Extinction Event: Can we survive the next Cataclysm?

Its a bright Sunny day like almost any day, you look up from the city skylines and see a bright light shining brighter than the sun racing across the sky.... The asteroid strikes Florida, a quarter of the peninsula is turned into a crater as well as sending an EMP surge killing all electronics on the planet. Dust and vaporized rock is thrown into the atmosphere which will soon blanket the earth in perpetual darkness. Within weeks large plants will die off however their seeds will remain dormant until the day comes when the suns shines on a new era. 

Farmlands and their wide arrange of crops wither and die from a lack of sunlight, acid rain, and global temperatures suddenly drop due to the clouds blocking the warmth of the sun. In-Door gardening becomes impossible without any form of power, With no agriculture many humans will have to soon resort to hunting to sustain themselves but after several years animals become scarcer and scarcer. Humans cannot not sustain themselves on rats and certain animals and plants are too toxic to consume. Humans resort to cannibalism as a last ditch effort to stave off starvation, bring the already shrinking population down.

Modern medicine fails as super bugs evolve specialized defenses to combat antibotics as well as the loss in our medical machines due to the EMP caused by the asteroid. Without medicine, the mortality rate increases. Something like the common cold could spark a deadly pandemic.

Once all available food sources are gone, the human fades into extinction like the mighty dinosaurs. Then out of the ashes the animals that managed to survive become the new inheritors of a human-free world.
