 Chapter 26: The Last Act

The Golden-Land—a place that once thrived, now struggles to survive. The colossal titans of nature that were the sauropods, all fled. The ceratopsian population of Dhahabi’ard dwindled from four-thousand to fifty or less, not from overhunting, but because they chose to leave. Anatotitan, the once most populous life-giving herbivore, is now a rarity to find. The once sun glazed buttes, valleys, forests and plains are now chaotic—with the forests now a victim of overgrowth, making it unbearable to walk through—the valleys flooded, and the plains overfilled with vegetation. The great gorges and mountains of the land all seemed as if their splendor had settled, and their time in the sun was over. The once magnificent waterfall, named Corinae, flowed into an empty river. Only Purgatorius and small birds sipped the waters of the stream.

The massive mountain, Trinity Peaks, loomed over the Golden-Land like a forgotten entity, rather than a peaceful protector. All was empty, except one place, the mountain of Taghia-Sakhra. This mountain, once ruled by the greatest ruler, Tyranak, was a shadow of its former self. The sun glistened the land with a reddish-hue, as seven Tyrannosaurus laid upon the mountain’s perches. Three of these rex are familiar—the once siblings of Tyrance, of course known as Tyrana, Tyranno, and Tyrani were present. They were eighteen years of age, fully grown. Tyrana's final coloring was auburn, with light fur-like feathers around her back and neck. She was fifteen-feet tall, and forty-two feet long—perfect for a T.rex. Her build was lean but muscular, ideal for a female Tyrannosaurus as it enabled her to not only run fast, but kill with swiftness. Tyrana’s eyes were hazel. Tyranno was eleven-feet tall and thirty-eight feet long, short but enough for a T.rex. His final coloring was the rare blue, and he had no feathers. Tyranno is very thin, very, and this allowed him to run at an extremely fast speed for his species, thirty-four miles an hour.

His eyes were golden, another rarity amongst T.rex. Lastly Tyrani, the most loving of the siblings, was sixteen-feet tall and forty-five feet long. Her build was lean and defined, an elegant specimen. Tyrani’s coloring was a very deep-pink, almost red, and she did have some leftover yellow feathers along her back and top of her thigh. Her eyes were sapphire, and they complemented her elegant pink scales. The siblings have changed a lot since we first met them eighteen-years ago—but one in particular has changed. The one who claimed the title of Tyrant King, the un-challenged ruler of Dhahabi’ard, Tyrantic. Tyrantic stayed true to the title tyrant, much more than he did to the title king. His scales were a deep charcoal-black, and a small almost crownlike cropping of orange-feathers surrounded his neck. He was eighteen-feet tall and forty-six feet long, vastly above average for a T.rex. His eyes were a regal purple, and his muscular and defined build signified him as the king.

The “Tyrant King” lied upon the highest pinnacle of Taghia-Sakhra, resting upon the peak, analyzing his land. Tyrantic was delusional, he did not realize that he alone had driven away the Anatotitan, and over hunted the trikes. You see, over the last three years since Tyrance fled, Tyrantic has truly been a tyrant. In Tyrannosaurus customs, the alpha—or in this case King claims full control over the infantry, better known as the four surviving rex from the Giganotosaurus attack. Tyrantic ordered his pack, excluding his siblings who only listened to him when it came to hunting, to destroy nests of herbivores—unknowingly killing off the species that he thrived on. Tyrantic was delusional and an ego-maniac, which is hard to say for anything that is not human, but he most definitely was—believing that the herds were destroying the land. After the King’s army ate the eggs and destroyed countless nests, they then set out to make Dhahabi’ard more habitable for other predators.

Tyrantic’s instinct stung at him, and wanted the herds diminished for some sick reason. Predators including Acrocanthosaurus and Giganotosaurus, two very large and very dangerous predators returned to Dhahabi’ard, something not seen since Tyranak’s regime. Tyrantic allowed these predators to hunt to their heart's content, killing off hundreds of herbivores in months. When Tyrantic had his fill of destruction, he then ordered that the predators nests be destroyed, and the theropods killed along with them. I know this seems like an abnormal amount of sentience for a theropod, but it is exactly that. Tyrantic’s infantry of four fully adult male rex followed him like slaves, with their eyes wide and their mouths bared, as though their sole purpose was to kill. When the Giganotosaurus and Acrocanthosaurus were exterminated, Tyrantic was at last satisfied with his killing spree.

All of the destruction described is why the “Golden-Land” is now the Ruined-Land. The sun was not hot, sort of in-between, as Tyrantic feasted upon an Anatotitan killed solely for him, the setting sun overshadowing him in the background. The Tyrant chirped loudly into the air, summoning three T.rex into his chamber. He lifted his body, which he had somehow kept defined even though he ate everyday, and confronted his subordinates. Tyrantic chirped in their T.rex language for them to head south towards what we call Hell Creek. He had caught a scent thirty-miles away of something that displeased him, and bellowed again for his beasts to venture into the formation, find the source of the scent, and end it. This display of brutality was not uncommon in Tyrannosaurus, although it was rare in Tyranak’s bloodline.

Tyrantic didn’t quite know what the scent was—its aroma was familiar, strangely familiar. What disturbed him most was that it had the distinctive pheromones of an alpha Tyrannosaurus, something Tyrantic could not allow passage through his province. The three slaves of Tyrantic with haste stomped down the mountain's slopes, through a cavern of which three nest lied, and down some more slopes before finally reaching the bottom of Taghia-Sakhra. They set off with excitement at the chance to leave the now disgusting Dhahabi’ard. Blusterous bellows filled the air as the rex ran at a moderate speed trying to reach the scent. You cannot truly blame these fools for their ignorance, as they were merely following orders from the son of the revered alpha Tyranak—Tyrantic had to have known what he was doing! At-least in their minds.

Back in Hell Creek, the true Tyrant King is preparing his pack for a journey. After many group meetings, Tyrance and Tyria’s alpha instincts finally forced them to a bellow aloud that it was time to move. The marshland's waters were growing, flooding the once hunting grounds—and soon encompassing their nest. Tyron and Tyro snapped back, asserting that they were awaiting the alpha’s orders. Tyria roared in their rex language distinctive vibrations of which could be translated to Tyrance knowing more about the land than her. He would be the head alpha of this venture. Tyrance stomped his feet into the mud, showing that he was proud to lead the pack. His mouth opened, revealing his dagger-sized teeth, as with a dominant roar he assumed control once again of a pack. Tyrance had not been apart of one in so long, and the feeling of being alpha again filled his body with ecstasy, as with a resounding roar the pack set off through the marshlands.

