Horrible scenario regarding David

First and foremost; long time lurker, first time poster. Please don't be too brutal...

Now the trailers so far have been great, and I am unbearably hyped for this movie. So much so that I yelled at a guy in the Cinema last night for being a noisy useless waste of space, after he was talking over the trailer.

And the trailer on a cinema screen.....to quote Mr Reaves in every movie he's ever been in, ever....whoaaaa!

And for the record the 2 minute trailer was better than the entirety of "Get Out", which was exceptionally poor.

Anyway. I digress. There is a single scenario that, though unlikely, is possible. And it would see me walking out of the cinema and disowning the whole bloody franchise.

The gravity of this possible plot device should be made clear, I grudgingly forgave 3 and resurrection...not that I'll watch them again, by choice. This, if used, would kill it entirely.

So, on to the plot device in question. If this has already been mentioned, I apologise.

The scene, or second of a scene, with the cloaked figure of David in the corn field with his flare gun....he looks somewhat comfortable shedding so much light on himself.

With god knows what running around, exploding from backs/necks/chests, savaging people and generally being mildly irksome - the last thing I'd want to do is make myself more visible!

What if he has no need to fear? We know he has been on the planet for 10 years, we know there were a society of humanoids (humans/engineers/something else), we know he has been experimenting to try and create the perfect organism.

Furthermore; we know he has experimented on engineers (in his workshop/lab) and I think it's fairly safe to assume Shaw ended up in a good many test tubes, during his experimentation.

So, he's been there. Amusing himself. Working. Researching. Creating a number of failed attempts at what he is striving for. He has had access to (or created) the spores as well as having human(/oid) specimens.

So it's not unreasonable to assume he has seen a Neomorph before. So far, so good...right? Nothing to infuriatingly annoying mentioned so far.

Don't worry, I'm getting to it:

I swear to whatever diety seems marginally less stupid at the time (right now it's the invisible pink unicorn). If they have David with a wee army of pet Neomorphs, that he's sending in to take out the newborns and rescue the Covenant crew after their birthing escapades, I will have a fit and that'll be that.

If David has backup in the form of "pets" from his previous experiments, he would have no need to stay hidden in shadows. If one of the baby Neomorphs went his way, his "pet" would mess it up.

I'm not saying it's likely, in fact it's very unlikely (especially after how retarded Jurassic World was with the Raptor bits).

But it's also not inconceivable, 10 years and at least 1 human host, plus the flora and fauna that may initially have inhabited the planet and the society of humanoids that appear wiped out (if they were alive when David crashed/landed).

So yeah, if we get David rocking in with his trusty creature army of trained creations, flares firing, war cries abound. I'll be pissed.

We know he wins the trust of the Acting Captain (or he's a sodding idiot and deserves to be face hugged), I just hope he does so single handedly and not with the help of any possible creations.

Enough from me. I've given you ample ammunition with which to slaughter me lol. I'll retire to my corner and continue observing.

Take care,

RX

No need to retire to a corner - I will be right with you on this one - although I think his stance here is to get the humans to follow him to safety - or so they think - similar to Tim Robbins in War of the Worlds - knew this reminded me of something!!! Lol

I think You're on to something here. I don't think it's to far fetched to believe that the covenant crew meets something horrific(neo: s maybe) in the field at night and David shoots a flare (lights from above) to scare the neo:s away, saving the covenant crew, earning their trust. Wich is what he wants. And I think that this might be the first glimps of David we get in the film.

Parkerparrot that's most likely what happens in that flare-shooting scene; the introduction of David and his attempt to gain trust, so that he can lure the crew members into traps for experiments (yeah that guy)

Neo...

We're in for one nasty ride, I hope!

I just can't wait. Never been so thrilled  about a movie!

Hi Ranting Xeno welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure I'm getting this right, but I think David being of no interest to the MORB biology is part of your concern? And then him having a little MORB army.

I hope too that David doesn't have a little gang of MORBS doing his bidding. But, with his having had 10 years to study and manipulate them, he may be able to communicate with them, so brace yourself for that.

And brace yourself too for the MORBS to have no interest in murdering him. In the original Prometheus script (Alien:Engineers) he was able to play with a face hugger before allowing it to attack Shaw (he is after all synthetic. Look it up, it's a creepy scene). I would be surprised if a similar scene didn't play out here.

Yeah Parkerparrot I can't imagine all the shocking horrors that Ridley has in store for us! And we get to see the film May 17th here in Sweden! (I hope I'm here then lol)

I'm just glad that I managed to get my lu... excitement back despite me personally being super-disappointed with Prometheus!

@parkerparrot Cannot wait as well. I can only remember anticipating the Original 1977 Star Wars, and the 1979 Alien as much as I am A:C. Prometheus was close, but this one has gone over the top, because the trailers show us it is real horror...finally...again!

