MemberTrilobiteMay-03-2017 10:01 PMPrometheus basically gave it all away with teasers and trailers and we have been given even more info for AC it seems to me.
If you had to lean one way or the other, would you say we are being shown how it goes down or that lessons were learned and things by everyone involved in AC are out of sequence and edited to keep us off track?
It is a tough call, but I will say we are being cleverly misled.
Opinions?

MemberOvomorphMay-03-2017 10:20 PMFor the sake of those who haven't seen the movie I hope we're being badly misled about the plot timeline.
That being said I think that BD has a pretty good handle on how this movie pans out. He must have contacts on the inside ;)

MemberTrilobiteMay-03-2017 10:35 PMBD is in the know more than many I think. I have to turn away when he starts getting too deep into some things since I think he can pretty much call it. He probably has a bead on Awakening too.

MemberFacehuggerMay-03-2017 11:02 PMYou heard it here first. Dave is a Fox employee. Confirmed.
Seriously though, I feel like I already know the whole movie. That might be the intention though... to let fans that complained about Prometheus or potential moviegoers that are on the fence know they're getting an "alien" film.
I know some filmmakers love pleasing 'hardcore' fans, but the film industry is a business, and it's hard to think that their intent isn't to make the most money possible by marketing more to casual fans rather than hardcore fans. So in this case I think the spoilers are a pretty straightforward insight into what the movie is basically going to be... so people know there will be aliens and action and won't feel "tricked" when the movie ends up being different than what they originally thought based on vague previews and trailers.
With that said, I'm trying not to have super high expectations that the movie will be wildly different from what we've seen or that any of the spoilers are red herrings or misdirection, although that would be kind of cool. But I am hoping there will be at least a couple genuine surprises. Either way I'm still sure it will be amazing.

MemberOvomorphMay-03-2017 11:23 PMWell... I dont think there is anything in the trailers/spots to mislead us.
Do I know the plot or the whole movie by the trailers/spots? No. BUT we do know how certain deaths will occure. We get an idea what to expect.
If you consider the 10:00 min. Footage as well, which wasnt supposed to be seen by millions of people only a few. Than you know one larger sequence of the movie going down. Some speculated even those shown scenes werent how the movie is cut and have been edited to make it seem faster paced and more frightening and get the excitement higher. I think the sequences werent especially edited. I do think they are right from the movie.
I am still pumped cause i dont know the plot. Even though i am doubtful that the movie will just be a fast paced rushed alien roller coaster and go by pretty quick. To quick to really connect. I jope i am wrong.
Scary though that thdre havent been any interviews as of yet. No crew going by to jimmy kimmel etc.
Compared to king kong skull island they had a lot of interviews with the cast.
That leads me to point isnt fox going for the big blockbuster? Just another regularly put out horrorish movie?!

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2017 4:25 AMFrom the trailers and teasers, I conclude we already know quite a few things, but the very end was not shown. The scene with Daniels, Tennesse and the Xenomorph must happen through the end of the movie but clearly is not the conclusion, maybe even not the final showdown.

MemberTrilobiteMay-04-2017 2:46 PMcentrosphere Good point. At least the first two Alien movies had false endings before the real ones.

MemberFacehuggerMay-04-2017 3:15 PMI think prometheus was an innovative attempt to make a spiritual/religious sci fi movie as a way to extend sci fi into a new arena, I thought it was pretty good but It seems a lot of people wanted aliens redux.
the movie has to sell, and hollywood is doing this left right and centre with all big franchises. Thats why this film is looking like alien mk2 but with more guns available to the crew, fair compromise from the director.
for me, the story sells the film, and you can kind of guage what happens loosely, but i really think there is much more than the 'david plays god' angle to this film. I speculate that david could be under engineer influence somehow and is doing their bidding, and there are surviving engineers in the film, which one trailer appears to confirm.