The four rex proceeding through the swampy land, wet mud covering their feet, making them cringe. The air was chilly, yet humid, and the sun was barely piercing through humongous white-clouds above the land. Tyrance led them above a mangrove covered hill, through a Deinosuchus infested swamp of which they barely escaped. Tyria looked around, as condensation dripped down onto her snout. She noticed that to their right a small hill led into another location, and immediately bellowed to Tyrance. The alpha scouted the hill, and analyzed that it led to a tropical arroyo. It was strange for this biome to be next to a swamp, in all Tyrance’s eighteen-years of life he had never seen such a thing. Tyrance snorted and turned back to his pack, cooing that the location was safe. The pack proceeded through the gulley of water that is an arroyo, noticing that a chaparral coincided with the pathway.

Tyria bumped into Tyrance to get his attention. She made an almost undetectable chirping sound, translated this sound was her telling Tyrance that she had caught a scent of something that she did not like, three male T.rex. Tyrance cooed back that he had too, and roared back to the others to stay on highest alert. The pack walked in the arroyo’s stream, washing away the now sticky mud off their feet, and relishing in how the water felt on their theropod foot-pads. The deep guttural roaring sounds of a pack of Dakotaraptors could be heard in the distance, but this did not phase Tyrance or his pack, as Dakotaraptors were not a threat to fully grown T.rex—especially a pack of them. As the pack proceeded with their journey, a strange breathing sound filled their ears. Tyrance stopped their stride. He looked around, analyzing large bushes on a nearby hill. His amber eyes blinked and he bared his teeth, him and Tyria knew something was nearby.

Tyrance snorted for the pack to continue for now, but to stay on the highest of alerts. This would come sooner than thought, as from a nearby canopy three beige-Tyrannosaurus rex appeared. The ground thundered and dust kicked up into the sky as Tyrance ran to the front to guard the pack and bellowed at the invaders. Tyria stood by Tyrance, and so did Tyron and Tyro as the four of them bellowed with fear and shock at the three T.rex. One of the invading rex, you could call her the leader, walked to the forefront and almost diplomatically began to hiss and snap at Tyrance. Tyrance looked into the eyes of the large female rex, as she chirped various things that could be translated as, “This is the territory of the King” and, “leave if you want your life”. The true Tyrant King did not listen to these threats, and hissed at the three before ordering the pack to continue their journey.

The female rex looked at the moving pack with an almost blank stare. She gestured her head towards one of the two males, who walked to her side. The leader snapped for the two males to kill Tyron and Tyro whilst she returned to Tyrantic. The two male rex blinked their eyes three times and moved their arms back in forth, signifying that they agreed, before bolting after the omega and beta. Tyrance heard loud booming from behind them—he turned his muscular neck back to see Tyron and Tyro being viciously mauled by two large and muscular Tyrannosaurus. Tyria bellowed with fear for her partners, and immediately charged and tackled one of the rex, biting ferociously at its neck and clawing it with her toes. Tyrance propelled his massive body over to one the rex that was mauling Tyro. The beast looked up in shock to see the colossus that is Tyrance ram into him, sending him stumbling back. Tyria had no mercy, she clamped onto the neck of the rex as it roared in pain. The alpha-female’s eyes were filled with anger, as with no hesitation she smashed the beast’s skull into a rocky wall countless times.

Tyria stomped her theropod foot onto that of the opposer, before lifting it into the air by its neck, breaking it. Blood dripped down Tyria’s snout, as she looked at Tyrance, who was easily defeating the other rex. The Tyrant King clamped onto the top jaw of the rex and furiously shook it around as the rex roared in anguish. The opposing rex squealed in pain as Tyrance ducked his head down to the left, before like lightning swinging it upwards directly smashing the skull of Tyrantic’s minion. The rex’s jaw was broken entirely, it shook with every movement the tyrannosaur made. Tyrantic’s T.rex attempted to flee, bolting through the arroyo on his toes to achieve maximum speed—but it was not enough, as Tyro chased after it with fierce precision. The pack cheered on Tyro as he raced towards the escaping rex, a fire of determination in his eyes.

The slave of Tyrantic looked back and barked with fear as Tyro rammed into him, knocking him on his side. The rex couldn’t use its jaw, leaving kicking as the only option. The T.rex kicked Tyro in his ribs, sending him stumbling back in pain. The rex attempted to escape whilst Tyro staggered in pain, but underestimated the omega, as he clamped onto his tail halting the beast’s stride. The Tyrannosaurus trembled and shook, breaking Tyro’s balance—but it was too late as like a calculating berserker Tyrance appeared and clamped onto the neck of the T.rex, breaking it with ease. Tyrance dropped the body of the rex onto the dry ground, and shoved it with his skull into the water. Tyria walked next to Tyrance and nuzzled him, as he did back.

Tyron and Tyro licked each other’s wounds, as they were brothers they cared very much about their health. Various insects fluttered about, some like mosquitoes, some like dragonflies. Pteranodon’s and Quetzalcoatlus soared through the sky, covering the pack with a large shadow when they passed. Tyrance looked into the distant conifer-forest, as Tyria licked his wounds before joining him in such. The King snapped to Tyria in their rex snorts that he needed to go, something was calling him. Tyria did not like this, and trilled to Tyrance, asking for him to stay and be the alpha-male of her pack. These instinctual vibrations from his mate seemed to strike a cord with Tyrance, pulling him back from his previous decision of returning home.

Tyrance lifted his muscular body to his feet and cooed to the pack that it was time to continue their journey to a safer location. As they left the arroyo and entered a conifer-forest, something seemed to tug at Tyrance’s psyche, like an instinctual twinge of sorts. He ignored it for the most part, but it only got worse, as if fate was informing his smart tyrannosaurid brain that his siblings needed him. Back on Taghia-Sakhra, the female rex returned to Tyrantic with terrible news, there was a pack of four T.rex led by a dominant alpha. The sun gleamed purple-hues across the Ruined-Land and Taghia-Sakhra, as Tyrantic stood to his feet at the pinnacle of the colossal mountain. He ordered that the female follow him down the mountain, his worst nightmare had come to fruition. Tyrantic strayed back as the female hiked down—he never thought he would have to face him again.

