Since im only 19 years old (turning 20 this June), this is gonna be my first Alien movie cinema experience.

I have been a huge fan for years now and had hundreds of nightmares about the Alien, facehuggers, even the space jockey a few years ago...and i loved those nightmares! I can't wait to see this one on the big screen.

My question is the next: Who do you plan to watch it with? Alone or friends, family members?

Im bringing my brother with me, who is also a big fan.

This will be my first Alien movie in a theater as well! (I'm 18) I'm planning on going with some friends, and my parents said they may want to see it as well (they're big fans.) I'll probably go to see it on two separate occasions, since I plan on seeing it more than once anyway.

What's the story, MUTHUR?

LOVE the new generation coming up! Be prepared, this one will be the most like the original "Alien" to all of you. BUT, there is still no comparison to going to the original Alien in 1979, not knowing what to expect, even though the monster was on magazines all over the world by the release date, it was still SO surreal and scary and fun and scary and dark and different all at the same time.

Alien:Covenant is truly the third "real" "Alien Universe" movie, but only the second true "Alien" horror film ("Aliens" wasn't horror by any stretch of the imagination). Have fun!

I missed out on seeing ALIEN in the cinema as well, as it came out some eight years before I was born. Didn't see the sequel movies either (which doesn't really bother me much as I don't really care for them). Saw AVP but of course it doesn't count, and I'm still trying to erase the memory of AVPR from my mind.

Got to see Prometheus in the cinema, and that was great. Blew my mind. Was expecting another bug hunt, but instead got a movie that felt like ALIEN but thought like Blade Runner. Stayed to see it again--only time I've ever done so. Just wish it had been on a nicer theater--it was in disrepair and was damp and smelled like feet.

I get to see Covenant in just over a month, and I'm going to see it on the IMAX. Finally, the proper experience for an ALIEN movie! Man, I can't wait!

*Edited because half my reply didn't post.

@Starlogger, i saw ALIEN when it hit the cinema screen back in 79 and the hype was on an equivalent as AC is now, and there was no internet, as PC was in its primordial infancy, our high school got its first Apple computer in 1979 that used compact cassettes for data storage(lol) no one was allowed to touch it except the teachers or braniac yr 12 students so marketing was was done the old way.

I even read the novel before seeing the movie, and the space jockey in the pilot chair scene blew me away as there is no SJ in the novel, so i hope the next gen carry the ALIEN flame into the future when us older gen is gone.

My first theatrical Alien experience was Alien Resurrection (i'm 27) My dad took me and my brother I think to see it.I had loved Alien and Aliens so it was pretty special for even though I was only 7 years old lol. With the exception of AVP:Reqiuem(the horror!!!)I've seen every Alien movie theatricality since Resurrection which means I saw AVP and Prometheus.Alien isn't as common at the box office as F@&king superheroes are lol

My First Experience was Prometheus, i was not old enough to get into Alien and Aliens, well i was 10 when Aliens came out.

I never went to any of the others, i wanted to go to Alien 3 but people i knew did not want to go and someone i knew managed to obtain a VHS Bootleg not long after release lol

I watched Alien 3 when it came out on VHS though, Alien R and AVP again people i knew who would have gone to see it, was not keen so i never saw them.. but i was close to watching AVP in Cinema lol

So yep Prometheus was my first Cinema experience.

I haven't seen any of them in a theatre. I will try for AC.

My first Alien experience was Alien3 on a pirated Russian VHS filmed with a hand-held camera from a back row in a theatre God knows where. It was such crappy quality and so dark, no details were visible, and translation (dub over) was random at the most. Next was Aliens, in a Russian "theatre," but it was also a pirated version, questionable quality, yet I was fascinated by what I saw. Next was reading the ADF novelization (in Russian) of the first three films (without seeing the 1979 original yet). Next was the actual big-screen experience (in a dollar theater though, in Tennessee) of the Alien:Resurrection. Loved it! Then I got all four on DVD as a gift and saw them in proper order. AVP and AVPR were watched on HBO. Prometheus came first from iTunes, then HBO, then blu-ray edition. I saw each one at least five times... The Covenant though... I should go to the theatre, it promises too much!

