About the premiere of Alien: Covenant, then we do a chronological count of the order of the entire saga of Alien films, as well as details of their productions.

Prometheus (2012)

Ridley Scott directed this film starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce. It came with US $ 130 million and grossed US $ 403.3 million globally (US $ 126.4 million).

In 2093, the crew of the Prometheus spacecraft, owned by Weyland Industries, embarked on space travel in search of "engineers" responsible for creating humanity on planet Earth (32 billion years before our era). When they reach a planetoid identified as LV223, which is trillions miles away from Earth, they unleash new life forms that endanger the existence of everyone, including the only engineer alive in that place.

This engineer who is supposed to be one of the creators of humans, really has nefarious plans against planet Earth, but some of Prometheus's crew and the monstrous new way of life created impede his plans. The humanoid part of Prometheus's crew (David) manages to have a starring role in a conspiracy and actions that unleash scientifically valuable but damaging facts for the existence of humanity.

Alien: Covenant (2017)

He directs Ridley Scott, with the stellar roles of Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Billy Crudup, among others. A week before its release in the United States, it had already raised US $ 42.0 million in several international territories, which is expected to be a resounding success when displayed in all markets. Its production budget was US $ 111 million.

In 2103 the Covenant colonial ship, owned by Weyland Industries and with 2,000 people in hypersueño, goes to a distant planet to be inhabited, but unexpected events cause them to divert their course towards a new planet that seemed to be ideal for their colonization. Soon they discover the error they committed and are victims of new forms of life identified as neomorphs and xenomorphs, which threaten to eliminate them. Everything seems to indicate that this evil panorama originated after arriving there the only (or only) survivors of Prometheus, whose actions were deadly for the engineers who lived there and who can represent the same for the humans recently arrived.

Alien (1979)

He directs Ridley Scott, with the stellar roles of Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Ian Holm, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt and Yaphet Kotto. Nigerian high Bolaji Badejo played the role of alien (it was his only participation in cinema and died in 1992 at the age of 39).

The film was made with a budget of 11 million dollars and raised worldwide $ 104.9 million ($ 80.9 in the US).

When they were back on planet Earth in 2122, the crew of the merchant ship Nostromo, owned by Weyland Industries, received an SOS signal from a moon called LV426. When they arrive at that place, they find an abandoned alien ship, inside which there is a strain or egg from which a creature emerges that infects one of the newcomers (his body becomes a host of something even more terrible). In a short time the iconic Alien creature, a xenomorph that kills almost all the crew, except the commanding officer: Lieutenant Ellen Ripley comes out of its interior. To get rid of the creature, the warrior woman destroys the ship Nostromo, leaving her and a cat named Jones as the only survivors. The humanoid assigned to work on the ship (Ash), somehow hamper the actions of the crew by destroying the so-called and unexpected "8th. passenger".

Aliens (1986)

Directs James Cameron. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein and Al Matthews, among others. It came with a budget of $ 18.5 million and grossed $ 131 million globally ($ 85.1 in the US).

In the year 2179 is rescued a capsule of escape in whose interior was the unique survivor of the Nostromo (and the cat Jones). After listening to Ripley's stories about an extraterrestrial monster, senior Weyland-Yutani Industries executives send her back to LV426 on the Sulaco military ship, along with a Marine Corps, an executive (Burke) and a humanoid (Bishop). It turns out that in the 57 years of Ripley's cryogenic dream, before being rescued, the planetoid was colonized, but recently they lost all contact with them. When they arrive to the place they discover that all were assassinated by herds of xenomorphs described by Ripley, being the only survivor an 11 year old girl named Newt.

Now they are the ones that are attacked by the Aliens and battle to try to escape, although the sabotages of Burk endanger the existence of all. After several battles against the Aliens and their huge queen, Ripley manages to survive alongside Newt, a shattered Bishop and a badly wounded Corporal Hicks (Blomkamp's ill-fated film and Weaver returning to action with these survivors).

Alien 3 (1992)

Directs David Fincher. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Charles S. Dutton, Charles Dance, Danny Webb, Paul McGann and Lance Henriksen, among others. Its budget was $ 50 million and grossed $ 159.8 million worldwide ($ 55.4 million in the US).

In the year 2179 (the same one of Aliens), the ship Sulaco undergoes an unexpected thing when the survivors of the previous film were in hypersleep to return to the Earth. They are expelled in a capsule that falls on the planet Fiorina "Fury" 161 - operated by Weyland-Yutani - where there is a penal colony composed of terrible criminals and little or almost no prison supervision. The only survivor is Ripley, who is aided by the doctor of the place, while the help arrives that will return her to Earth.