Tyrantic walked to the very edge of the mountain, and bellowed a loud roar of anger and anguish. He breathed in deeply and exhaled forcefully, before following the female down the mountain. The time had come, Tyrance was the only chance at restoring the Golden-Land—but it seems unlikely he will return. The fate of Dhahabi’ard hangs in the balance, the end is nigh.

Chapter 25: The Lost Ruler

Tyria chirped for Tyrance to follow her towards her pack, to which he followed with glee. The sun was still covered by a blanket of clouds as the two reunited with the subordinates of Tyria. Tyria chirped in Tyrannosaurus language that Tyrance was safe, and not a threat towards their survival. One of the pack members roared into the air with approval of Tyrance, they needed a berserker for their pack, but Tyrance was much more than a beast of power. The other pack member, a thin male, was skeptical of adding Tyrance, he didn’t believe he had the skills. The male walked around Tyrance and sniffed his body, analyzing his muscularity and durability, much to Tyrance’s dismay. When the omega finished his investigation, he cooed loud into the air deducing that Tyrance would be accepted by him. The two pack members hissed their names, Tyron and Tyro, the thin one being Tyro.

Tyria lifted her massive neck up and opened her jaw, letting the rain fall into her mouth, giving her a free drink. The alpha-female then bellowed a roar of dominance to her pack, announcing that Tyrance, do to his helping of her and muscular statue, would take place as her alpha-male. And instinctual twinge emanated through his brain with pleasure, he had not been the alpha of a pack in so long. Tyrance chirped with authority at his new position, but his pleasure was met with a new order from Tyria, he would not give orders, not yet. Tyrance felt another instinctual pain, one to be defiant towards not attaining the Alpha position, but he kept it in, as he didn’t want to destroy his chances with Tyria, or his future with the pack. Tyria lowered her neck and dropped down the piece of flesh Tyrance had helped her collect from the alamosaurus; the flesh was large enough for the four rex to get a chunk each.

Tyron immediately lunged for the meat, his ribs looked as though they were about to breach his skin he was so emaciated, but his lunge was halted by Tyria—who wished for the new member to eat first. This was her paying Tyrance back for his help. Tyrance did not eat the flesh, as his innate alpha-instincts took over, almost forcing him to bellow for his pack to eat first. Tyria tilted her head in confusion as the rain drenched it in heavenly water, she had never seen a T.rex do such a thing, but to give the Tyrannosaur the benefit of the doubt she had never seen another alpha. Tyro and Tyron dug in first, tearing off each a large chunk o meat and carrying it over to a sheltered section of the marshlands, as this was custom with rex to eat alone—reuniting only when searching for food or shelter. Tyrance bucked his head up, showing for Tyria to eat before him. There was little flesh left, only a piece the size of a wardrobe, which was nothing for colossal titans like these.

The female tore off half of the remaining piece, and snorted for Tyrance to eat the other, to which he did. The two laid down upon the dirt and feasted upon the flesh, as leaves from their tree-covering fell on to their backs, and wet-mud covered their theropod feet and knees. Tyria opened her mouth and closed it, another common gesture in T.rex that she had hunger pangs, and this meal would not be enough for the pack. Tyrance’s giant matured snout turned, and his amber eyes met Tyria’s; the sole ritual among Tyrannosaurus is that the male hunts for the female before they become mates. This hunt shows the female the strengths of her mate, resilience, durability, strategy, and power. Tyrance flick his neck back and threw the dakotaraptor-sized piece of meat into his maw and devoured it instantly, before standing to his feet. Tyrance chirped and blinked three-times, telling Tyria he will return.

Tyrance rubbed the mud from the bottom of his feet on a rock and sharpened his teeth on the branch of a mangrove, preparing them for his test. The Tyrant bellowed a roar of dominance into the air, as Tyria looked onward in excitement for Tyrance. She wanted him to be her mate, and he wanted her to be his, and sole instinct filled Tyrance’s body as he ventured off through the marshlands in search of prey. The hot and sticky air did battle with the wet and murky land as Tyrance traveled through the swamps in search of prey, adrenaline and endorphins filling his body. He pressed through the marshlands, cringing with every step as shrubs and wet pliable mud encumbered him. The Tyrant King continued his stride, much to no avail as there was a stunning lack of prey in the marshlands. This news worried Tyrance, as his alpha-instincts urged him to inform the pack that they needed to move if they were to survive.

The rain beat-down even harder, as thunder cracked in the background, a sound that would terrify any animal, but not the alpha-predator, whom pressed forward as if the lightning was his audience clapping. Tyrance never stopped dwelling to the trauma that had happened to him, the loss of his family at the hands of Giganoctus. The mere mention of the name Giganoctus filled Tyrance with primal rage, enough to make him bellow madly. However even with all of this, he never even thought of the prospect of returning home; his home was his feet and thighs, as they propelled him to wherever he desired. Tyrance exited outside the marshlands, rain dripping down his colossal body, and was now within a chaparral, a biome filled with pteranodon-sized bushes and shrubs. A very dangerous location for a prowling rex, as the shrubs barely covered them and the twigs sliced their feet, bringing forth the fear of tripping in a chase. Tyrance truly hated chaparrals, as with every other step a sharp thorn stabbed the padding on his theropod feet, making him snarl with anger, but maintaining his cool.

The air was extremely hot, desert-like, which melted Tyrance’s energy away, but his determination persevered. Tyrance trekked through countless bushes, rising over hills, carefully walking downwards inside valleys, before coming across good news. The sounds of gigantic thundering, but not from the sky filled the ears of Tyrance. This booming came from only one creature, alamosaurus, the last of the North American sauropods. Tyrance lied down on the hot rocky ground as he contemplated a strategy—fighting an alamosaurus alone is suicide, but taking out a young-one is most doable. Tyrance settled on his plan, he would use the hill and thorn-bushes as covering, before bolting out and killing a juvenile alamosaurus, and with this knowledge followed the scent of prey at a moderate jog towards the herd.

After three-hours of a moderate run he came upon the herd, and much to his pleasure, anatotitan were grazing with alamosaurus. This meant a change of plans, a much easier one. Tyrance snarled and hissed under his breath, before crouching down deep inside the thorn-bushes. As painful as they were they concealed him perfectly. His eyes frantically looked around, emanating off the glow of a prime-hunter, and this was him at his finest. Tyrance was not going to fail this hunt. There were eight adult alamosaurus, and three anatotitan. Obviously the anatotitan were stragglers from the main herd that roamed Dhahabi’ard, and had luckily found their way to protection in the form of sauropods, but they wouldn’t be saving them. Tyrance lowered his body even further, his two-fingered arms were now touching the dirt, as he slowly crouch-walked with maximum stealth.

