Alien: Covenant (speculation)

I honestly think Ridley Scott is a little too ambigious with his Alien franchise to give us all the answers we are looking for in regards to the upcoming Alien: Covenant. Prometheus was very ambigious with answers and gave more questions than answers. So I honestly think we might not get exactly what we're searching for. Like in regards to the Space Jockey which was reported to be in Alien: Covenant. This might have just been a big tease. As to whether or not Paradise is LV-426 I don't think we'll get that answer either. I honestly now believe Paradise isn't LV-426 because Prometheus LV-223 would have to be in the same system which wouldn't make sense in regards to David and Shaw's long journey to the engineers homeworld. Not to mention LV-426 has been stated in Alien and Aliens to be the size of a small moon while Paradise is a huge earth like planet. I believe some answers will be revealed but not all. What are your thoughts regarding this topic?

from words by John Shaw president of Theatre Management Associates. AC "is more Scifi than scares, similar to Prometheus in $." So this is very early to say, for me is a bigger movie than Prometheus, more interesting and action. But how knows.

In Aliens, Van Leuwen describes LV 426 as an un-surveyed planet, not a moon. So who’s description do you side with? Cameron’s or Scott’s?

I would prefer to say LV426 is a moon.

Indeed i think this is the plan....

They wanted to explore the Engineers, their Civilization, who are they, why did they create us, what else did they create and WHO created them. A movie that would give some answers but also leave some Mystery and have new Questions, one that would explain to a degree the Reason for those Experiments on LV-223 and loosely the Xeno connections without actually showing us the Traditional Xeno and Eggs or the Derelict.

Fans did not seem interesting in this, but their was a big BUZZ around Blomkamps Alien 5, and so they have gone and changed the plans for Prometheus 2 to give us a more Alieny Movie with Aliens and Eggs and Face Huggers.

To please the fans, throw out the fishing line and hook, and hook them into a new Prequel Series with Alien in the name and cover Aliens more.... a Prequel that could throw some Red Herrings.

So that a AC will give fans Xenos and Eggs, and it will loosely cover the Engineers, but hopefully will lead fans to maybe then ask more about who these Engineers are?

A Sequel would cover this aspect a bit... which then leads a 3rd movie to then give the Answers to Alien... be by then it a event created by David or a event created a long long time ago.

Paradise is not LV-426, the way the ship was landed (Juggernaught) the Eggs, the Xenomorph and 2000 Colonists does seem to point to the events leading to Alien.

But its not quite this, certainly as far as Paradise... this World also known as Planet 4 has its own Moons  (7 of them) and so its not LV-426 as thats a Moon, and Planet 4 has no visible Ring, yet the Planet in Prometheus which LV-223 Orbited had the Rings that we saw in Alien.

There are some who still think this is LV-426 and that the World will be destroyed and some event that leads to those Rings around the Planet in Alien....

They fail to notice in Prometheus set 10 years earlier that the Planet LV-223 and LV-426 Orbit all ready has its Rings.

@BigDave Great points mentioned by you and that's as good as I've heard from the differentiation between LV-426 and Paradise being completely different planets...

@BigDave I have to ask you a question. This set photo was teased from Alien: Covenant set. It's obviously the Space Jockey set. If the Space Jockey is in Alien: Covenant and if he's indeed on Paradise in a different ship than David and Shaw's what would be the meaning do you think?

This shot is actually from 2011 during the Shooting of Prometheus we see the Engineer (John Lebar) and a Camera Man Facing the Area where Ian Whyte (Main Engineer) is.

The ship is the same or similar to the Juggernaught in Prometheus (one in AC) the hallways however seem more closer to the Derelict but this could be the same for the Juggernaught and just in Prometheus we never see anyone walk in the same areas we will see in Alien Covenant.

The Juggernaught in Alien Covenant i dont think can be the Derelict, unless despite the Damage and how the ship has been overgrown/invested with Plant life, someone Manages in Future Movies to take off with this ship.. it cant be.

The Crashed Ship in AC does not have anyone in the Pilot Chair, unless someone climbs into it in the movie or sequel which i doubt.

Alien Covenant seems to be giving clues to one direction but i can find counter clues that may actually go against this and so i think a lot of Red Herrings are around.

The only likely way Alien Covenant can lead to Alien as far as Derelict i would assume would be another movie where David/Walter or Human Crew end up back on LV-223 or some other Engineer Outpost..

Or if indeed we eventually find out via Flash Back the Derelict is a Ancient Event that again would be linked to LV-223.

I've always been under the impression that the Derelict on LV-426 is a different type of craft than the Juggernaut. They're similar, but not identical. If you look closely, the Derelict is more horseshoe-shaped, whole the Juggernaut is more rounded. There's no way the Derelict would have been able to roll the way the Juggernaut did in Prometheus; it's "legs" are too.straight. (I'd go into the omnipresent sexual undertones in Giger's work, but I don't want to hijack this thread).

@BigDave very good points. Definitely didn't notice that. Sadly I don't think we'll get the answers we are looking for in Alien: Covenant which is a bit disappointing..

Actually, I have heard that Ridley Scott will be directing a third installment that will lead to the events of Alien. Last year I read (I forget what Hollywood Reporter I read this) that there will be a total of 3 new Alien movies: Covenant (of course) and then Scott doing a third to lead into Alien and then Bleumkamp's (sp?) Alien movie which was stated that it will cancel out Alien 3 and Resurrection (which is fine with me). I will see if I can find where I read this from but I do know that it was in an issue of The Hollywood Reporter in 2015 or '16.
