MemberFacehuggerNov-25-2014 1:57 PMSince he won't be directing 'Blade Runner 2', which starts filming in 2015, I'd guess/hope his next directing role after 'The Martian' will be on 'Prometheus 2: Paradise'.
From this Variety...
When “The Martian” wraps later this winter, Scott already has a fair idea what he’ll be doing next, though it likely won’t be the much-anticipated “Blade Runner” sequel he developed with the original film’s co-screenwriter, Hampton Fancher. “We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one,” says Scott, who adds that fans can expect to see Harrison Ford back in the saddle as the futuristic gumshoe Rick Deckard. “Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.” Per Scott, that Alcon Entertainment production should go before the cameras within the next year, but with someone else directing (he’ll produce).

MemberOvomorphNov-25-2014 4:07 PMI welcome these news wholeheartedly.
We'll know about his next directorial gig, eventually, probably after he wraps up The Martian.
Now that BR2 is not on the table for him anymore, considering that Prom 2 has had about 15 drafts written already, Scott won't direct it only if he doesn't want to. But I think he does. He sounds excited when talking about it.

MemberOvomorphNov-25-2014 5:05 PMSo he isn't directing BR2 but he is producing, which is good enough for me. My heart was set on P2 so I hope I hope I hope it's next. I want to say " what else COULD there be?" but we know that's a dangerous question. What if he's agreed to film a live action Tetris movie? Too many dark, mysterious possibilities. Time to drown my anxieties in ravioli.

MemberOvomorphNov-25-2014 5:49 PMI hope his next film, after The Martian, is Prometheus 2; because he seems to be very enthusiastic about the project. After all, this man is a legend of the science fiction, and I'm sure he can make a great movie in this universe where no one can hear you scream.

MemberFacehuggerNov-26-2014 9:17 AM@Major Noob, regarding "what else COULD there be?"...
Well, I know he's been wanting to make 'Forever War' into a movie as he owns the rights to it. But let's hope for 'P2:P'

MemberFacehuggerDec-04-2014 5:55 AMWell, it seems Scott sure is wrestling with the decision. I'm glad to hear he thinks "The script is very, very good. Very good" (he co-wrote it after all), but part of me wonders if he thought that about 'Prometheus' and, as much as I like the movie, I would never say the script was very, very good... very good. :-)
Personally, I would love it if he decided to focus his attention on 'Blade Runner 2' and however many more 'Prometheus' movies he intends to make (I always thought it would be a triology prequel to 'Alien'), rather than bouncing around to "new material".

MemberOvomorphDec-14-2014 10:35 AMIn this interview at Boxoffice.com, Scott says he still hasn't decided which project he'll make first: Prom 2 or BR2.
I might be reading too much into it, but it sounds like he's willing to direct both of them.

MemberFacehuggerDec-15-2014 7:20 AMYeah, that seems like he is open to directing both and not sure which one is next.
Personally, I think 'P2P' (or 'Prometheus 2: Paradise' is what I like to think it might be called) should be next, followed by 'BR2'. It requires a little more story to tell than 'Blade Runner', which doesn't really need anything additional but I am happy to revisit that world if done well. My wife, who is not nearly into these films as I am, wholeheartedly agrees and I get a feeling that would be the consensus of most average movie-goers who are familiar with these films.