One of the anatotitan blissfully came to an area of the chaparral with large bushes filled with delicious twigs for him to pluck. The adult anatotitan ate with a voracious appetite, as the sun began to set, casting over reddish-hue throughout the landscape. The anatotitan grazed and grazed, but something seemed off about the bushes; the anatotitan began to sniff around the area, and immediately caught the sent of a T.rex! The duck-billed dinosaur trumpeted madly that there was a predator in the area, as Tyrance bolted from his covering, bellowing with anger at his cover being blown. The anatotitan screeched in pain as it propelled itself the opposite direction of Tyrance, hoping to escape his wrath, but actually singling it out within him.

The alamosaurus roared in shock, as the other two-anatotitan bellowed in fear and fled underneath the sauropods for protection. The Tyrant King chased the anatotitan at his maximum speed through the thorny bushes as the hot air tore away at his stamina and weakened his joints. Tyrance pursued the anatotitan with fierce prowess, pushing through the pain from his joints and wounds that the thorn-bushes caused. Each step sounded as if a giant-boulder was dropped from two-stories up, as Tyrance only got faster, adrenaline filling his body. His three-toed theropod feet were massive, and ended in thick-sharp claws that with each step cemented his footing, allowing increased versatility in the chase, greater than the anatotitan. The anatotitan knew that T.rex tire quickly, and him running on all fours made him much faster than the bipedal predator, it was only a matter of time. Tyrance knew he couldn’t maintain this chase for much longer—he bellowed at the anatotitan, paralyzing it with fear for half a second as he analyzed quickly a route to flank the beast.

Tyrance looked to his right, as lightning struck shaking the ground, and noticed a hill that sloped down directly in front of the path the duck-bill was headed. Tyrance immediately sped up and curved right to meet the hill, his ribs exposed and torso expanding with each breath. Tyrance’s massive leg muscles rippled and twitched in the setting sun as he climbed up the steep-hill, momentarily putting him far behind the anatotitan as he struggled, but it would be worth it. The Tyrant King bellowed from the top of the hill, now looking below at the duck-bill as it began to slow-down, believing it to have escaped the rex. The anatotitan made way for a river, knowing that Tyrannosaurus have trouble swimming, it would be an ideal place for a true escape. Tyrance knew he had to move quickly, and with what was left of his stamina made the final charge towards the slope.

The T.rex pulled back at the last second as he slid down the hill, his legs back-pedaling with instinctual fright of falling over. Tyrance’s slide turned into a stride as he rose his tail up higher and lowered his torso and neck down lower, attaining greater balance allowing a run. The anatotitan was doomed, as Tyrance appeared directly ahead of him and bellowed sending the beast into shock, before clamping onto his neck breaking it, and tearing his throat out. Tyrance smirked an almost faint-smile as his prey bled out, before bellowing a dominant roar into the air, one that Tyria heard, asserting to her that he had succeeded. Tyrance bent his ankles and hinged his thighs next to his ribs, this was a Tyrannosaur lying position. He panted with fierce prowess, having exhausted his body past the limit, although his endorphins kept him awake. The sun had set and night consumed the land, cooling off the air into an almost chilly temperature.

Tyrannosaurus rex have amazing night-vision. Although not as good as modern day mammalian predators, they were phenomenal. Male T.rex, when bringing food to their mates have a sort of instinctual knowledge to bring it slightly rotten, as this not only shows a level of care but intelligence for the female. Blood dripped from Tyrance’s snout and teeth as his mouth was open, panting like a dog. The T.rex looked down before opening his jaws and clamping onto the thorax of the duck-bill, and dragging it down-hill towards a nearby river. When the Tyrant made it to the river he washed off the clay and soot from the bottom of his feet in the water by scraping his feet backwards against the ground; Tyrance lowered his massive neck down and dropped the anatotitan carcass into the river, letting it peer just a little bit above the water for maximum rotting efficiency.

He exited the stream and laid down by the creek-bed, trying his hardest to stay awake, but failing. Tyrance’s eyes closed and his head collapsed to the ground with exhaustion. He needed a long sleep, but he couldn’t afford it as over-rotting of the corpse could ruin the meal. Tyrance entered a deep sleep, a place where he usually is taken into dreams of strange events he has not been apart of. Tyrance woke his tired eyes, and he was strangely in a eery forest with quicksand in various holes. He looked around in shock for his anatotitan carcass, but it was nowhere to be found. He looked behind himself, and there was grass, but it was abruptly set on fire by a bolt of lightning. Tyrance looked even further into the distance and saw two packs of T.rex fighting atop a mountain, a sight you rarely see. The Tyrant King blinked with confusion, before he was forcefully yanked and tossed into a tree. Tyrance stood up and looked back to see a strange, hazy vision of a charcoal-black T.rex ferociously attacking him.

Tyrance stood to his feet and bellowed with alpha-dominance at the beast, but it did not halt its demonic charge. Tyrance stood his ground, and opened his mouth baring his teeth. However, the Tyrant King was suddenly yanked out of this dream and placed back into reality. He looked around frantically and with fear, he had never had such a complex dream before. Night still consumed the land as Tyrance rose to his feet and shook his head, wiping away the feeling of dread and grogginess in the river's light-blue water. The T.rex checked the carcass, and to his luck it had rotted perfectly, being ideally tender and a deeper-red in color. Tyrance opened his jaw to its maximum stretch, ninety-degrees, and grasped the meat in his maw. The Tyrant was tired of sleeping, and with the carcass in his jaws set off back to the marshlands.

Tyrance hiked through the chaparral, and returned back to the wet and muddy marshlands. He followed his scent, as the sun began to rise, a sight few terrestrial predators see. Tyrance stopped his hike and walked through a large buildup of mangroves to view the colossal sun, which glistened golden, awakening the land. His pupils shrunk with the massive intake of light, forcing him to turn away and continue his journey, although he was as awe-struck as a T.rex could be. The Tyrant King finally came upon the nest of his new pack, which was within a wall of mangroves. Tyron and Tyro were both asleep, as they were brothers they slept in the same nest. Tyrance looked at them with a curious look in his eye, before walking through the nest, and up a hill entering the home of Tyria, who was already awake admiring the sunrise. Tyrance dropped the carcass by her grounded tail, and chirped, startling her as she bellowed back in shock.

