Amidst all the hullabaloo surrounding about Warner Bros. planning to reboot The Matrix, you may have missed the news that 20th Century Fox are also readying a new version of The Fly, as reported by Deadline.
George Langelaan’s 1957 horror story about a scientist who finds himself slowly transforming into an insect was originally adapted for the screen in 1958. After two sequels, David Cronenberg directed a 1986 remake which became infamous for its gruesome body horror (it won an Oscar for Best Makeup), with a sequel following three years later.
J.D. Dillard, who is currently receiving accolades for his magician drama sleigh, is in talks to direct the new version. If he accepts the gig, he’s also script the film alongside his writing partner Alex Theurer.
