MemberFacehuggerAug-05-2017 10:02 AMIt has often been said on this forum that Fox should take a look at some of the threads and comments, and the many ideas that forum members have come up with.
Well it looks like Fox want to do just that. Fox studios is always on the look out for talent, and a browse through their online jobs section certainly points a finger in the direction of what they are looking for. Fox is keen to listen to fans and I will let you judge for yourself from the job spec profile link I am adding. Please note that the Alien fandom is referenced in the spec.
I’m not sure how long this link will stay up for but it is worth looking at.

MemberTrilobiteAug-05-2017 12:06 PMHere's the thing that gets me,
Fox is well aware of Scified and other similar platforms, and no doubt are aware of how long we and others (eg AvP Galaxy) have been doing exactly what they are looking for, for years and without pay.
Being aware as they are they will likely have a checklist of individuals that meet their criteria (any of the admin here for example), which begs the question as to why they are not reaching out to said individuals, rather than posting what Batchpool has linked.
Anyone who has been on a forum such as this for more than five minutes will be flooding them with applications. Which ultimately means they'll have to choose from thousand's of hopefuls that don't quite meet their criteria, rather than take their pick from around half a dozen that quite frankly are over qualified for that position.
My 2 cents.

MemberDeaconAug-05-2017 5:29 PMTotally get what your saying Gavin ;)
You would assume FOX would be like well these sites have some interesting ideas.. and draw a short list of say i dont know 3-5 user they like be they from here, AVP Galaxy or Youtube or what ever and then contact them.
Then its a case of if we would think it was spam... i mean if we have a member join and then say "hi my name is Robert Hickman and i work for FOX, we are interesting in you ideas" blah blah blah and then give you a way to contact them.. you would be thinking is this Legit?
But i know some people who worked on the movie do watch this place and can message people on here... but i ant giving any names away ;)
But indeed people connected to the Production and FOX do check on these sites...
I best not put my name in the hat though.... i dont want to take RS Job ;) joke.. but then more chance RS would be around and able to give a better job than me at the rate i am doing lol
As long as we get the Prequels sorted within 5 years i am happy lol

MemberTrilobiteAug-05-2017 9:09 PMMaybe FOX wants the public to perceive that is their idea to do what this site has been doing all along as sort of a grassroots thing? I remember Chris was among others to give fan questions to RS himself before AC was released.

MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 10:28 AMIs there really such a big problem in Fox wanting to develop a closer online relationship with fans? In all fairness, no employer expects someone to tick all of the job spec boxes, and by putting out a job offer that can be accessible to all who think they have the right qualities for such a job comes across as just simply the right thing to do. Why should such job offers be limited to a few when the net can be cast out into a big pool of talent and then whittled down to a smaller batch of hopefuls? Besides, job specs do not always reveal what an employer is really looking for. If they want someone with a very specific task in mind then you go headhunting with one bullet at least. The aim here is to take the shotgun approach, and whilst a shotgun may not completely hit the target, it will hit something.
Maybe the expectation of the position is that someone can engage with fans and steer them into the loving arms of Fox, and when possible, guide opinion away from information that appears on various websites that does not entirely align well with any official news Fox may wish to impart. In a way you could view this as an online extension of customer care. When looking at the overall picture, maybe included in the aims and objectives, is the idea of collaborating with fan sites and getting a fuller, and more informed view of what audiences as a whole want to see. That way when the sun sets on a comic con, everyone can look adoringly into each others eyes, and feel contentment in their soul, and have the belief that we all just want to get along and don’t want to see too many ripples in the pond. Now does’nt that sound just jolly great and splendid? Marvellous!
Now there is another way of looking at all this. I would regard this site as my best friend in class. Over time a relationship has developed and I feel at ease getting involved in whatever discussion may appear on the agenda. Suddenly, a new kid appears in class, and it just so happens that their parents own the school. My curiosity demands that I check out the new kid and see what they are like. That is the point when a decision is made. Are they a bully? Are they OK? But they will always be the kid whose parents own the school, and that is the elephant in the room.
Now, I am not the only kid in the class and there are many others besides myself who have a best friend in the same class. Eventually the classroom turns into a safari park full of elephants. Class will eventually be dismissed, and everyone is out to lunch to digest what is going on. Upon returning to class, things will take their natural course, and that’s when it will be shovels at the ready. Someone is going to find themselves in the prestigious position of standing in front of a multi million dollar shit throwing machine in a white suit. I hope they know a competitively priced, high quality dry cleaners. They are going to need it.
