A Ripley inspired war-cry against shitty prequel ideas (my own version)

“The first time they heard of it (the prequel series) it was Xenos expandable, the next time they sent in David because the human characters and the Engineers were expendable too. What makes you think that they would care about a bunch of sobbing Xenos being rejected and thrown out into the garbage can of so called used ideas (including marines)? They think that we (Xenos and well-written human characters) are crud and they (Ridley and Fox) don't care if any of your friends (Xenos and well-made human characters) is dead (they sacrificed that for the David crap), not one.”

Imagine that being said as a speech like the Ripley speech in Alien 3. :D

The best comedy is the comedy that is based on serious things.

So I say let's fight this thing (stupid prequel ideas a la Scott). At least if the next one gets shitty we can always boycott it, that should teach Scott a lesson.

Dillon praying:

Why? Why are the innocent punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain? There aren't any promises. Nothing certain. Only that some get called, some get saved.......

We give you thanks, O' Lord. Your wrath has come and the time is near for us to be judged. The apocalypse is upon us! Let us be ready! Let your mercy be just! Amen!

Feels about right at the moment...

What lesson do you want to teach Ridley Scott?  He is the one who brought us the alien, the engineers, the whole alien universe.

As long as he considers he has something to add to this universe, as long as he wishes to continue he should continue.

If he said the xenomorph is cooked he is right. He knows it better than anyone else. The xenomorph is so familiar now, almost like a pet.

Who wants to see more eggs, more facehuggers, more xenomorphs? A battle between an army of xenomorphs and an army of engineers is a terrible idea.

I want the next film to bring something new, something not yet anticipated by the fans. I don't need any answers to the questions raised by Prometheus and Covenant. More questions in the end would be even better. I like the ambiguity of the prequels,  eveybody may have his own interpretation. Every possible clue is there only to deepen the mystery.  Some call it bad script. For me it is a touch of genius.

Daliens:

My lesson, well I would like him to know that focusing on AI and to downplay the importance of interesting human characters makes a boring movie. It is too bad that he doesn't see this and just wants to tell a story about AI while it has never been the total story of the Alien movies, it is bad and boring.

Scott is a director not a writer, that would go to  Spaights, Lindelof (his work can be debated), O'Bannon, and so on. You wrote that he brought us the alien, Engineers and so on. It is a teamwork, not about one person. I don't deny that he has had an important role in the franchise though.

As long as he feels that he has something to add, well, he has given us the AI-angle which is just bad so no thanks. He should direct he is good with visuals but he is not a writer, leave that to other persons.

Cooked Xeno, it depends on who you ask. Art is often subjective (it is not like studying let's say water power), just because I like my painting doesn't mean that other people like it, it is the same with  the movies that Scott directs.

I would rather see the Engineer's involvement and their role in the creation of the Xeno rather than seeing more of the David thing because it shouldn't be about AI. Leave that to other movies, not the Alien universe.

Some ambiguity is alright, I totally agree because that is one of the things that made Alien good. It depends on how you do it, not all of it is well.

daliens I don't agree that the xenomorph is cooked. I can see movies in the quadrilogy and I can still be scared, feel the suspense and the tension of the action sequences, etc. "Alien Covenant" just didn't use he monster well and the eggs looked like something out of a Halloween store. And as Thoughts_Dreams said, there were no high stakes in the form o well rounded, likable human characters.

The Xenomorph is not Cooked yet..... however AC simply did not have the Run-time to do it any justice, so it was tacked on and rushed, instead more should have been spent on the Neomorphs, leaving One Face Hugger Event that leads to Oram getting taken to the Covenant Ship by David (crew thinks its Walter) then either have as the crew settle down before they go to Cryo-sleep... so   Daniels and Tennesee having chat and they ask Walter (David) how Oram is and Walter says he is fine and needs rest so he has placed him in Cryo-sleep.  Then have it that Oram Chest Bursts and the Chest Burster runs off..... unknown to the other Crew who then get down to what ever business they have... inc the Shower Time... and have the Xenomorph appear and give it 10-15 minutes more time.

Or simply have had , Walter (David) tuck everyone to sleep... then David goes to see Oram who awakens and asked Walter what has happened, and warns him about David, then have David make a remark and Oram then realizes its David but the he begins the Chest Bursting and then we see David admire it...   Then Cut to Credits.....  Setting up a Sequel to allow the Xenomorph to be explored.

But nope it was done wrong, because they had limited run time and tried to cover too much.

The Beast is not Cooked, but they now have to be careful, it will take a very Solid Plot and very Careful use of the Xenomorph over the next few movies leading to Alien, if they are not careful and its not done right or shown too much then YES it would become COOKED.

They (FOX/RS) have written themselves  into a Corner....

They told us these NEW Alien Prequels will lead to ALIEN and RS even saying we are 2-3 more movies from the Back Door of Alien, the Set up is left in a limited way.

