This is not very common. Fox might have something to do with the decision (at least actors are able to change the picture that appear on their profiles) What do you think this means apart from trying to boost the sales... maybe a change of direction?

They replaced this one:

While observing the beautiful posters, don't forget that you can own the movie on Digital HD from August 1 / on Blu-ray and DVD from August 15.

Enjoy the posters, enjoy the Covenant! :)

Honestly, it means nothing to me personally. As long as I get the BR, IDC what the cover looks like. It is only something to house the disc.

I think the Original Poster was misleading and not connected to the Movie, so this is a Good Move.

joylitt just a cleaner image perhaps? The theatrical release poster is a bit too busy and cluttered for a thumbnail/small image.

The home release poster is nice, vibrant, clear-cut with a very distinguishable Xeno.

The original was as BigDave said, misleading and Fox have reacted to it by putting the Xeno on it.

Now Fox why dont u act again and ask for some answers next screenplay?

Take This.... This is the blood of our lord

I will care about a different cover if a proper DC is released. Otherwise, covers and BS withstanding, the movie box art will have no effect on me either way.

Well to me the change of poster means they are trying to do some damage control. And yet, to be really representative of the contents of the movie, David should be on the cover. Of course the studios don't think that would sell as much as the xenomorph. 20th Century Fox now knows that once the truth is out, not even decent reviews can save you from the backlash.

You could be right but you may be over thinking. Whatever the cover art is- the disc is what it is. It can be plain Jane or have blinky LCD lights. As Newt said- It won't make any difference.

I know. For me or for you it does not matter because we know every detail about the movie. It might be different for the general audience though. Even good movies like War of the Planet of the Apes have suffered considerable backlash over things that may seem insignificant to some. Another example is It Comes At Night, the marketing campaign blew it very bad with that one.

'Well to me the change of poster means they are trying to do some damage control.'

'And yet, to be really representative of the contents of the movie, David should be on the cover.'

How was the poster misleading?? An abstract relief of people being attacked by xenomorphs...Sounds like the movie to me. It is obviously not a scene from the movie unless you thought the movie was entirely on a stone wall and depicts the characters as reliefs, now then it was misleading. It's an abstract representation of what you will see showcasing that the Xenomorphs were back. If anything it was spoilery and not misleading. Just because there was more than 2 Xenos? Is that why it's misleading?

I like the poster where it looks like an army of Xenos are attacking the Engineer culture but unfortunately that doesn't represent very much of what happened in the movie. In Alien Covenant David bombed the Engineer with the black goo and the movie is mostly about him so they should have had David in the poster maybe from the ship looking down on the Engineers before he destroys their home, that would be more truthful compare to how the movie turned out. AC is like an AI story which is unfortunate to some extent.

It would be a bit misleading especially if people followed Prometheus and what the Black Goo did in that movie.

It could have lead people to think  The Bombardment leads to some Xenomorph Related Organisms that go around killing off the Engineers.

either as a direct result of the Bombardment, or more Engineers being attacked by after the initial Bombardment or that this event happened prior to the Bombardment.

It seemed to imply various Xenomorph related Organisms in a Struggle against the Engineers and could be interpreted as a kind of Punishment being cast down on the Engineers.

Which is something that apparently the idea for Prometheus 2 would touch upon, before FOX Felt it needed to be a more Alieny movie.

Its a very ambiguous relief i will agree at that and it could be intended as no more than this... but it still could be interpreted by some to then expect something like this..  When there was no Signs of any Xenomorph related Attacks on Engineers.

The Prometheus Mural was also vague, and some rumors were that it too was just a Easter Egg that was not meant to draw any connections to Prometheus... but the Alien in that Mural did look a lot like the Deacon at the end of Prometheus, so maybe it was intended to connect?

Regardless it allowed many fans to speculate how it could connect to Prometheus...

The Alien Covenant Poster  however does not seem to connect to the movie, but it maybe could be if the Engineers had encountered the Xenomorph in the past.... or if its something that will happen in the future.

Posters are just for marketing and don't necessarily have to tie exactly into anything in the movie. There were several different Covenant posters, many of which did not represent any specific scene in the movie.

That said, I thought that black and white poster perfectly represented the hell the Engineers David used as hosts went through as David experimented in cross breeding to make the proto xenomorph.

It is very strange to see people call the figures in the poster Engineers, since outside of being shaved they do not look like Engineers. They always looked like generic humans to me. Nothing I saw ever said Engineer to me, and that's coming from a huge fan of Prometheus who loves the idea of Engineers.

Now looking at it as if those figures could be strangely Engineers it still looks ancient, like an event that happened long ago or just never happened at all. Still comes off as very abstract representation of the film just giving themes of Xenomorphs which were present.

So I guess misleading is a very subjective term.

Raised brow, raised nose bridge, hairless, muscular bodies. Pretty clear they were indicating these are Engineers to me.
