Your ideas for a Godzilla game concept (Announcement)

So, let me explain. For a while now, I have been working on a concept for a new Godzilla game. Seeing as we are still waiting on the GvK trailer, with the fear that my concept might be MASSIVELY overshadowed but seeing as it's likely not coming for another month I thought I would at least announce that it's something I'm working on.

 

To give you a quick idea of the concept: The game will be a semi-sequel to the most recent Godzilla game, Godzilla PS4 and therefore will be a 3D Fighting game with some similar mechanics. I am also trying to add elements of the much-beloved Atari games into the mechanics and gameplay.

I am currently working on some concept art for the gameplay, boxart, etc. and am hoping to share the completed concept near the end of the month either as a single large topic or multiple smaller topics, I am not sure yet.

 

Note, this is NOT official nor a fan game, just a concept.

 

The only thing is that its been al my ideas thus far have only been my ideas leaving the imagination to be limited. My question is to you is, do you have any ideas yourself. Maybe you ones had this idea you have always wanted to see in a Godzilla fighting game. These can literally be anything from Controls, Mechanics, Story, gamemodes, gimmicks, DLC, artstyle, ANYTHING! Any ideas are welcome.

If I end up using the idea down the line, I will credit the person who came up with the idea. Anyway, leave your ideas in the comments and let's discuss.

Have a larger roster of kaiju depicting every kaiju and every rendition of the same kaiju from Showa/Heisei/Millenium/TriStar/Monsterverse/Reiwa.

Xenotaris That's always a must-have on a Godzilla game concept. Whilst I will limit the concept to a certain amount of characters, I am currently including the large majority of Kaiju.

The different incarnations idea is something I currently have implemented in some compacity, though again limited to a certain amount. If it were to be for every character, things would go out of hand quickly. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Also have where you power up some kaiju it activates their supermode(s). Like if you play as Mothra's larval form, you could eventually become her adult form. Monster X could become Kaizer Ghidorah. Heisei Godzilla becomes Burning Godzilla etc.

Mothra Leo should have like 4 alt forms.

Now that's an interesting one. I originally had Keizer Ghidorah and the imago Mothra/Battra as separate monsters, but implementing their evolutions just really fits their characters (Though as of right now, I have Burning Godzilla as a skin of sorts)

I think you should get the choice of which mode you start in (Some people might just want to play as Imago Mothra). The only problem with that is how do I make both forms equal in strength, but still make the transformation not completely useless. Maybe getting some health back, but wouldn't that be a bit unbalanced?

Also, I like that idea for Mothra Leo. I only have her larva and Imago forms (And Aqua Mothra, but in a different way) as of right now, but adding the other forms in some way could also work.

Could be cool like in a co-op mode if one player plays as Mothra and the other plays Battra that you could unlock a finisher move that renacts the scene in Mothra vs Godzilla where they team up and defeat Godzilla or other kaiju

Ohhh, that sounds really need. Maybe you could have another one with Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, doing the dropkick. Or Godzilla using Anguirus as a battering ram.

I'm just not really sure how something like that would work though. Would it need some special requirements to be activated, could it only work with certain characters? Or maybe it's not really a final-move, but something incorporated into their movesets? For example, Godzilla uses Grab on an allied Anguirus and attacks by swinging Anguirus forwards?

Maybe if the 2 character's pressed an assigned button to their regular specials to certain characters like Godzilla and anguruis use grab but it shows the two their special buttons on screen and they press it and it engages a team special depending on who your fighting with maybe if a Godzilla and another Godzilla were on the same team they would pick up the enemy with and throw it to another Godzilla if 2004 was in the game the Godzilla press his grab button could  throw an enemy like keizer Ghidorah and shoot him with the op atomic breath with the special button  in the end if the movie of if 73 is in it and him and jet can do their tail slide or If tour partner wasn't on the same team as you in a movie you could do a special if you add Heisei Godzilla and a mothra on a team mothra could pick up the enemy and then drop them and Godzilla blast them with his atomic breath or a if he's in his burning form he shoots him with his pulse blast and atomic breath

Maybe some water mechanic's I've never really seen a game with them besides GTA V or man-eater that would be a way for characters like Godzilla or Leo mothra and others to battle under the water but can also surface or say if it has versus mode you could have Godzilla and anguruis vs mecha Godzilla and mecha Godzilla and anguruis and fight on land while Godzilla and Ghidorah fight under the water but Ghidorah can't swim so but he can out the water if Godzilla would stop hitting deeper and deeper to only be drowned by Godzilla and help anguruis destroy mecha Godzilla and they win the battle and maybe the game could include a XP system if you get a lot of hits off on the enemy's you get XP for doing so but if you lose you still get your XP but you just lose a quarter for losing I you have a 100 XP but you die you still get to keep 75 XP

Godzilla fan#1 Hmm, I do think your solution for the team-attack could potentially work, but I just feel like something like that would be very situational. Also, it would be very difficult to program and design depending on the number of combinations. Like I mentioned before, maybe these moves could be tied to specific characters' movesets or something similar.

The idea of an underwater mechanic is something I do want to incorporate in some way. I currently have it combined with a flight and burrow mechanic which works similar to Godzilla PS4 which might work better with the current gameplay mechanics. On the other hand, a system like yours would work better for an open-world Godzilla/Kaiju game where you can explore underwater temples or cave systems. Still, thanks for the suggestions :D

oooh an open world/sandbox Godzilla game would be awesome. I was just thinking it would have been cool if there was a create-a-kaiju option similar to the create-a-hero from Battle for Middle-Earth 2

I know right! It might not be the game I am making a concept for, it would be an awesome idea. Imagine swimming or flying to different cities or islands where you encounter enemies (Similarly to Breath of the wild).

The idea of a kaiju creator would also be very cool, kinda reminds me of the Mii's from Smash Bros. It wouldn't really work for online play though with the current mechanics I have for the game as it's main focus is "know your enemy" which would be difficult if the enemy is completely random.

Here is a concept for another kaiju game, an RTS Godzilla game would also be cool. I wish I was better at making games beyond fiddling around with RPG maker

So, I just wanted to give a quick update and show the current logo I've made for this game concept. It should give you a good idea of what the rest of the game will look like. I am not sure about the name yet, but it's the best name I could think of as of right now. Any feedback is always appreciated.

That is, by far, the coolest logo for a videogame I have ever seen! I want to play it NOW!!!! Also, and I don't know if this is too late, but it would be cool for Toho's kaiju going toe-to-toe with other kaiju, tokosatsu and/or giant robots from other franchises. Just a thought. Please make this game a reality! PRETTY PLEASE!!!
