While filming wrapped up on August 22nd, casting call postings are still public and provide a wealth of information in regards to potential locations and scenes for Independence Day: Resurgence. Aside from the typical fighter pilots and army casting calls which we can expect due to the resurgence of the aliens; noticable calls included "East Indian men, women and children", "Asian men, women and children" and "Africans and African American men, women and children". This more international diversity could infer a more international setting for the sequel. While in Independence Day the main plot focuses on the invasion of the United States, we do know many other Phase 1 "City-Destroyers" obliterated Berlin, Moscow, London while Sydney and Cairo were saved following the success of the computer virus/counter-attack. However, only a few short scenes featured other nations fighting aliens. With a unified Earth government, could we expect to see our main cast travelling across the world saving various cities? Quite possibly, such as Angela Yeung plays "Rain", a tough fighter-pilot from China who lost her parents in the War of 1996. As far as what her role is within the plot is currently unknown, but a more international cast provides more international diversity.
Other noticeable casting calls include "Elderly men and women ages 75 and over". As of now we know the stripper with the heart of gold, Jasmine Dubrow, will be working as a hospital administrator. One other includes the return of the mythical "Area 51". As stated by IDRCasting; Area 51 extras are needed, including Soldiers, Nurses and Doctors. On top of that, moon base soldiers were also casted.
Child extras were also called in early June for a scene in an undisclosed national park. The current status of this casting call is limited but from what we can tell, Independence Day Resurgence will feature a wide network of location settings, some being blue screen CGI, like a sweedish forest location as stated in the Independence Day Livestream.
