forbid....Cranston is genuinely MORE EXCITED about the character he plays in LBJ than the one he plays in Godzilla. It's his right after all. His Godzilla, while I'm sure is well done, is not going to be the most nuanced/complex character that actors most enjoy bringing to life.
And let's face it, so long as people know Cranston is in Godzilla in the first place, that's the draw. Not necessarily how well he does or does not sell it on the Late Show. So long as people are aware now that maybe weren't aware before, that there is an association between the two, then the job is done, and done well, and people will see the movie who weren't already going to see it. Mission accomplished :-)

I've spoken with Zaff, you don't need to add to the issues with name calling. Play nice or the refs will take you out of the game.
Come on guys, cool it down.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 2:33 PMZaffzilla, this site has been really calm lately and it needs to stay this way. So im asking nicely, please dont bring this site back to how negative it used to be, and also if you continue ur current act on the forums then its best if you dont stay here at all, or otherwise just chill out, its not like anyone or Godzilla's biting you.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 2:40 PMGMAN2887..will do. I've just noticed on several other posts Zaff is doing the same thing to others. People are just reporting honest feelings about what they see and shouldnt get slammed for doing so. I'm sure you Mods will handle things appropriately. Thanks

MemberBaragonMay-06-2014 5:55 PMWhoa, where did all this negativity come from?! Bryan doesn't plug Godzilla on one show, and suddenly the whole cast hates the film. One reviewer complains about Aaron Johnson, and suddenly we need to be worried because apparently the film will be terrible. Relax people, in 9 days you will see the movie for yourselves and draw your on opinions. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, as long as YOU enjoy the movie, the wait will have been worth it! :)

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 7:20 PMWe're all victims of expectations. I'm an older G fan (31) and was a hardcore Godzilla fan before the 98 film. I remember seeing it in theaters and going home absolutely crushed and thinking that the U.S. had ruined their one shot at a Godzilla film. So I can honestly say I've been awaiting this film for 15 years. It CAN'T meet my expectations but I have a feeling I'm still going to walk away with a huge smile on my face. Let's not get put off if a statement is released with negative input on the film or in this case if a star doesn't promote the film as much as we'd like. Now lets face it, Cranston is in a SUPPORTING role in this film and will obviously choose to promote the vehicle in which he actually STARS.
