According to the latest Famitsu leaks, Bandai Namco is currently developing a new Godzilla title for the PlayStation 3. The game is due out this winter.

In the action title, you’ll be able to take down buildings by using Godzilla’s kicks and tail blows. Godzilla himself has been given a great deal of care, as Famitsu notes that the team were inspired by the S.H.MonsterArts figures.

Development of the Godzilla PS3 project is currently 40 percent complete.

Sorry, but I find this HARd to believe. I want a new Godzilla game beyong words but I highly doubt that this is legit. Why just PS3? It's very sketchy if you ask me.

Regardless if it's fake or not it's still a good find. Plus, it heightens my hope for more Godzilla which is never a bad thing.

Yeah idk how I am suppose to believe this honestly, but I guess if it's true then that's amazing and I'll definetely buy it

We'll have to wait and see, judging from the rest of the site, it's not a troll site and they actually report legit game news. So I know the whole "take it with a grain of salt" thing, but damn am I excited regardless. If it turns out to be fake, then I will be sad. So, no harm done.

well its not uncommon to have exclusives for consoles. this might be one of those games. of we might get more of an idea when the story develops more

should there be a godzilla game, guess i'll have to upgrade to a ps3 or even a xbox one, unless they release for it xbox 360 then i'll be safe. :)

Seriously, why would a new game be exclusive for a previous-gen console? Haven't the people who made this up heard of the PS4? In fact, why would a new Godzilla game be exclusive to a single console when he's probably just experienced a massive boost in popularity? Wouldn't they want to make the game accessible to as many potential customers as possible? Why would they waste time and money making a console Godzilla game that's apparently focused mainly on smashing buildings when that's what literally nobody wants and there's already a mobile game that's just like that? I think the people who made this rumor did think of all these things, and they just wanted to laugh at all the people who are gullible enough to believe it.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-23-2014 1:42 PM

@LINKZILLA Well then, yeesh. It's been done before, and seeing how Godzilla has lost popularity until this reboot, it makes perfect sense that they would want to take it slow when it comes to investing in game development. You want a PS4 game? Well they are far more expensive to develop, why take the risk if you're game isn't gonna sell much?

If anything, this is an experiment, to see how Godzilla fairs against the gaming crowd. And it's not a troll post, a site that does gaming news posting troll posts would lose their audience far too fast. Believe it or not, but there's no reason to get so worked up.

Food for thought coming from a big gamer. Sony platforms are known for being big for Indie games so considering the fact that it's 40% completed at this point and supposedly only coming to PS3 it sounds to me, especially considering the vague description of the gameplay, that it's an indie game being developed for the system with the larger install base (PS3 over PS4). Therefore it is very possible.  Conversely, the system could be just the rumor and we could actually be having a real Godzilla game being developed for likely both Microsofts and Sony's platforms, who knows. This is actually very believable news though, and yes Kotaku is a generally good source for leaks like this.

If this game is real (which i don't think it is) I don't like the premise of it. You are Godzilla and all you do is destroy cities. That is all, no fighting other monsters or anything. Here are two very good ideas for Godzilla games (only one of them is mine but people seem to like it and what would you expect?)

Could be legit due to the PS3 still being superior to the 4. I've yet to encounter somebody who truly trashed their 3 once they got a 4.

NerdyBandGeeks

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-23-2014 3:12 PM

Well maybe that is all they are releasing, premise-wise. Sounds to me like they would be making another Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee type game. That game does feature a classic mode, I'm pretty sure, where you just rampage through the city.

Hope it's true. I'm sticking with my PS3 for a little while longer.

Yeah I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but at the same time it looks pretty ledgit, it makes sense it that they would come out in the winter mainly since to game rights to godzilla expire in 2015 and if this is true then it would explain who bought the rigths to make a godzila game. Also didn't they do something like this with godzilla smash 3 announce it a few mounth early and they realise a trailer closer to the realise dae. And here's hoping that it won't be another damn puzzle game, who's with me on that last part?

I don't understand why it is just ps3. Maybe it is ps4 exclusive but what messed up when it was posted on article.

All I'm going to say is, I think and hope this is fake.

MemberBaragonJun-24-2014 12:39 AM

I agree with Linkzilla I don't understand coming out with it just for the PS3 with the new gens fresh on the market. The fact the game is only 40% complete and they're announcing it just of a last gen console is strange. I mean unleash was released on PS2 when the PS3 was available, but it was also released on the wii which at the time was part of the newest game consoles. Strange for a game to be an exclusive for a console that will be even farther out of date when the game's actually complete, it's may cost less to make, but the profits will be much lower too.

NerdyBandGeeks

the source of these rumors appear to be coming from a Japanese gaming news website. I'm not sure about the credibilty of it.

G. H. (Gman)

AdminGodzillaJun-24-2014 1:13 AM

NerdyBandGeeks,

The website is pointing to leaked information from an upcoming Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine that's usually on the ball. I can't tell if the magazine has yet to come out or is already on the market, but the picture seems to suggest a page from that magazine with the reported information we've recently heard.

To be fair it doesn't say it's not going to be for other consoles, but considering the PS3 is still wildly popular in Japan it makes sense that this is a last-gen game made for Japanese gamers.

I guess we can now see it's actually real, and coming to the PS3. My already expensive year for gaming just got a bit more expensive. lol
