Former governor of California and action movie living legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed in response to The Arnold Fans that he is set to return as the Terminator in the planned sequels to Terminator Genisys, set for release May 19th 2017 and June 29th 2018 respectively. When asked if he'd return for filming the next Terminator the former Mr Universe stated "Yes, of course, next year."
Of course, this all depends upon the reception that Terminator Genisys gets when it is released July 1st. Before the release of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Sony Pictures had planned two more sequels in the franchise, but after its lukewarm reception from fans and critics, and after striking a deal with Marvel Studios, the property is to be rebooted once more. Thus far the trailers and marketing for Terminator Genisys have been far from favorable, and it remains to be seen whether the risky prospect of resetting such a widely recognised franchise will sit well with the fans and the critics upon release. Should the final product sway popular, negative opinion then Arnold will no doubt return as either the same Guardian Terminator or as another Terminator from off the production line, but should the movie bomb bigger than Judgment Day we suspect Arnold will never be back!
