I hope that the Alien Covenant extended scenes offered on the 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs will be awesome. I hope that the Phobos story will be (at least) as long as the Prologue shorts.

Digital HD from the 1st of August

Blue-ray from the 15th of August

If you have a 4K tv, why don't you own the 4K version?

Can we see these extended scenes in the digital version tomorrow??? Or, will we have to wait for the Blue Ray/DVD?

Either way, I can hardly wait!!! :D

Am I the only one who liked Lope? He didn't get much time in the film but from the novel he seemed so Grandfather-like, definitely someone to have by your side.

There are around 12 extended scenes in home version. I hope RS would give us a 13th surprise scene that can answer a few questions or at least show some engineers.

@Lawrence I like Loup myself quite a bit! As with most of the characters, he was underdeveloped and underused (I wonder how Jussie Smollet feels about how he was used....), but he certainly had a good personality on screen that could've been something more.

The extended engineer graveyard scene is great and wish it could have made to fit in the final release. It shows a parked Juggernaut that likely Walter will use to escape and help the colonists fight back against rogue Android David. He then fills it with the eggs and because he is semi organic he's hugged and busted thus resulting in the classic bio-mech big chap. Would have at least given me something to ponder. David's lab and how he got to the egg is just too far fetched with those primitive tools and lack of meat to add to his experiments. Hopefully there will be more intriguing stuff we don't currently know of. Unfortunately we likely will never get a director's cut but maybe a fan on youtube will cut a version I can enjoy.

Capt Torgo Why would Walter fill the Juggernaut with eggs? All the ships have been disabled as soon as David let loose the black pathogen 10 years prior, unfortunately. That's why David has been marooned there. That, and the force field around the planet (remember the storms?). So I think Walter's only chance is with the returning Engineers and hopefully they won't rip his head off lol David made the eggs through hybridzing with local insects, motes, random Neomorphs, and Shaw's eggs. He's had 10 years to tinker. Plus, none of that stuff really required complicated technology as all he had to do was experiment with the pathogen and see how it reacts and why.

Interesting. If there was already a Juggernaut inside that landing bay, why were the bay doors opening when David arrived in his Juggernaut?

"David's lab and how he got to the egg is just too far fetched with those primitive tools and lack of meat to add to his experiments."

The eggs in David's egg room were the result of his breeding program. David says in the novel that the original egg-with-face-hugger that is in his lab already existed.

Lawrence of Arabia - I like the actor, Demian Bichir, and I liked the character, but you are right, the movie doesn't reveal much about him. Grandfather? I don't know. I haven't read the book yet. He doesn't look like a grandfather in the film. :)

My security settings one let this run and when i disable some of them its like less than 1fps slow mind you that Website has so much garbage and spam running in the backround.

Ok disabled some more and managed to see it slowly but then crashed 2nd time due to so many back ground elements interfering with my system settings lol  How much Adverts and Bots does a site need lol

Ok so here is what i noticed, FIRST i FAIL to see why this was not added to the Movie as it added near enough no time at all to the overall movie.

The only TWO Things this shows us that maybe we could not have made out in the Theatrical is that.

1) Indeed many of those Bodies do-not look Engineer Size even by Prometheus 7.5ft comparisons, some of those bodies even look under 6ft for sure.

This Scene with how the Engineers did not quite look the same as those in Prometheus would have just lead fans to Question "are these Engineers?"

2) This extended scene also confirms the Hanger held at least 3 more Engineer Juggernaught Ships.....

This scene would thus have added some Questions like

*why Did David not use one of these Ships and Place his eggs on-board to Escape?

*Why was none of this ships sent to intercept Davids Ship

*Clearly shows what those beings would know all about the Juggernaught Ships, so why did they react so calm until after the Bombardment

It poses the Questions now of...

*Why David chose to pretend to be Walter, why not just find out where the Covenant was going and take after them with a Juggernaught?

*Could David simply Halt the Covenant, conduct experiments and take Hosts for his Experiments and then transport them to a Juggernaught and use that to leave?

So by not having this SCENE...

It would prevent people asking such Questions, because RS/FOX could discount anything shown in the deleted Scenes.

For example... so there was more Engineer Ships on that Planet?

RS could go the NO there was not route, and discount the extended scenes content... much like the Removal of the Elders Scene in Prometheus could mean we cant conclude their are Old Frail looking Elder Hierarchy above the Engineers.

I am sure the Extended Scenes and Extras will allow for some very good debates, its a case as of those in Prometheus which ones can we use to determine whats going on.

