MemberOvomorphJan-20-2017 5:13 AMThis may have already been covered in some others posts on this site. So apologies all round. So basically the space jockey, is a completely different species or in other terms the master race. Engineers, a little like our androids like david are servants to our wishes. The space jockeys used clones, engineers of there species, to do planet life seeding missions, sacrificial. They also would be used for war, and where treated as subhuman, or lack of a soul. This also corresponds with david, in all purposes both engineers, and our androids have a large distaste for free will. I come to the conclusion that the engineers over throw there masters, with the introduction of the black goo, which by all accounts they where used to guard and distribute to other planets. In there revolution managed to destroy it all. The engineer in cryo, its mission was to exterminate any off spring of the jockey coming to fruition. Humans,But i could be talking aload of pants. First attempt at this so please be nice lol. Thoughts would be cool

MemberFacehuggerJan-20-2017 7:19 AMHey JJG, welcome!
The sub-species of Jockey/Engineer has been talked and touched upon on a few different threads but you have an interesting take on it with the Engineers being clones to seed life and the correlation of Jockey creates Engineer to Humans create Synthetic life. Interesting view!

MemberPraetorianJan-20-2017 8:47 AMWelcome aboard JJG, I like your ideas!
There has been lots of talk in the past about the LV-223 Engineers being clones. It's highly possible they are clone-gardeners who may have rebelled against their maker, which as you say, ties in rather fittingly with David and his actions and agenda.
It's assumed that the last Engineer was heading to Earth with his cargo, before things went to pot. What if he was actually trying to sabotage that mission and redirect the cargo to his makers home world? Or, one [or all 3] of the dead chestbusted cryo-Engineers was a saboteur. The Hologram Engineer we see setting the destination at start up may not necessarily be the surviving cryo Engineer.
Without doubt there must be a higher creative source. What remains to be explained is who they are and what other creations they are responsible for. Did the same creator race produce the Morb and the Engineers? Was the Engineer technology stolen and adapted, from that of the Space Jockey?
To elaborate on your speculation as to whether the Space Jockeys are the Master Race, not sure, it's a possibility, but they could be yet another sub-creation in the grand scene of things, or a completely different species who became caught up in events, perhaps with devastating consequences, possibly resulting in their demise.
The Space Jockey [who to me, is not an Engineer in a suit] piloting the Derelict from ALIEN may yet turn out to have been on a heroic mission, sacraficing himself in the process. That's how I wish it would turn out!
So many questions, some of which will be answered in Covenant, some in the next sequel/s, hopefully! :)

MemberChestbursterJan-20-2017 9:54 AMLet's be honest. Space Jockeys being different from the engineers is never going to come out of Ridley's canon.
With that being said, it's a cool idea and someone should go rouge and write a novel detailing this into the lore. Canon or not, there's no reason an enterprising writer shouldn't play with the concept

MemberFacehuggerJan-20-2017 10:04 AMI'm pretty sure that it's been confirmed that the Space Jockey was an Engineer. "Space Jockey" was just a pet name given by the production team. Sorry. Fanboys like to let their imaginations run wild and pretend that it's something else, but it isn't.

MemberPraetorianJan-20-2017 11:07 AMI am well aware that the SJ in Prometheus is an Engineer, but there is actually no reason why the original SJ could not be introduced, even in flashback or through storytelling device as another entity entirely. We do not even need to see them.
The Engineers got their tech from somewhere, many people from this site are on board with that idea, and Ridley can do whatever he likes in his Canon!
Wanting it doesn't make it so, but it is perfectly feasible and possible. Nobody can be absolutely certain at this point in time where Ridley wants to take things, he has backtracked and changed things before. His canon is my ALIEN canon, and I'll be on board with whatever he does in the future!

Write us the story you envision. Can't hurt right?

MemberNeomorphJan-20-2017 3:55 PMlove the idea but I don't see it being the way it works out. think RS has even confirmed the SJ and engineers to be the same.there is so much that can be imagined and investigated but I don't see it being done in films. the dark horse comics and books r the best way for us to see this kind of twist take place and id love to see it. engineers cloned by SJ's either as a way to keep the species going or as sacrificial life forms for the SJ's god, the xeno where some have now rebelled and there has been a huge civil galactic war and the SJ is rely on theyr cloned followers to put down the rebel uprising, possibly using the xeno to do this on a planetary scale. this could explain the facilities fate on lv223?