Tyria turned around to face Tyrance, before looking at the gift he had brought, a perfectly rotted anatotitan. Tyria cooed to Tyrance, and nuzzled him, as he did the same back. Being the alpha however Tyria lifted the carcass in her maw and carried it over to her pack, as it was imperative that they all eat not just her. Tyrance and Tyria hiked down the hill, and both of them bellowed loudly awakening the brothers from their sleep, similar to a rooster would do in the modern-day. Tyron and Tyro chirped with respect for Tyrance who killed the beast, and respect for Tyria for sharing, before digging in. The murky waters kicked up and splashed the rex as they feasted, tearing out kidneys and ribs. Tyrance was beyond hungry, and chirped for the two subordinates to step back, before he tore out the entire thorax of the beast and carried it up the hill for him and Tyria to enjoy.

Tyrance and Tyria lied down amidst the rising sun and feasted upon the anatotitan flesh. Tyrance looked at her and nuzzled his snout against hers, before informing her that the pack needed to move, as there was no animals in the marshlands. He chirped in their Tyrannosaurus language that the herd was moving back to the east, towards Dhahabi’ard, although he did not want to go there, much to Tyria’s questioning. Tyria agreed with Tyrance, and they bellowed to Tyron and Tyro that they would be leaving soon.

Chapter 24: Tyria

The T.rex pursued the chirps he had heard in the distance. He pressured through the conifer forest, crossing around small rivers, using fallen conifers as bridges and crossings. He came upon a large flowing river. The Tyrannosaurus instantly knew he couldn’t swim across it, as the currents were to strong, they would send him smashing into rocks and sharp objects. A large waterfall roared through a massive mountain, that fell down to create this rushing river. They intersected with another mountain, that our T.rex knew held a passing that would lead him towards the sound he was searching for. The rex lifted his massive skull up, and noticed a sloping hill which led towards a conifer that was on the verge of collapsing. Tyrannosaurus rex are capable of very intelligent thought, primarily for survival, this allowed our T.rex to realize he could use this tree as a bridge.

The Tyrant trekked up the sloped hill, and through a thicket of shrubs and vines. The sun gleamed down an orange-glaze across the land, as the air was cool, and the sun was setting. Various insects swarmed around this T.rex as he made his way towards the tree, but his colossal size made him oblivious to the waves of pain that a smaller animal would feel. He made his way towards the leaning tree, and knew immediately what to do. The T.rex growled a deep, spine-chilling one before ramming his titanic body into the tree and knocking it over with half of his strength. The tree immediately began to collapse, and much to the Tyrant’s delight, created a bridge towards the mountain-passing. He placed his theropod foot gently onto the hardwood, the tree had been rotting, therefore its bark was weakened and had the potential to break underneath a T.rex’s weight.

When he was sure the pressure from his foot wasn’t enough to collapse the tree-bridge, he placed his other foot, and as the smell of rotted wood filled his nostrils he made his way towards the passing. With each the step the Tyrant made sure to listen for cracks or screeches from the tree trunk, if he were to fall into the river he would most certainly die. He continued to do this until he finally made it across; the rex breathed in and out deeply, relishing that he had survived the events that had just transpired. He continued across the passing, his leg muscles quivering with each step, as he had been walking for awhile, but he pressured on. Continuing through the mountain passing, he stopped at a nest, made by a Quetzalcoatlus. His hazel-eyes looked at the nest, before viewing the land directly below it. This view, although beautiful towards a T.rex—also made him realize he was extremely high-off the ground, and his survival instincts told him to continue down the mountain passing as quickly as possible.

He hiked down the mountain, and through a large stream that flowed down towards another coniferous forest. The Tyrant had enough of forests, and pursued another mountain passing hoping for a different land. As he trekked around this mountain, he dozed off, as the sun had set and he was walking in the moonlit night. The moon barely lit the world as he was about to fall asleep across the passing, but sadly this wasn’t going to happen, as the sounds of death filled his ears. His eyes awoke, and he rose his massive neck up to view a terror beneath him. A strange creature, you couldn’t identify its species was mercilessly killing a triceratops. The Tyrannosaurus watched with his mouth closed but eyes squinted in shock to see this creature, roughly fifteen-feet tall, tear out the jugular vein with his long arms ending in four-fingers.

You could tell it wasn’t full grown, as its musculature was undeveloped. Blood dripped down the creatures claws and jaws as it bellowed an ear piercing screech, that made even the T.rex stand to his feet and continue his trek away from the location—little did he know the creature had caught his scent. This, demon I cannot explain suddenly bellowed before chasing after our Tyrannosaur. The T.rex stomped across the passing, his massive leg muscles rippling, but not even his strength would be enough to prepare him for what was about to happen. A large crackling sound emanated across the land as the beast quickly scaled the mountain passing. The T.rex looked back in shock to see the creature that had just killed the triceratops directly behind him, it had climbed up the mountain simply to reach him.

Our T.rex bellowed at the beast, asserting his alpha-predator status, but this monster didn’t care about that. It screeched back a defiant bellow, that strangely scared our T.rex. It was strange, walking upright with its tail dragging-across the ground, but when running it ran like a rex. It had pale-white back and arms, with a gold-underbelly, and large crests that ended in a snout similar to interpretations of a dragon. The demon’s eyes, they were blood red with black pupils, no character was shown by them, only death. The creature bellowed and screeched with unknown rage, as our T.rex stood his ground looking at it with confusion. It finally charged the T.rex, but its inexperience with battle would be its downfall, as our Tyrannosaur dodged its attempt to claw his neck, clamped onto the demon’s neck, and threw it off a short end of the cliff. The sun was beginning to rise, giving just enough light for the rex to see the creature on the ground, unconscious.

He believed the beast to be dead, little did he know. The Tyrant, shaken, continued his journey. He had almost forgotten what he was searching for, but his incredible sense of smell reminded him as the scent of a female rex became closer and closer with every step. The rex continued his journey until he finally believed he had made it towards the scent. He was inside a lush forest, of which moss grew from the sides of trees, and mushrooms protruding from the muddy floors. He peered through a vine covering, to see a vast swampy land, with multiple small islands separated by bodies of water and dense mangroves. He hadn’t been to a swamp in a long time, and this one was a sight to behold.