In the capsule also came one of the creatures that later takes like guest the body of a dog that was in the planet. After forming and leaving the body of the feline, the new xenomorph begins a massacre in prison. Ripley, who carries an unpleasant surprise inside, team with the inmates to destroy the insatiable Alien. When the "rescue" sent by Weyland-Yutani (where there is a replica of Bishop) arrives, Ripley sacrifices so that they do not experiment with what it takes in its belly.

Alien: Resurrection (1997)

It is directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman, Dominique Pinon, Gary Dourdan, Michael Wincott, Dan Hedaya and J.E. Freeman, among others. It came with $ 75 million dollars and grossed $ 161.3 million globally ($ 47.7 million in the US).

200 years after the events of Alien 3, in the year 2379, scientists of Weyland-Yutani manage to resurrect to Ripley and to alter it genetically by the DNA of an Alien queen that captured. They have also been doing different experiments with the DNA of Ripley and the Alien Queen, which results in a new creature even more fearsome than the well-known xenomorphs.

The whole action takes place aboard a science ship heading for Earth, where Mercenaries aboard, along with the Ripley clone, face different xenomoprhs that are loose, as well as the fearsome new creature that feels more affection for Ripley Than for Queen Alien. Weyland-Yutani's overarching ambition for control has meant that when this ship lands, it represents an uncertain future in Earth's habitat.

  • Although the saga continued leaving benefits in this last film, already showed clear signs of fatigue and attractive plot, being limited to only commercial productions.
  • For plot incongruities, to develop in very distant timelines and although it relates to the founder of Weyland Industries (Charles Bishop Weyland, interpreted by Lance Henriksen and whose humanoids of Aliens and Alien 3 were made in its resemblance), the films Alien Vs. Predator and AVPR: Alien Vs. Predator - Requiem do not have a chronological relationship to the 6 films that make up the saga of Alien. You have to see them as two independent films of the saga.

Alien Vs. Predator: AVP (2004)

Directs Paul W.S. Anderson. Starring Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Lance Henriksen, Ewen Bremner and Colin Salmon. It came out with $ 60 million and grossed $ 172.5 million worldwide ($ 80.2 in the US).

During an archaeological expedition on Bouvetøya Island in Antarctica, a team of archaeologists and other scientists are trapped in a battle between two extraterrestrial races that have been battling for centuries: the Predators and the Aliens. Team members realize that they have a fatal disadvantage with either species.

The 2004 expedition was organized by Charles Bishop Weyland, who recruits archaeologists, scientists, mercenaries and the experienced and rough guide Alexa (Lex). They investigate a heat source discovered in an old buried building, which they hope to claim for multinational communications company Weyland Industries.

Explorers unknowingly activate an ancient mechanism created by the Predators to gestate the birth, development and subsequent hunting of xenomorphs. This is how three of them realize the activation and come to Earth to exhaust another hunting campaign, including the humans who are there. The circumstances make one of the Predators and Lex join forces to defeat the xenomorphs and the Alien Queen that breeds them.

AVPR: Alien Vs. Predator - Requiem (2007)

Directed by Colin Strause and Greg Strause. Starring Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz and Johnny Lewis. It came with $ 40 million and grossed $ 128.8 million worldwide ($ 41.7 in the US).

Immediately after the events of AVP, the ship carrying the predator's corpse suffers an accident and falls back to Earth. The reason was a creature that left the body of the Predator, where an Alien embryo was brewing and that emerges as a mutation called Predalien. The new creature grows quickly and after eliminating all the Predators that were aboard, it crashes the ship in the forests of Colorado.

The Predalien has the ability to implant embryos inside every living thing it finds, so soon the small town in Colorado will go from being a quiet place to being a quarantined area and battlefield. Soldier Kelly - who has just returned home after serving in the Middle East - tries to escape the chaos with her young daughter and joins Dallas, an Expressionist who returned to town to be with her young brother. Together they survive the chaos unleashed by the xenomorphs, the Predalien, a new Predator who seeks to avenge his comrades and the national guard who wants to erase the people from spreading the bloody aliens. In the end a weapon belonging to the Predator, seems to be vital in the future plans of the Yutani company, which later associates with Weyland Industries for its interplanetary industrial development.

Upvoted, after a brief look for the effort of putting it together. Noticed it is autotranslated possibly even from an existing text. Wish i could take my vote back...

It is right. It is a translation of a publication that I made in my site www.musicacinetv.com . Everything is my own and I wrote it in Spanish because it is the original language of my web site.
