FIGHT!

The male yangchuanosaurus, Yang, wandered through the trees, looking for a meal. He caught the scent of a diplodocus in another predator's territory, a small pack of compies harassing an even smaller flock of juvenile ichthyornis… and two medium-size predators nearby. Their scent seemed fresh and wasn't going anywhere, probably meaning they were still in his territory. Yang felt like he was being stalked. He growled slightly nervously and followed the scent to a clump of big bushes. He sniffed. Then two crested creatures launched themselves out of the greenery and latched onto his face.

The dilophosaurus bristled, sensing that something was near, something big. A large toothy snout poked in. Thinking that they were going to be eaten upon discovery, the two dilos jumped onto the beast, slashing and biting it frantically. The monstrosity was stunned for a moment and the two double-crested lizards fled. The hulking outline of a massive dinosaur followed them through the dense foliage. They weaved and dodged, trying to shake off the monster, but it was easily keeping pace. In fact, it was slowly gaining. This had to be the fastest giant ever. How long could it keep up? Probably not much longer, but it wouldn't have to if he was caught. Suddenly the male got a bad feeling and swung to the left. It was a good thing he did. Powerful jaws smashed down on where he was a second ago. It was on him! His mate had probably deserted him. Stupid females. Always fleeing when there was danger (although he was kind of doing the same thing). The ferns and twigs weren't helping either. He was smaller than his pursuer and the thick underbrush affected smaller dinosaurs more than big ones. He had to struggle against it while his attacker easily plowed through. And then it happened. He had been lucky it had been put off for so long, but it had to happen. The dilophosaurus crashed into a tree. He waited for the final blow, but it never came. He turned to see his mate fearlessly attacking the larger dinosaur. With a shriek, he rushed in to help.

Yang was furious now. With a roar, he surged forward. He met one with a bite to the tail, and when the other one attacked his head from the side, he slammed both their heads together. They were persistent though and came right back. This time they climbed up his side and raked his back. With an enraged bellow, Yang shook them off and picked one up. He dug razor sharp claws into the craven offender's neck, then tossed it some twenty feet away. With a whimper it ran away, followed by the other double-crested lizard. Grunting in satisfaction, Yang returned to his own territory. What he didn't know, or hadn't realised, was that the territory they had fought in was not his own. Only when he lay down to rest did he notice the female yangchuanosaurus, Yin. But instead of attacking him for trespassing on her territory and fighting a battle there, Yin nuzzled up to Yang, who turned to mush at first glance. It was mating season after all, and he felt more complete with than without her.

AND THE WINNER IS………………………………. YANGCHUANOSAURUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The dilos were just trying to get away, so they fled before they were seriously hurt. Otherwise the battle could have gone either way.

Awesome battle, I love the fights you make! I'm new here, but I can tell you I love dinosaur battles, that's for sure!!! Anyway, some of the things you said were pretty funny, or sweet. Like, "Stupid Females. Always fleeing when there was danger, but he was kind of doing he same thing" and "It wa. Mating season after all, and he felt more complete with than without her." Keep up the awesome battles!!!

ANKYBEATSALL2468 - Hahaha! That was an incredibly dynamic combat! I very much enjoyed the humanizing aspects you placed within the animals - especially the very "romantic" feel you instilled! Thank you ever so much for sharing this fine work with us! :)