The T.rex knew to be careful, as Deinosuchus prowled the waters, he knew this from his childhood. He trekked through the swamp, until coming before a vast marshlands. The T.rex began to give up on chasing after the scent, as it was gone, but as if fate was calling out to him a large roar was heard from the distance. The Tyrannosaur immediately began to run, hungry and tired, he had come to far to stop now. He smashed through mangroves and over hills until his journey was complete, or so he thought. Below a muddy hill, three Tyrannosaurus rex were covering themselves in the long grass and deep waters of the marshlands. Our T.rex breathed in the viscous air, as he pondered what they were hunting. He looked around, and the only thing he saw was a fully-grown lone alamosaurus, but Tyrannosaurus rarely attack them. The Tyrant was the alpha-predator, and feared nothing as he trotted down a swampy hill and entered the marshlands.

He made sure not to reveal himself, as he was going down merely to get a better look at the three rex. The beta was a male T.rex, approximately fourteen-feet tall, and forty-one feet long. The omega was colored green, thirteen-feet tall, forty-five feet long and quite sleek, you could tell the pack used him as the bait for their prey. Our T.rex finally analyzed the alpha. It was a female, colored a glistening amber. She was seventeen-feet tall, and forty-eight feet long. Her skull was of average width for a female T.rex, albeit a bit thinner, and her snout was narrow. Our T.rex had finally traced the scent he was looking for, it was a female rex, an alpha-female. The Tyrant rose from his marshland covering, but as soon as he stood up he laid back down, as the pack of three began their hunt against the alamosaurus. Our T.rex watched as they burst through the marshland covering, bellowing loud and powerful, similar to modern day lions. The beta and omega homed on one target, and you could instantly realize they weren’t trying to kill the entire beast, but rip off large amounts of flesh. The beta and omega clamped onto the belly of the alamosaurus, as it screamed in pain.

They tore off small bits of flesh, but they were not able to get a true-grip to tear off a real meal. The alpha-female charged through her two subordinates and instantly clamped onto the body of the alamosaurus, as it charged through the swamp. Our T.rex watched as the female chased after the alamosaurus, clamped on with all her might, but only blood fell down, not flesh. He knew what he had to do, and with power jolted from his scouting place and ran after the female. The beta and omega were injured, and resting to regain some strength. They looked back in fear to see a gigantic, muscular reddish-brown Tyrannosaurus chase after the alamosaurus. They didn’t even try to stop it, they would have been no match. Our T.rex rammed through a mangrove, as he easily caught up to the alamosaurus. He analyzed that the female was beginning to lose her grip, but the flesh she was hoping to tear-off from the sauropod was almost in her grasp. Our Tyrannosaurus ran to the left of the beast, as it bolted for its life.

The female, just about to let go looked in complete shock to see a random Tyrannosaurus clamp onto the same piece of flesh and tear it off instantly. The two went tumbling into a wall made of pure-mud. The alamosaurus continued to run away, seemingly un-phased. The alpha-female lifted her body up from the mud, panting all through out. Just as she did, she looked up to see the T.rex who had helped her. She bellowed, worried he would try and steal the meat she had worked so hard for, but instead he lowered his neck and dropped the large piece of flesh into the murky water. The female looked at our T.rex with a look of gleeful-shock. The two faced each other, and began to analyze physical features. The alpha-female was as described a very deep-red color, with purple-irises and green-pupils. Her build was very sleek, although she had a lot of lean-muscle. Compared to our T.rex, she was very thin and lean, even though she was massive for a T.rex. She analyzed the physical features of the Tyrant who had helped her, and little time did it take for her to identify him as an ideal mate, just as he did her.

The alpha-female chirped to the alpha-male her name in Tyrannosaur language, Tyria. She cooed for him to tell her his, but he didn’t at first. The sun was covered by a dense blanket of clouds, leaving a pale-gray glow across the land as rain plummeted from the heavens and bounced off the scales of the T.rex. She chirped for his name once more. He blinked a few times as rain cooled off their bodies from the heat of the day, before he finally cooed, finally revealing his name, Tyrance.

Chapter 23: Heatwave

The sun breached through the clouds and was finally shining its golden rays upon the land, awakening those who were not. The Tyrannosaurus rex we have been following awoke from his slumber. The Tyrant rose to his feet atop the gigantic waterfall he was on, which led towards the herd of herbivores, which were nested and oblivious to any terrors to unfold before them. Luckily for them, the T.rex wasn’t hungry, he had already killed his prey and did not desire anymore flesh.

The temperature was unusually hot, around one-hundred degrees, which seared the rex’s hide as he made his way down a sloping hill, prickling his feet and body on sharp rocks and twigs. Prowling through the forest, the Tyrannosaurus pressed around a few shrubs and rocks, being relatively quiet in his movements. The Tyrant finally noticed something he did not like, a nesting grounds. He snorted in disgust that his suspicions were confirmed, there was another rex in the area. The T.rex ignored this nest, but kept himself on the highest of alerts, as if he were to be noticed a rival bout for dominance would be most assured.

The T.rex continued through the forest until he came upon a tree the size of a redwood, toppled. He scaled the gigantic trunk, being extremely careful as with every step the trunk reverberated, echoing as if it were to collapse. The T.rex made it across, and continued his trek through the vast forest. Mating season was in for T.rex, and this one was no exception to the call. Even though the Tyrannosaur is eighteen years-old, it still hasn’t found a female of which to populate its bloodline. The rex stopped in his tracks and began chirping a deep, loud and gruntled sound to alert any potential mates, but he heard nothing back.

The rex, resisting instinctual urges, deduced he didn’t really care about a mate, and was contempt with the nomadic life he had set for himself. He continued through the forest, entering a large Taiga, with colossal conifers the size of redwoods and dense vegetation across the ground. The Tyrant broke through a few walls of vegetation, destroying anything that got in his way, be it small trees, rocks, or even medium-sized animals. The Tyrant noticed that the Taiga was going on for miles, and decided to turn right, trading the foreboding forest for a much more beautiful and populated plains, even though it looked more-like a Desert.