My first theatrical was Aliens, I was a little boy... :D My brother was kissing his girlfriend somewhere in the cinema behind me so I was watching the movie with my right eye and watching my brother's actions with my left eye. So ridiculous - I know. :)

I saw all of them at the cinema with the exception of Alien, it's funny that I saw Aliens first then Alien many years later, I saw Alien on tv when I was 16, home alone, midnight, it was in German, at that time I did not understand anything from it but by the end of the film I was so scared that I was unable to leave the room. :D :D

sataan - I would like to know more about your nightmare with the Space Jockey! :D

My first "Alien" was Aliens. Back in, when was it 86? My older brother came back from his military shift and rented a VHS of Aliens. We watched it together. I was 13 back then and was like "WOW!".

A cut version of Alien came every now and then on the telly. In the late 80ties I watched an uncut version at my sisters. She even had Giger's books.

Alien 3 was my first cinema experience in 92.

Eine Theorie die nicht auf Etwas solidem basiert ist für gewöhnlich nur Geschwätz.

Thanks Ati and good story! :)

My nightmare with the Jockey happened before Prometheus was out and it was still considered a monster, not a big, bald white humanoid.

I don't know how and why but i found myself in a very dark, eerie place, something like the cargo hold with the eggs in Alien. Not knowing how i got there, i just started to move around and see what i can found...and of course, like a guy of my age at that time, i started taking pictures with my phone about these Giger designed walls around me that actually moved a little bit...the wall had it's own...life, i guess? As i sat down to look at the pictures, i noticed a figure in one picture.

By the time i looked up from my phone, it was standing really close to me and had a really low "voice", like a sound...it didn't have eyes but i knew it was looking at me, facing me.

I started to run away but i couldn't run too fast (im pretty sure u all had this nightmare before when u can't run) and kept looking back at it while it didn't do anything, just that sound...it made me go crazy and i fell down to the floor...and i woke up. :) Glad i did, lol

This will be my first cinema experience for an Alien film too! (16 soon, and missed Prometheus) I must say, I happen to love all the Alien/Predator Universe/Franchise films (but some are weaker than others).

I am so pumped to see this! Gonna be great. I haven't seen many horror/thriller films at the cinema, but the few that I did, I loved. So I imagine this will smash all of them!

I think I'll love this because I love Jurassic World, The Force Awakens, Predators, Terminator Salvation. All of which are from franchises I love and were my first cinema experience for each respected franchise.

@airshaft+surprise yep, I read the novel before the movie too. That SJ scene AND the birthing of Kane blew us all away. NOTHING like that had ever been seen or attempted. It was fantastic.

sataan - Scary! :) Everybody around 20 dreams similar nightmares, I mean 'can't escape' dreams, it's typical if I know correctly.

You mentioned the voice, what did he say?

sataan

MemberOvomorphApr-25-2017 3:38 PM

It didn't really say anything that i could understand, it was just a sound...but oh man it was scary, lol!

Ati

MemberPraetorianApr-25-2017 3:49 PM

I would like to be 20 again! :D

Ati "You are the youngest here".

Not at all. I was 11 years old when Alien came out. I just never went to theaters much- lived outside cities and transportation was sparse.

Sorry, dk, forgive me, it was just a joke, I could be your son.

Ati- all good. Not seeing an Alien film at my age seems rebellious in a weird way.

Dad is to blame for my fandom - showed me Alien when I was 12 and Aliens a year later- both on VHS an Alien gave me super nightmares and after Aliens my dad said, so what did think?  I acted cool and said it was good and then proceeded to pour my 7up down my shirt when trying to take a sip.  Needless to say I was blown away!  Then a couple Christmas traditions my Dad sis and I watched Alien 3 in theater and later Alien resurrection(eh-damn end monster). Saw Prometheus in IMAX glory!  I'm 36 so my dad must've waited until I was old enoughish so I will do the same for my guys.

Great post, respect to the new generation!

I was too young to watch Alien in 79, but around 85 my older sister and her friends forced me to watch Alien when I was about 10 ( on VHS ) it left an indelible mark on me for life....

I don't think any film of its genre has maintained its longevity, it's like a fine wine, it gets better with age

Fox released the Directors cut on the big screen about 2003/2004 ( someone correct me on the date if I'm wrong ) so I got to see Alien on the big screen in the end

Tonight I will be watching Alien with my no1 sci-fi friend.

As far as AC goes,  I will be watching it a day early with my friend, then I have rounded the troops up for a second viewing weekend of 13th May ' Dads Cinema Club!'

My dad saw Alien back in the day whaen I was a kid. He was in the Coast Guard and saw it during that time. He told me he saw a movie called Alien that was pretty scary and gave me a Space Invaders cartridge for my Atari 2600. Little did he know the sci fi fan he was grooming! Those were the days!
