Beying that the Covenant crew is on mission to a mysterious planet. What kind of animal/creatures would you expect and hope to witness? (all beying potential breeding methods of the black goo and xenomorphs). I know these are all earth creatures but outer worldly life could have traits, similar looks and functions.

Woah . . . that's a BIG question lol ;)

You could almost answer this in two ways: 1.  How might any organic life be present in the galaxy and could it be based on Earth like models?  Which begs another question:  Will all life follow the same laws/principles? i.e. similar DNA or would life evolving elsewhere independent of Earth, e.g. Europa's under surface oceans, be completely different?

In more ALIEN-verse speak: 2.  Will life have evolved through black goo experiments/accidents and if so, what will it look like?  If not, what kind of life would we expect to see that has 'evolved' on Paradise?

No. 1 is so huge I'm leaving well alone lol ;)

re 2.  I'm gonna go down a pure fantasy route, not based on any particular evidence or theory, just for fun :)

So this is also not so much 'expect to see' but would like to see:

Two types of xeno: underground and overground, with the former being white.  With both being more fully organic than the xeno in ALIEN (a la Deacon).   We may then also see the emergence of a bio-xeno at some point!

I would also like to see some Giger bio/mechanical life forms, outside of the xeno (Shaw perhaps?)

I would also like to see some of the native life on Paradise such as small insects, plants and bugs.  I think they would have to be similar to what we already know but different somehow, e.g. very quick and aggressive crabs, carniverous plants etc. (this could become Avatar though if were not careful, which was fine imo but perhaps not the tone for an ALIEN film, lol)  I think that's why Giger's work is so fascinating - it is familiar yet so nightmarish and alien all at the same time!

The crew would surely have to be very careful (unlike Prom) when entering an ALIEN environment, even if it is Earth like.  Who knows what a tick bite or even a cut could lead to (not to mention a face-hug or nip of the black stuff, lol). . . So I imagine we may see some of the native flora and fauna at close quarters, particularly early in the film.

I don't think Ridley wants to copy Avatar....Also, the budget $$$$$$ just isn't there....Takes 100's of artists /designers/programmers to worldbuild....Too easy to get bogged down in the details of the animal/plant life(Avatar).

I would think Paradise is desolate and void of large life forms(The Covenant crew will supply the Xenomorphs and the rest is pods/eggs and goo).

HAWLEY GRIFFIN - The one thing I hope to see is algae or moss - just enough life to know that it is out there beyond Earth! That, for me, would be exceptionally encouraging if I were a deep space explorer! This was an exceedingly fun topic to consider! Thank you so much for presenting this to us! :)

For anyone that's interested in this in a non-ALIEN kind of way I will post a link below to a very interesting (to me) documentary about finding life on another planet.

It's set in the future and all simulated, but based on biologists models and theories.  The early 'AI' sent from Earth is also quite cool :)

Its a interesting Question... but one that would the movie go deep into as far as Scientific... they never gave this 100% thought in previous movies as we are talking Fiction and little things they would overlook...

I am refering to Paradise and the Scenes we have seen that are related to the other recent Paradise Post...  The world is not baron and desolate like LV-426 or even slightly like LV-223.

The World is very Earth like, its the kind of place you could settle down with a Ship and start to colonize with ease, just like the great explorers like James Cook and Christopher Columbus etc

But while on the outside we could see this as just like the discovery of lands in the past on Earth... like New Zealand discovered by Europeans in 1642, however there would have been Native Polynesians who had been there for 300+ years prior

But if we assume Paradise would be like New Zealand 700+ years ago....  we still cant be sure how habitable Paradise Would be...

The same would be when Mankind eventually travels to a Earth Like World (Star Trek Class M) while a World may have Jungle like Flora....  any explorers would face the task of learning about the Environment from scratch.

See a Tree with a Luscious looking Fruit.. how can we be sure its not highly Poisonous?  See a Small Insect or Spider looking Organism about the size of a Lady Bug/Bird and can we assume it does not have a venomous bite?  Or carries microbes that are harmful to Mankind...

But like Prometheus i think Alien Covenant will forgo such precautions... they are not going to approach this as a real life expedition would and so we have to assume the ships sensors and equipment detect the World as Safe as Earth and its Helmets off lets explore.

BEING SCIENTIFIC

If we assume the same principles apply to Paradise, then for it to have vegetation it has to have basic life...  which we know is true because well it had Engineers at one point...

But i am not sure Alien Covenant would spend time on showing us a variety of natural life forms...

Yes maybe the Lakes and Oceans could have Fish and Crustaceans or some other form of Life... maybe the Jungles and Trees would have many forms off life..

But i dont think we would see much in Alien Covenant... they could have it explained that advanced life like we would have say Mammals, and Reptiles and Birds... i think maybe they could explain that this world either never had them... or they was destroyed and extinct.

We really dont know how far they would go as far as how rich the life on Paradise is...  And if they would show us Black Goo infected Native Lifeforms... we just dont know.

But i doubt the movie would be exploring these in detail.

Answer the Question i would like to see evidence of a few life forms... even if its the equivalent of a Paradise Space Frog, and Stick Insect etc...

I would assume the place could have in the past had a rich supply of life... or at least the potential...  and scientifically there has to be a decent amount of life to Produce CO2 for the Plant Life to Grow and Live... but thats assume the Flora would be the same as on Earth or need similar requirements.
