I'm not sure if any of you realize the answers that we are looking for are really the ones that most likely will get revealed in Alien: Covenant. Prometheus left us with David and Dr. Shaw wanting to go to where the engineers came from, their homeworld. Now that's we're we go with Alien: Covenant, the engineers homeworld. Dr. Shaw also wanted to know why they created us and then wanted to destroy us. I believe this too will be answered in Alien: Covenant. As for Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien and the Space Jockey, his story and the planet LV-426 this will be revealed in the next movie. We can definitely guess that there was some sort of Alien infestation again like in Prometheus that killed the Space Jockey and possibly caused him to crash land on LV-426. I believe the bigger answers we're searching for don't necessarily revolve around the Space Jockey and LV-426 but actually the continuation of Prometheus storyline and us finding out why the engineers wanted to destroy humanity even IF they didn't necessarily create us. So I think lots will be revealed in Alien: Covenant and we'll get some of the answers we are searching for..

We can also deduce that the Alien that chestbusted from the Space Jockey's chest most likely was a queen that laid the eggs on the Juggernaut and also on the Marine base in Aliens. I think Ridley Scott kinda gave this spoiler away since Prometheus shows engineers with their chests busted through. I think he was trying to allude to what happened on LV-426 with the Space Jockey

I love "The Crossing," but it may be a lie told by David, and I have been reading it's not in the movie.

Well, to create, one must destroy, so obviously brilliant things await.

Or do they? Is David going to be just another maniac who steals his good twin's identity? Did the flawless and original Noomi Rapace really need to be replaced by an actress who is pretty but in what has been shown so far, seems like a boring Ripley/Shaw clone? Rapace brought emotion to the sketchy writing she worked with. Daniels' message home to Dad depressed me. Bad acting. I could just picture the Law and Order guy getting her completely wooden, cliche hi/bye. A good actress but does not seem suited for the role. And is Tennessee going to stick out like a sore thumb in all the darkness?

The movie actually looks like a mix of Alien 3, Resurrection, and Prometheus. The Aliens will probably be as fake looking as the ones in Resurrection. Covenant truly looks like a bad Dark Horse Aliens comic. If you took away David, the movie would not even have the scope Resurrection tried to depict.

If David slaughters the planet's people just to do experiments or play God, and Shaw is written out, what's left? A boring crew, the hideous pale fake looking little backbursting retcons of Giger's authentic biomechanical demon, the fake headbanging Alien Resurrection slim jim monster that spooks our good buddy Tennessee...

I wanted a masterpiece. And "The Crossing" felt like a piece of one. Blood doesn't make a movie scary...it makes it nauseating.

I hope for the best but I believe the movie studio decided just to tell a generic sci-fi horror story, and ironically jettisoned the "intrigue" of the Engineers who were so disappointing in the first place as Giger Space Jockey Uncle Fester retcons.

A bad Alien movie at this point just means someone will have to reboot the first movie, which was perfection. That Scott is gone, and Giger is dead.

Five years for what looks like tripe. This movie is for all the marbles. Again: the Alien movies never quite recovered from the unnecessary deaths of Newt and Hicks. But Shaw was a leading character in Prometheus. It seems this movie wasn't planned out at all. Prometheus was good enough to make me care about what looked to be the story of David and Shaw on a shared quest for their creators.

And we get a boring planet, boring colonists, boring "action" and gore, Resurrection-style Aliens, Alien 3 grimness, and bursters that take away from the famous scene in the movie all this is leading up to. And Tennessee. Maybe he and Daniels will survive and do some more Last Supper product placement for Digiorno's pizza.

And it is impossible not to feel an AVP: Requiem vibe with all the gore and "everyday" characters.

But, even with Scott directing, the whole bottom line is to cut as many corners as possible and get non-fans to buy tickets. Disney's horrific Star Wars mockeries should give us all a clue--no one is worried about making art like Alien or just a great story like Aliens. Out in the woods of "Paradise," maybe we'll see the hunter and his son from Requiem and they can chew some 'baccer with good ol' boy Tennessee.