Because with Prometheus if you considered some of the extras scenes in that movie it could lead you to a different outcome... One of those being the Engineers Demeanor

@BigDave I could see those questions being asked and even used to the films detriment. It's not explained in film (maybe?) but in the novel/Art and Making/Collector's book it states that when David dropped the pathogen the planet/Engineers activated safety protocols to keep it from leaving the planet hence the Juggernauts not working and the storm (a force field) that the crew of the Covenant had to go through to breach the atmosphere.

Kethol

...and if you leave that scene in showing there were more Juggernauts, then you would also need another scene or dialogue explaining that the Engineers disabled all the ships after the bombing  - so people wouldn't be asking why David did not just leave any time he wanted to, as you just did BigDave.

"Indeed many of those Bodies do-not look Engineer Size even by Prometheus 7.5ft comparisons, some of those bodies even look under 6ft for sure."

If you look at the remains of the dead at Mount Vesuvuis, you don't find all of them exactly the same average human size and height. You find the full range of human sizes, including young adults and children. Why would the dead Engineers be any different?

BigDave

MemberDeaconJul-31-2017 9:26 PM

Indeed Kethol and Lawrence of Arabia while the Novel Explains the reason the Juggernauts are disabled, if they had done the same in the Movie... it would get us asking Questions like.... "Surely 10 years alone David could have figured out to Re-activate those ships?"

Regarding the Sizes Kethol  i also agree, i dont think RS has made such a Oversight with the Engineer in AC, i mean while the Live Engineer Flash back could be a oversight... surely they would have been able to show the Bodies as Engineer Sized, so 7ft plus or even Greater (if RS has the only 7.5ft Engineers as a oversight root).

A lot of people was puzzled at the not so Space Jockey Engineers in Prometheus and RS could have easily had the Flash Back Bombardment Scene how it was and then have the Dead Bodies as 10ft tall Props..

And so i think we can assume there is a very good reason why RS had created a varied kind of Engineers, which i covered in another Topic not long ago.

Its hard to tell in some shots, but in others and some of the Set Production we clearly do see Female Dead Engineers and also some beings not being very tall, not by Prometheus standards, but yet some are in the same location much larger than Humans well 7ft plus.

This being a Perfect Example.

Where despite being further in the background the TWO on the Left are Larger than the TWO on the right.

And so indeed there has to be a Reason, i dont think they are going the Uniform Giant idea and shape anymore.. well not for the beings on Paradise.

So while Humans can range from 2ft to 8ft a more Typical Average seems to be from 4ft to 7ft a good 175% Difference and so if we consider this then we could be shown these beings are Taller than Humans, but also vary and so indeed maybe they are between 5.5ft and 9.5ft tall. Where the Average between that would match our LV-223 Engineers.

Again its pretty open with how they showed the LV-223 Engineers and Sacrificial one and what we see in AC, its a clever move maybe because they can explain these differences in a number of ways and reasons.

A lot could do with how they choose to have Paradise as being shown...

Because is this place the Biblical Paradise as in Garden of Eden and where Creation had Started?  And so these beings could be our Ancestors, or a Next Clean slate attempt after our Ancestors were Banished.

Or is it more like the Paradise as far as other cultures, and so a place only the Righteous are allowed to Dwell, and where various Worlds they seed life on, they eventually allow some of these Humanoids back on Paradise..

But Mankind on Earth does not join them because we proved to not be worthy.

So indeed many ways they can explore all of this.

I think all those deleted scenes will contribute to our understanding of the engineer's technology. I am 100% sure that it has to do only with biotech and that they are very limited although advanced in other fields. Their technology has to do only with 'meat', for example the recorded data banks of their ships don't seem to gather data like ours (computers-flash memories-hdd etc) they don't seem to possess telecommunications-satellites etc and that they hadn't thought of fail-safe procedures and defense systems, since David a non engineer flew it with a bio weapon back we can deduce that they hadn't invented A.I.. We don't see David being recorded in any of the ship's holographic history playback as if their systems depict and capture only living organisms of a considerably size, I also thought that in the engineers recorded run in Prometheus that black spores that could actually fly as seen in Covenant were hunting them and they were so tiny that their primitive 3D low quality holographic systems could not accurately depict what was going on. Maybe someone bombed the engineers on LV-426 with the pathogen, to prevent the destruction of humanity. I also believe (as I expressed in another thread) that they use beetle DNA for their technology, if you take a look at the corridor's entrance in the engineer room in Prometheus you will see a decoration of a beetle like creature over the entrance.
