Recently it's been revealed that Jurassic World: Dominion will feature an origin story for the T. rex that we've all come to love since the first film. (Potential Spoilers!) The opening scene will feature a mosquito sucking the blood of a deceased Tyrannosaurus that was brutally killed by a Giganotosaurus. Setting the scientific anachronisms of this scene aside, this is most likely meant to set up a future battle in the film with Rexy and the cloned Giga. However, it's interesting that they would specifically set up an origin for Rexy, one that (according to Colin Trevorrow) will play a huge role in the story. Does this potentially mean that the Rexy will die in the movie? Keep in mind, this specific rex is over 30 years old in this timeline, and is probably past her prime. So with the news of this origin story, it's possible that Dominion could be her final stand.

But what do you think?

Rexy dying in this film? I Hope not.

As for Rexy's age, that is for Rex's in the wild, who know perhaps a Rexy could live double her natural lifespan if given proper care

While I personally don't want her to die, I have a feeling that she might. Why else would they put that much focus on her origin? I also think it would be an emotional way of ending her legacy and concluding the JW trilogy, with her death signifying the end of an era, and the start of something new.

I honest to god hope not, even if it makes the movie better. If they bring in some sort of plot armor where she has some kind of genetic modification that triples her lifespan, yeah, it would be kind of dumb, but I would be all for having her outlive other characters or even being the only dinosaur to survive the entire trilogy.

Okay, Trevorrow hinted that Rexy will most likely not die.

I feel like a big silly now...

I think it would be fitting as well. Just as Isla Nublar's destruction signified the end of an era, so would the emotional death of the original T. rex.

Honestly,wish she does.

Sorry if i have to bring this up but every theropod in the series (not including spino) has just shown up to be killed by Rexy.

Giga will have only a little bit of lore just so they can make it reasonable that it dies by Rexy.

Im tired of this shit and i god hope Rexy dies.

While I’d hate to see it, I do believe it’s what should be done. On the other hand, Trevorrow knows that Roberta is the cash cow of the franchise and seeing that money is the only thing that talks to him, I’m hard-pressed to say that he won’t kill her off… at least not on screen.

All this setting up just to set up a hero/villain storyline is such a stale copout of a plot, but it’s also clear to me that Trevorrow and company aren’t out to please the true JP fans and is more interested in making a big kaiju/explosion type movie to draw in the general public. It’s immensely saddening that this is what the franchise has fallen victim to.

Trevorrow and the crew HAVE been trying to give the JP/JW what they've been asking for. Fans have asked for feathered dinosaurs, he gave it to them, fans have wanted to see Giganotosaurus as a rival for T. rex, he gave it to them, Fans wanted the original cast to return, he brought them back. Hell, they even altered Rexy's design to look more like how she did in Jurassic Park, which wasn't necessary, but because fans wanted it, they gave it to them. To me it seems like the crew IS trying hard to please fans as well as general audiences. It may not be exactly what you want, but to state that they don't care about the series is not only wrong, but is pretty demeaning to all the  work that they're putting into the series.

@SasquaDash

Making a sore attempt at adding a little scientific accuracy while ignoring the fact Giganotsaurus didn’t live in North America and neither did Oviraptor, Dreanoughtus and Iguanadon is indicative of carelessness in writing. If they wanted to set up a fight between the two, it could have been done differently. Tell me again how great of a movie Fallen Kingdom was, I’ll wait. There’s absolutely nothing good that came from it and an embarrassment for the franchise with the cartoony villains, stale protagonist characters and non-gripping plot.

They had all the opportunities to build from the first JW and blew it, why was production given to a guy whose only credit is a poorly known Indy film called “Safety Not Guaranteed”? Who was in charge of that executive decision? The man was in line to make a new Star Wars movie and was quickly axed after Fallen Kingdom was released. Wanna make a wild guess as to why? Remember the masterful plot for that movie “Monster Trucks”? I hope you don’t remember the movie itself, but Derek Connelly was at the forefront.

All I’ve got to say is that if I were given a 200 million dollar grant to make a JP movie, I’d blow anything Trevorrow and Connelly ever made out of the water. They’ve capitalized on the franchise and it’s immensely apparent.

Well, I was considering having a nice conversation about the series, but if you're going to act like a jerk and lash out at people, I guess there's no reason to continue this conversation.

@SasquaDash

… What? I’m criticizing the direction a good franchise has taken due to careless production and plots that run almost purely from the nostalgia and successes of previous films and implementing characters that are so bland or annoying that you can’t help but become fixated on how they made it into production… I’m not being a jerk, I’m again, offering criticism, you just have a problem with how it differs from your own opinion. The way I see it, the only way to enjoy a movie like Fallen Kingdom is if you actively try to find reasons to like it, there’s really nothing at face value to have much enjoyment from it.

To prove a point, TRYING to make a good movie and please fans shouldn't result in a 47% critic score and 48% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes…

Okay, so remind me what the RT scores (both critic and audience) for Jurassic World and Camp Cretaceous are...

Both are “decent” at their very best. JW received a good review due to a niche that hadn’t been touched on much for a long spell of time. It could have been done IMMENSELY better and it’s main driving point was almost purely nostalgia with barely anything original… but the formula had worked out alright before I guess in other franchises. I did enjoy JW when it came out, but only when it wasn’t cringeworthy acting and when the movie wasn’t screaming “LOOK, LOOK! THEY DID THIS IN THE FIRST MOVIE, ISN’T IT STILL COOL?!” Call backs can be fun and fulfilling, but it shouldn’t take up most of the movie.

Camp Cretaceous is anyone’s game… too oriented towards a younger audience and it was a foolish idea to make the series canon. But whatever, because nobody asked for it. At least they’re getting money from Netflix. Either way, turning the series into a cartoon is more on par for what the previous movie plots are geared for, ESPECIALLY Fallen Kingdom.

My impression was fallen kingodm tried to be something it could have explored killing vs letting the dinos live better and should have been the more focus. It tried i guess.

@HinikunaGoji

I agree, they should have stuck with one plot point instead of three at the same time. The human cloning thing should have been nixed altogether IMO, even the Indoraptor seemed unneeded. Someone/some people came up with a few ideas and nobody said “Hey, let’s pick one and elaborate from there”, but instead they were like “Why not use all of them?” and they loosely tied them all up to one another and failed to make a coherent screenplay where most sequences were just straight up incomprehensible.

And don’t get me started on the characters, Justice Smith’s character needed to die along with his horrendous screams that were NOT funny in any sense, though it seemed production thought it was. Wheatley was just an eyebrow-raiser with his strange fetish for teeth, though his death was satisfying. Mills was like every half-assed cartoon villain where all he was missing was a maniacal laugh. Even Chris Pratt’s role wasn’t defined, the script tried to make him both some sort of comic relief and be serious at the same time and still came off bland either way. Bryce Dallas Howard was trying too hard as per the usual, she acts as if she’s in some sort of Broadway play always using exaggerated emotions…

Part of making a good movie is having the characters be somewhat believable and none of them were in FK.

I liked the human cloning part but it felt rushed and not very executed well.

Let’s be honest, none of us WANT rexy to die, but knowing this could be the last movie, it might happen. Blue, could also die, but I don’t think they’ll kill both of them off at once.

Pretty much Rexy is the Main Protagonist Dinosaur in Jurassic World, Blue was the Main Protagonist Dinosaur in JWFK. So, Rexy better not die.