The rex pressed through the grassy plain, and broke through a dense-tree buildup. As he pursued a suitable destination to hunt, the rex caught a scent. He sniffed around, until finally locating the scent through a brush. The T.rex carefully peered through the thicket to see another Tyrannosaurus, feasting upon carrion. The Tyrant snorted, before walking through the thicket, revealing himself to the T.rex. The opposing T.rex looked up from its carcass, blood dripping from its snout, and bellowed at our Tyrant to leave, but he didn’t.

The opposing T.rex bellowed loudly in tyrannosaur chirps its name to the Tyrant we have been following, Tynax. The Tyrant didn’t chirp back his name, refusing to reply to the opposition. Tynax bellowed and smashed away from the carrion, and immediately began a bout for power with the T.rex. The Tyrant bellowed at Tynax as he charged and rammed into him. The T.rex collapsed to the ground with Tynax on-top of him, but that changed quickly as he kicked Tynax off and immediately began clamping and biting his flesh.

The T.rex clamped onto the snout of Tynax, before ramming him with his skull and shoving him with his snout. Tynax stumbled back, dazed and confused, but it wasn’t over as the Tyrant King charged like lightning and clamped onto the neck of Tynax. The two shook and clambered, before our T.rex clamped down harder, and broke the neck of Tynax underneath 22,000 pounds of pressure. The T.rex threw down the lifeless body of Tynax to the ground, and shoved him over, claiming the alpha-predator position of Hell Creek. However, the T.rex didn't seem to really care, as he hiked into the steppe.

The tyrannosaur made it the vast and hill-ridden plain, and quickly began to scout for a place to rest. He noticed a wide covering underneath a rock formation, which rose up to a guarded rocky-plateau. The T.rex pressed through the beautiful landscape, smelling the various scents with his incredibly powerful nose, taking in the scent of the recently blossomed flowers and herds that had walked by weeks prior. He marched through the covering, stomped up the sloped pathway, and finally reached the flat plateau which was high enough that you could look over most of Hell Creek.

He noticed that the temperature had gotten remarkably hot, almost hot enough for you to be force to bathe in water just to be at a normal body-heat. He didn’t think much of it, as he was a colossal creature and his body adjusted quickly; he eased his muscular thighs down to his ankles, and rested his six-foot long skull onto the flat-plateau. The Tyrannosaur fell asleep almost instantly, as his belly was full, his thirst was quenched, and his dominance was assured. He had nothing to worry about, or at-least he thought he didn’t as the temperature increased at a rapid rate with each minute. He dreamed of peace, a golden-land, watched over by two beasts he couldn’t identify. He saw visions of what he could make out was himself, bellowing at the top of a hill. However this peace was soon shutdown, as he began to feel like his skin was melting. The T.rex immediately awoke from his sleep, in furious burning pain. The air was like a furnace, and was melting him from within. The Tyrannosaurus struggled to his feet in pain, and while groggy unknowingly ran off the side of the plateau, tumbling down ten-feet off the ground to sun-baked rocks which were even harder. He bellowed in pain and immediately began to run, not at his max-speed as he couldn’t, but close to it.

The air was so hot you could barely breath, as each inhale felt like inhaling flames. The T.rex knew exactly where to go, and with prowess smashed through the steppe, back through the taiga, and through the conifer forest to reach the waterfall he had slept on the previous day. He could barely function his body, as his joints began to shutdown and his muscles began to lag behind his brain. He walked downhill to reach the stream the waterfall fell into, and instantly began to bathe himself in the waters, which were still moderately warm. The T.rex chirped in relief at the waterfall. He peered his snout through the it, concealing himself in its gigantic wall of water, and caught the scent of four trikes and two anatotitans. He had no desire to eat, and they had no desire to drive him away as all seven of them dunked their bodies underneath the river, and showered in the waterfall.

After thirty-minutes of this the heatwave had only gotten stronger, and the T.rex noticed that one of the triceratops collapsed. Over-heated, it was dead. The Tyrannosaurus breathed a deep guttural sigh of relief at the knowledge that he had a meal, and lied down with his thighs held tight against his torso, and head resting just above the water on a cooled off rock, as to not drown. He rested, needing to reawaken his body after the shock it just endured. This routine of staying in the water, checking if the heat vanished, and then returning to the water continued for another two days. The Tyrannosaur feasted upon the carcass, but knew not to wolf all of it down, as he needed to make the most out of it with him not being able to hunt.

After three-days the rex finally left the cave the waterfall concealed, and walked outside to good news, the heatwave had mostly dissipated. He pursued another plain he saw in the distance, and walked towards it, leaving gigantic footprints with every step. When he reached the plain he saw the corpses of twenty-anatotitans, consumed by nature. His face didn’t seem to have a reaction, and he looked solely with a blank stare as he snarled and made a right back into the conifer forest. As he hiked through it, breathing slowly, but still loud enough to terrify any animal, he heard a sound in the distance. He stopped his stride, and listened. What he heard was the sound of his own kind. He blew it off as another opposer, but the sound continued, as if it was someone trying to leave a beacon.

The Tyrannosaurus listened to it one more time, and this time caught the distinctive only detectable to a Tyrannosaurus sounds of a female. His pupils widened and his heart began to beat. He began to coo loudly, but he didn’t hear anything back. The Tyrannosaurus rex immediately made a pathway through the forest, headed directly for this sound. He had to find out who it was, he was the Tyrant King after all.

Tyrants Chapter 22: A New Land

About two-thousand miles south from the Golden-Land lie another vast ecosystem. Colossal conifers watched the land like guardians, and mangroves littered the swamps that fell beneath the thick forests. There were many animals, anatotitan, alamosaurus, and dakotaraptor being the primary beasts. The pterosaurs of this land were pteranodons, tapejara, and quetzalcoatlus. They loomed over the beautiful blue sky like a flock, even though they were not.

There were no visible predators, with the only ones you could notice being the packs of dakota and micro-raptors. It all was peaceful, as a warm summer-breeze flowed through the beasts of nature, against the backdrop of a colossal mountain. No large predators, making this one of the most peaceful locations to be in. Triceratops grazed the grass amongst the plains, tearing the plant fibers straight off the stems and twigs. They indulged in the fruitfulness of this peaceful land they had found, chirping with voices that sounded like a very deep parrot-squeak. It was mid-day and the sun was beating down hard, making the temperature somewhere between eighty-eight and ninety-five degrees.

