Am i the only one worried they are going to say that David 8 is the ultimate creator of the ancient bio mechanical horror we call the Alien? and that alien covenant will be its first conception in the universe? It just seems like with all iv read on this site that this movie may go in that direction.

Not gonna happen, don't worry.

I doubt it, as the Derelict on LV-426 is much older, with thousands of eggs. David might have been researching in the same direction as earlier Engineer researchers, accidentally finding the same development path??

IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

Isn't the Mural you have depicted from Prometheus with what appears to be an alien as well as face huggers at least 2000 years old?  No way Davis was the originator!

Sorry, David, not Davis!!

Yes, I fear they are reducing our beloved alien into nothing more than the pet science project of some paranoid android.

I never wanted "Engineers". I wanted Space Jockeys: enigmatic creatures in their own right, but ones that tried to cultivate the alien species, and it back-fired badly.

If these films aren't the genesis of the alien then what are we doing here? Why before Alien? And why spend so much story on this mad scientist robot?

Paranoid Android!! Radiohead are the creators, or at least knew who were hahahaha.

Im ok with David being the creator and seeding the Derelict on LV426 as long as it follows the theory that David sees himself as the redeemer against mankind, and that the Xenos are the ultimate counter to human aggressive survivalism. A more perfect universe virus/plague than we are. But they have to make him seriously badass!!

I just fear the alien will end up being nothing more than the creation of a mad  robot and no longer be "alien" he would lose that lovecraftian horror feel. The fear of alien being out there waiting to be stumbled upon as an ancient evil was part of what made it so scary. If he all the sudden is the product of humanity even as indirectly as david making it, alien would cease to be alien. I do hope the remember the murial that was in Prometheus and what ridly said about the crahsed ship an alien being thousands of years old. I was excited to see the alien mural they posted for the new movie and hope its more than just a poster. Id like to see it in this movie in one of the temple's or in one of the ships to show david didnt just make them all on his own. I dont mean to rant but ot would just really shrink the scale of the universe and threat that the xenomorph was.

That and it would just be a bit absurd to butcher the time line.

@Jeri.theSOB good points sir! You are right about it losing its Alien feel if it was creator by David. Ancient evil is much more sinister.

The Xeno existed PRIOR to the David series. Don't fear.

@Starlogger I really hope your right. id hate to see this movie go down the wrong path and confuse new fans and annoy old fans by trying to wrap up loose ends by making everything related..

@Jeri.thesob

i totally agree with you, if they go this route and certain things are rationally lining up in regards to David being the creator of the True Alien. I prefer the ancient cosmic horror feel of this walking fever dream laying in wait out there in the cosmos, put there by who knows what cosmic and terrifying powers and for equally horrific reason or purpose. I loved that about Alien it was so Lovecraftian, like a fever dream that sticks in your brain, lodging itself there to stir and shake your imagination and fears. Which exactly what the film Alien did, it lodged itself in our subconscious, for all these years, otherwise we wouldn't be on this message board nor would such board exist without that tone and cosmic horror elements displayed by Ridleys classic from 1979.

in regards to my fears, and in reference to what Black Winter witch said above ... In Alien Dallas said "[observing the Space Jockey] Alien life form. Looks like it's been dead a long time. Fossilized"... They might follow the train of thought that the space trucker was just making a guess by its appearance that to him it looked ancient and fossilized. They kind of retconned the size of the Space Jockey to fit the size of the Engineers. I have watched both Alien and Prometheus back to back and compared images, the original space jockey is huge, huge, even much larger than even the Engineer would be, but sadly they went this route instead of creating and exploring some non humanoid life form that it appeared to be  in the original film. I believe egg morphing or mutation will play a part in the explanation of the derelict because that was an original idea and I actually do feel that concept works well with ghastly alien terrors and maintains the Lovecraftian horrific elements that were in the original film. I suspect that the 2000 colonists in cryo will somehow become the eggs on the derelict, there is no reason to include 2000 frozen colonists in the screenplay of AC unless they serve a purpose or are a plot device. Now once you realize they must serve a purpose then what could 2000 colonists link to, the first thing I thought of was is the load of what looked like thousands of eggs that Kane discovered in Alien... It links up.

i hope they don't do it this way because I prefer the ancient Lovecraftian horror laying in wait on that deserted LV426, unexplainable and undefinable, and total horror. Having David or any of our characters put that derelict there lessens my favorite part of Alien, the ancient evil, cosmic horror, unrelenting fever dream feel of the original. I fear they may go the route I explained in previous paragraph but I pray they don't... Maybe I'll get my wishes and they won't explain everything or even better they'll either introduce or hint at an even more terrifying race of sentient beings that control the engineers or were the inception of it all including the goo or the biomechanical nightmare we all know and love

i try to just think back to the mural and hope that was a hint that the alien already existed and that david is only recreating something he discovered when studying the black goo and engineer records.

the mural from prometheus i put up top has facehuggers and a xenomorph like monster so id hope they dont forget about that detail and ignore it.

also i was watching the special features for prometheus and found it interesting when one of the special effects crew made a comment on the alternate fifield design. and was saying he was meant to look like he was turning into a xenomorph. when they cut to ridley scott talking about how he had a hard time choosing whether to do the cgi alternate (which looked better in MHO) or the one we saw in the film with the prosthetic, he stated that he only chose the one we saw because he felt it would have been a waste of the actors make up work and performance if they didn't use it and he felt there was no gravity. instead of just saying that he wasn't turning into a xeno.

my point being i do sorta believe that this was meant to be a hint that the black goo is a product of the xenomorph or some type of dna code for building them.

especially since the goo when infecting things turns them into xenomorph like creatures or making things wich try to do what xenos do.  for example the worms turned into hammerpeeds which were very sexual like the face hugger and tried to get down peoples throats.

the deacon i feel was just a fluke and made under very specific conditions like the movie but still resembles something xeno in nature.

maybe im crazy but the black goo i feel is more than just random genetic mutation. other wise why have a mural that shows a xenomorph like creature with facehuggers around it, and then place it behind a human like head unless you were trying to show what the stuff did.
