In a standard hive we have the queen, the eggs which produce the facehuggers, and then the drones. But where do the animal variants come in?Would they be excepted into the hive?Or would they be outcast.Would they even get along with the rest of them. What do you think. Also i must thank ali81,his comments in a separate thread inspired this one.Thank you ali81.

I like the idea they wouldn't tolerate each other. going by our own species to a point, we r all human. we all have the same base genetic code yet when u look at large cities, we tend to create mini communities within these cities. we seem to tend to stick to our own so to speak. when moving to a large city, people from other countries, religious faiths, colour etc tend to move to communities where there are more of theyr own. add into that mix the sheer aggressive nature of the xeno and id say they wouldn't tolerate others berthed from different species. now u have to use ur imagination a bit. say a dog alien, a sheep alien and a human alien r in the same location. within 5 miles in 3 different directions we have a human settlement, a dog kennel and a field full of sheep. id say each alien would move in the direction that fits theyr now dead host.

Human population is an excellent comparison. We've also seen movies like District 9 cover this sort of thing as well.I've seen my fare share of different animals fight each other,as well as insects.

I think once the hives become large enough they may well start competing for territory? though in a situation such as the original alien movie I def don't think theyd tolerate each other. I def think they would try and kill each other first.

One idea I've had is if the alien would have a more primitive side if found in their own environment.

thery basic function is the continuation of the species. as ash says theyr unburdened from conscience or sense of morality, just the instinct to survive. in comparing them to us they would seem the perfect organism.

Im trying to recall Aliens Female war where they went to the alien planet to capture a queen and bring it back to earth.I think there may have been depictions of Alien infighting.

I do remember the comic that depicted the red aliens fighting the normal black dudes. canon debate aside, I think it would be evidence of a lot of fans opinions that rival hives even from the same host species wouldn't tolerate each other

Which comic is that?

for the life of me I cant remember the name of it. its the one where they have synthesised the xeno jelly into a kind of steroid and the company has ran out so they go to the xeno home world for the royal jelly, I think

I'll try to figure out what that one is.

Put this in the other Dog Alien Thread..

But it applies here too.

I think the Organism takes on traits of the Hosts so they can fit in with the Environment of the Hosts..

The big question would be the nature of the Organism once a Hive is set up.... to they react and work well with others... is there some kind of Pheromone or Genetic Trait thats detected that allow them to determine which Hive they are from.

I think something like this would determine how they react with each other like different Ant Colonies... rather than being different Species..

For example... in Aliens... if 10 Humans became Hosts and created Warriors and a Dog was infected on the same outpost... i would think some programing is passed on to them.. so that the Dog Xeno and Human Xeno would work together for the greater good of that hive

I don't think there would be a problem with other species aliens. In Alien 3 the runner didn't kill Ripley even though she was a human and was going to produce a humanesque xeno.

Humans may not be able to tolerate differences, but the xenos seem much more hive minded to let something like what species origin get in the way. Chances are all xenos at least from that hive are fine regardless who species they came from.

Alien Genocide was the book/comic where two different hives are competing for territory.

In Genocide they were fighting because in Earth/ Female War, Ripley had abducted the Queen of Queens and taken her back to Earth. A couple of different hives were vying to see which of their respective Queens would become the next Queen of Queens.

I find the idea of Aliens fighting each other to be pointless.  Their overwhelming desire to survive and propagate is hardly going to be helped by killing each other.

So genocide is a sequel to female war.I'll keep my eyes open for it.