Welcome Ranting Xeno

Indeed this would be a Concern...

But AC could be full of flaws and plot holes or well silly things that may make Prometheus seem rather Polished... but time will tell and i am sure those behind the movie would have looked at the criticism of Prometheus and how some of these such silly scenes did not go down to well.

When the leaked Prop room was released, and we saw the Head of Some Hybrid i thought this has to be a design room for the Creature Design Team as i could not swallow David somehow created a Hybrid Monster that looked larger than a Xenomorph and be able to decapitate its head

But i think this Prop in General could be just that a design phase and not actually in the movie as the Served head of something David created.

Onto the Concerns about how David could walk among such Creations....  The Alien Franchise from Game Standpoint and especially Alien: Isolation taught us the Xenomorph even in Adult form has no interest in Synthetics unless they are a hindrance to its plans.

I think this could be used as a explanation to how they may not attack David as he is no concern to them... however... it would appear the Neomorphs are more Savage and Animalistic and so maybe this means they could attack David.

I do hope David does not have control over them by Hive Mind Control or something, maybe he has created a Device or some kind of Chemical that would keep them away within a certain radius but i certainly hope David can not directly order and control them.... this would be  sooooo... Jurassic Park or what ever the last one was called... never seen it..   Human Controlled Dinosaurs? No thanks..

I think the scene with the Flairs could be explained as a way to control them as far as make them run off... most animals even deadly ones are scared off by bright lights, explosions and noises and fires.  So that could make sense.

Hi and thanks for the welcomes, everyone. And your replies :)

I agree 100% that David has to play savior, to entice at least one of them to the egg chamber, as we have seen.

I assume his rescue will be nothing short of spectacular to create instant trust with captain oops-theres-something-on-my-face.

My only worry was David on a motor cycle or a hybrid creation called Blue.

"But who is the Alpha, David?"

"The trick is not minding that you're the Alpha. Chaaaaaargeeeee my pretties!"

As I said, it probably won't happen. And if it does I'm absolutely sure Ridley will do in in a way where it isn't contrived, comedic or retarded.

I just wish May 12th (hell yeah for the advanced UK screenings!). I cannot wait!!!!

Oh, and BigDave, a chemical would actually make scientific sense. I couldn't disagree with it if they went down that route. The Neomorphs are more animalistic and so may be susceptible to pheromones.

"My only worry was David on a motor cycle or a hybrid creation called Blue."

Maybe this is where the Xeno gets its Bio-Mechanical looks from?

What if he wasn't like you in the fact that he wanted to draw the neomorph because if he was responsible for the creation of the neomorph he would want to study it as anyone who unknowingly creates something that functions similarly to your desired to your end goal, and David is not human in the fact that he doesn't fear death.

Look upon my works, you mighty, and despair

Ranting Xeno

MemberFacehuggerMar-20-2017 6:11 AM

True, but "death" (or manglement) would be inconvenient to his work lol

That is a reasonable point though.

@Neomorph!!!

I was not aware of that they moved the opening night to the 17:th in Sweden! Where did You get that info?

@Starlogger

In 77 I was to young to see the first Star Wars movie, but I remember the hype! I also did'nt see Alien in the movies due to the same reason, but my brother did. I can still remember him describing the monster to me... And now we get to see another Alien film directed by the maestro !!!

This is so great...

@Ranting Xeno

If we see THAT(xeno the blue) I will never watch another RS flick...

No worries, welcome Ranting Xeno (I like the name, it gives me a hilarious mental image but no offense intended).

As for David, maybe he is over-confident?

Plot-holes, sure that could be true but then I guess that they must have learned something from Prometheus, right? If they haven’t understood that by now then something is very strange. Yes AC will probably have some things that will seem odd but maybe less so than Prometheus but you can probably find holes in every movie if you look closely.

As far as the release date for AC is concerned you can find it here:

I find that web page to be a credible source when it comes to things like this.

David cant be the xeno creator. The xeno could be a design for wrecking humanoid species.

how could xeno eggs be on the derelict two thousand years prior to prometheus, unless they were an attack weapon, as the director said.

maybe david wants to develop a xeno to wreck humans, who he considers inferior, or david has been tutored by the engineers and follows their protocols?

MemberDeaconMar-20-2017 2:46 PM

I can see your concerns Babylonxeno

We dont know what direction they have taken now, and David could create something like this and for the exact purpose, but i think they Set up Store in Alien to show us a Ancient Event, and Prometheus seemed to back this up.

I would rather had seen David follow some Blueprints and end up creating something similar but not the Exact Eggs on the Derelict thats sitting on LV-426 in Alien

I still think this event will be shown as Ancient however.