*David has been shown to be the creator of the Xenomorph, he used the Black Goo and experiments to create his Xenomorph, which is NOT-QUITE there yet, it has some more Evolving to do until we get to ALIEN.

*Thus eventually something that Evolves from Davids creation, will end up being those Eggs on the Derelict and so eventually Davids Creations will end up on a Engineer Ship that ends up on LV-426 which we can safely assume is a long way from Origae-6

*It appears David will be taking the Covenant Ship to Origae-6 which will take 7.5 years and so David and the Covenant will arrive at Origae-6 about 10 years before the Nostromo ends up on LV-426

*The company knows what David has been doing, and David has told them of this and no doubt they are aware David is going to Origae-6

*The Engineers will be appearing after they arrive at Planet 4 to find the devastation left behind by David and you bet they want Answers and find those responsible, thus it appears they will be after David 8 but how can they know it was him and where he was going?  Engineers ships could intercept the Covenant easy, if they arrive not long after David has left... so the Engineers must turn up long after David has gone and likely after David has arrived at Origae-6

*David only has TWO Face Hugger Eggs, we dont know if he has any Black Goo, does he go back to Planet 4 first? How does David end up having his Creations become thousands of Eggs within the space of 18 years?

so there is a lot to cover... and i am not sure we will get a movie that covers the Engineers in a great detail, dont expect a hour dedicated to them....

They need to be careful with the Engineers, because they are bound to be Angry with what happened on Planet 4, they will surely then want to prevent David from doing what he wants, and also chances are they will view Mankind as insignificant and also partially behind what David has done.

So Pissed off Engineers does not bold well for Mankind, unless Davids Creations prove to be their undoing, the Engineers would surely also want to wipe Mankind out now, so they cant risk this kind of thing again, they would also surely maybe consider having to destroy LV-223 and Planet 4 or set up Defenses to prevent Mankind from every being able to go there and obtain Engineer Technology etc.

So this kind of contradicts the Franchise from ALIEN..

Unless the Engineers make a Pact to never deal with Mankind and the Company keeps the interactions and information on them Top Secret.

You are absolutely right: the birth of the xenomorph should have been something epic and it would have made for a great cliffhanger, instead of the off-kilter scene that we got with the ridiculous baby xenomorph.

IMO the xenomorph can offer no more surprises, no more suspense. We are too familiar with its lifecycle, with its way of killing its victims. It was shot from all possible angles, it was even displayed in Disneyland. I have my own xenomorph at home. I love this creature from the very beginning. I'm not against it.

We don't know for sure if the xenomorph has any common history with the engineers. Ridley Scott tried to show the xenomorph as an artificial being, created or re-created by David. A parasite, a weapon. How did the come to this particular shape and traits, he would not tell us. The are so many theories and none of them was categorically excluded by Ridley Scott in my opinion. It can even be that the xenomorph is a superior race and their way to colonize other worlds is to send the eggs there by a space ship. The Juggernaut may be a cargo ship and the Space Jockey a mere carrier. Or an egg monger? I can even make a parallel between the Juggernaut and Covenant the eggs being the alien colonists. The Space Jockey is a suit or the source of inspiration for a suit?

Ridley Scott won't tell us these things and it is the right way. We can all dream and invent and re-invent an alien universe forever.

Now if he want to explore more the AI let him do it. It will be a good movie, I am sure of it, and it can expand the alien universe even more. Let the man pursue something he loved, something he will dedicate all his passion to. If you are still in doubt whether it will be a good movie just look at Prometheus. So many people, including myself love this movie even if the human characters are the most annoying ones. There is no xenomorph. And the engineers are more suggested than displayed. So not the xenomorph,  the engineers or good human characters are the indispensable ingredients to a good movie in the alien universe. I think Ridley Scott has an interesting point he wants to explore further and he should get all the support we can give him. I trust the man unconditionally.

Indeed they have to be careful how they play the Xenomorph Card from now on, Ultimately it has to be revealed in some way down the line if we are going the Route that Davids Creations become those Eggs on the Derelict, they have to give some clues to this, if not actually kind of Spoon Feed it.

There are many other things that make up the Franchise than the Xenomorph and Ripley

So, you see "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" (1968). Sir Ridley made a far better work on the movie, for the book is almost unreadable. And I also read the original script for ALIEN - Sir Ridley's good job on that too.

And then, in the 21st Century, there comes Sir Ridley knowing that AI is far closer than any beast come from wherever - not only with PROMETHEUS and COVENANT, but also with BLADE RUNNER 2049.

If you're looking for sense in space, try 2001 or INTERESTELLAR, where science proceeds. But if you're looking for tangible threats, go for AI - we're closer and blinder as ever, for it's more feasible we see evil AIs on Earth than having a planet(s) we could reach in our lifetime, apart from those we already know, which can't be "terraformed" - let alone monstrous bugs of any kind.

Now, if you want easy space and monsters and fantasy, why not going to STAR WARS? - for an ALIEN 5 would be too ridiculous to be true.