Triceratops continued to graze as they were joined by a new dinosaur, unseen in North America for a long time, Parasaurolophus. Parasaurolophus, anatotitan, and triceratops all enjoyed the abundance of grass and edible flowers. A sub-adult triceratops, about six-feet tall and thirty-feet long grazed heavily. She was in puberty, and was growing at a remarkably fast rate, eating up to fifteen-thousand calories a day worth of vegetation. The herd began to leave the surrounding area, and moved through a forest, progressing to a new plains, but the lone female trike was indulging in the vegetation, and didn’t notice the vanished herd.

This, new land is as far as I know, is called Hell Creek. The trike grazed and grazed until her belly was full; she noticed the herds had left, and immediately began trotting through the plains. She trekked through the forest, which scraped her feet with its sharp twigs and conical rocks. As she progressed however, her incredible hearing picked up on a sound of breathing, stealth breathing. She immediately began to move quickly through the forest, destroying anything that got in her way, but she was being followed.

The trike kept moving before she stopped, something was directly behind her. She looked back and saw nothing though. Just as the triceratops began to continue her journey, she was halted by a unmatched roar, she knew instantly what it was. The triceratops stumbled back as a colossal, eighteen-foot tall beast stood over her, snarling and hissing, attempting to get the beast to run. The monster was exactly fifty-two feet long, and its muscles were extremely large and well defined, but its ribs were showing as if it hadn’t eaten in a week. The triceratops stood her ground, knowing she couldn’t outrun this hunter, it was her only shot. She bellowed and charged the predator, but it was to no avail as it too snarled before side stepping the charge, clamping onto the horn of the trike, and tossing it to the ground before snapping its neck.

The savage beast tore into the carcass of its prey, ripping out colossal pieces of flesh and ingesting them whole. It lied down, and used its massive jaws to rip off the thigh of the trike, and tore that to pieces, blood dripping down its maw. The sun finally shined over the densely wooded forest, revealing the predator to be a Tyrannosaurus rex. The Tyrant continued to indulge in its meal before five dakotaraptors appeared from the brush. The tyrannosaur bellowed loudly, which sent the thieves running back to their hideout.

The Tyrannosaurus finally finished its meal, and hiked through the forest back to a sun-glazed hill, overlooking a creek, which the herd of duck-bills and ceratopsians drank from. Blood still dripped from this predator's jaws as it lied down for a rest, falling asleep underneath the heat of the sun, which was lessened by a cool breeze. Five hours have passed, and the sun was beginning to set, dropping the temperature to fifty degrees. The T.rex awoke to see the pack had left, and there was little time left in the day. As the Tyrant marched through the forest, each step sounding like a car crash at sixty-miles per-hour, he noticed that the trike carcass was eaten in its entirety, even the bones that he had not eaten were stripped from the carcass.

The rex, with his very high-intelligence and sense of smell easily identified it was the dakotaraptors, who wrecked his carcass whilst he was in a rejuvenating slumber. The Tyrannosaur made his way through the forest, before finally coming across a rocky hill, one mile wide and long. The rex carefully scaled the hill in this plain, placing his feet on and off as to not destroy it with his massive weight, nine-tons. He scaled up the hill and resumed his rest on its flat landscape, free of rocks or sharp pebbles.

As with most predatory animals, they dream of past events in their life, but mostly of hunting animals, and ways they can improved their hunting prowess, but this theropod wasn’t thinking of that. The rex dreamed of walking through a forest at night, which had a pathway going directly straight. Directly to the right and left of the forest was fire and ash, hell. However, before the T.rex could analyze the place it was marooned in, a demonic pale white beast charged it, ramming it to the ground.

The T.rex bellowed with his instincts in full effect, as it clamped and bellowed for his life against this beast. The rex kicked the demon off of him, and rose to his feet bellowing at it. The rex’s eyes were hazy, and he couldn’t identify what species it was, or if it even was a species, but he didn’t have time to even think of that as the monster charged into him full force. The rex bellowed prepared for the chaos, but his dream was left there as the hill the predator had placed itself on began to collapse under the weight of the theropod. The T.rex bellowed in fear as it fell and was stabbed by multiple rocks all the way down.

The Tyrant stood to its feet, groggy and in pain, and immediately made its way outside of the rocky plains back into the forest, never looking back. Hell Creek is a terrifying place, seemingly peaceful, until a Tyrannosaurus charges from the vegetation. Hell Creek has the largest population of T.rex in all of North America. There is no king, there is survival of the fittest, and rival bouts are common. Dakotaraptors also terrorize the formation, making up what the Tyrannosaurs haven’t. It isn’t just the ground predators that are to fear, how about the giraffe-sized quetzalcoatlus, which can swoop up animals five-feet and taller in its massive beak.

Hell Creek is a beautiful place though, with vast swamps, massive conifer forests going for miles, rocky mountains covered in snow and ash, various volcanos, and large clay canyons. This particular Tyrannosaurus rex we are following has not laid claim to any home, rather he is a loner, going against a pack element, choosing to survive solely on his skills. The tyrannosaur pressed through the forest, and down across a clay barren canyon where the herd of trikes and titans had refreshed themselves in the canyon’s creek. The rex looked at the creek and snorted, not understanding the pacifistic lives of the herbivores, viewing them solely as prey.

The Tyrant hiked up the rocky canyon, his toes dripping blood at every step from the sharp rocks, but this rex had grown unaffected by this pain, and stomped across like he was walking along a beach. He finally came across the home he was looking for, a large forest which connected to an extremely vast plains ecosystem, ideal for a Tyrannosaurus rex. The herd was resting there, as it was the morning hours of the day, most likely five in the morning. Hiking down the the canyon, the large theropod came upon something he didn’t like, footprints of his own kind.

The rex’s eyes squinted softly as he snorted in anger and preparation for the inevitable rival battle for territory, to which he was well prepared. This Tyrannosaurus, being eighteen-feet tall and fifty-two feet long was one of the largest, if not the largest of all T.rex and predators in North America. He had a scar running down the right side of his stomach towards his thigh, and he had tooth marks on his ankle. The marks were unmistakable as from that of another Tyrannosaurus, this rex has fought one of his own before, and obviously won.

The sun was beginning to arise, leaving a groggy orange glaze on the landscape. The Tyrant entered the forest and pressed forward up to a large cliff that was connected to a waterfall. The Tyrannosaur sipped from the fountain, taking large gulps as he was dehydrated. The rex then lied down at the peak of the waterfall, bathing himself in its stream as he analyzed the beautiful land beneath, and most importantly, the herd.