Jeesh . . . Suspend judgement much!? ;)

fwiw I thought a while back they would be first and foremost making a 'slasher in space' but for a good reason:

Hollywood is all about $$$ and I think for RS to be able to do his vision justice (which will not be the same as every fan boys/girls - mine included!) he had to go this route to get the financial backing and support for future movies.

This bugged me at first as I really want to see how the SJ links to everything else and have Prom questions answered, but see it like this:  As an ALIEN fan we are getting at least two more films, probably three, or even more?, to answer those questions and as a bonus the world gets bigger and more interesting.  And all of this in the hands of Sir Ridders :)

I feel like I've seen too much already but I could have stayed away . . . that said, I'll suspend judgement now and sit back and enjoy in a week or two with an open mind.

If we expect to see a certain thing and it isn't so, we are only setting ourselves up for disappointment.

I think we find the "Overlord" master race in the next movie, and David finds he will need to destroy them in order to save the universe as well, and that is what the space jockey will be---a "master" God/humanoid race.

@Jem No we cannot intelligently deduce a queen out of that. There is no queen. There will be no queen. It never existed and won't exist in the "real" canon. There are MANY other scenarios that could've set up the derelict on LV426 and it's cargo---none of which involve a queen.

i have been so hyped for this, we all have

but last week i decided its best to keep my feet on the ground, lower my expectations and enjoy what we get.

there were so many questions to be answered we all have our own  list.

top of mine are:

who is the bird faced creature in the mural with the engineer 223?

what relationship do these creatures have with the engineers?

did this bird creature partly contribute to the original alien egg?

what role do "the elders" play in all of this? (intro prometheus)

are the engineers 223 a creation of the elders?

however, none of the crew on the covenant can answer any of these questions.

shaw and david can but shaw role is said to be small and david may be choosey what he says considering the initial conversation with the crew will probably be directly after he "rescues them" at the scene of the burned civilisations.

there is no actor playing major/minor/speaking role as an engineer or being.

so put that with the track listing which gives a good indication of the flow and scenes of the film and there is only a few opportunities  for reveals.

what will they decide to tell us ?

for now the space jockey could be connected with the lv223 outbreak and crashed on next planet after chestburst. he had eggs on his jugganaut not ampules.  so that may be left for now.

that leaves us the prometheus questions and we can only hope.

one big relief for me was one of the actors who was interviewed on premier night, forget his name, but he said that we had to answer some of the questions on prometheus!

so that gave me a lot of hope cos i wasnt expecting that!!!!

Take This.... This is the blood of our lord

I can understand the negative outlook on this movie, we have to give it a chance first though...

We also have to be aware of how Prometheus 2 was being set up, before it went quite and then Logan came in and did a re-write.

Its likely FOX saw the Anticipation for Alien 5 compared to their Planned Prometheus to and Shaw and David try and find out why these Engineers created us and the whole Agenda of them including the Bio-Weapon and who created them too...

We have to remember Ridley Scotts comment "they want Aliens.. ill give then $^$%&$ Aliens"

We can only hope that the next movie clears some stuff up but who knows... Alien Awakens is supposed to be set before Alien Covenant, but a few have come out and claimed this is a misquote... and Alien Covenant will show us this.

I have information from someone who saw the last batch of Test Screenings and what they had said (never gave Plot details) is now seeming to be happening with those who have seen the movie.

Casual Fans will see it as a Horror and Scary Sci-Fi movie.

Casual Aliens Fans and Fanboys will actually like the movie.

Prometheus fans will be disappointed.

And Original Alien fans who are not so keen on Aliens on-wards will be well royally %£^£ off.

Time will tell though..... but i am suspecting the Aliens fanbase who may enjoy the movie, will change their minds when Aliens is retconned.... yep i can see this coming.
