Casting for the sequel.

Ok I will list 3 male actors and 3 female actors who I would like to be in the sequel.

Male:

1. Robert Downey Jr.

2. Christian Bale

3. Jamie Foxx

Female:

1. Emma Stone

2. Sandra Bullock

3. Angelina Jolie

Ken Watanabe and sally hawkins should stay

I agree with Robert Downey Jr. Christian Bale and Jamie Foxx, But i'm honestly not so sure about Angelina Jolie and Emma Stone tho... But Sandra Bullock i agree with as well.

Other suggestions could be:

Morgan Freeman (admit it, him in a godzilla movie would be very interesting)

Kate Beckinsale

Anthony Hopkins

AKIRA NAKAO IS A MUST

Kenji Sahara would be nice too

Bennedict Cumberbatch would be interesting 

Megumi Odaka(also being named Miki but only as an easter egg and not related to the heisei or esp)

Hiroyuki Sanada

IMO, Gary Oldman would bring another touch of realism to the cast.

I reckon that if Bryan Cranston couldn't have acted as Joe Brody in the new film, Gary Oldman would have been a great replacement! He is such a good actor! Loved him in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy :D

I hope Watanabe and Hawkins remain throughout the entire series, similar to Miki Saegusa in the Heisei series. I don't really have an exact cast I want to see. I just want them to be good!

Forget big name actors, I want to be in it!! Hahah

Great ideas guys! I personally think Jessica chastain would be a phenomenal choice, as would shailene woodley (hope I got that right!). As far as male actors go, I would maybe get Christian bale and whoever it is that plays Tywin Lannister game of thrones as a scientist maybe!

Gary Oldman, Ken Watanabe, and Anthoney Hopkins

I agree largely with The_Real_Slim_Zilla. So many of the actors/actresses mentioned here I have come to largely associate with a particular role, especially any of those involved with Marvel or DC. I loooove RDJ but to me he will always be Iron Man and will always have that snarky Tony Stark attitude(even though his role in Chaplin was different). Same goes for Angelina Jolie, Christian Bale and several others. I have seen them all do so many things over the past decade. 

Watanabe I really enjoyed, plus he was a bit of a Godzilla fanboy in the new movie, and him knowing the back story I think could serve well in a sequel. I'm sure there is plenty of stuff he "could" know about that he didn't mention in this film. Monster Island and other creatures..yada yada yada. 

I didn't know who Bryan Cranston was until the casting of this movie, and then when I fell in love with Breaking Bad, I largely could only associate him has Walter White but he wasn't ingrained into my mind as just that character, so I felt like he had more to offer....if that makes any sense, lol.  

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Freeman are two of my favorite actors and I could possiblity see them in the Godzilla universe, mostly because they are highly seasoned and very adaptable and I wouldn't immediatly think "Oh look there is Thors dad or Hannibal". I liked the idea that Gareth picked from lesser knowns or from the Indie world for this movie, and while there were some bumps along the way, I'm sure he could do it again and better. I'm just getting fatigued at seeing so many of the top actors recycled over and over and over when there is either new blood or seasoned older actors that aren't constantly plastered on movie posters hoping to attract an audience.

Although the franchise is 60 years old, we have a "new" Godzilla on our hands. I'd like to see some "new" actors to go with him. 

Anyways, my 2 cents.  

Gary Old man would make for a great scientist or geologist

I like how there seems to be a consensus to stray from much of the first movie's cast-- with minor exceptions. It follows the trend of new characters in every Godzilla film which was always the series' stronger attribute.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is doing something similar. James Franco is out and a whole new slew of characters is taking over. Eyes should be peeled for how audiences respond to that. It could add credence to a new cast for the sequel.

Assuming this sequel grows wings anyway...

Something Real: you realize you just questioned if Hugh Jackman could be taken seriously as an actor starring in a Sci Fi flick...when you're considering him for role in a Sci Fi flick...LOL

can't go wrong with Gary Oldman for sure.  Gotta put a plug in for my man Kevin Spacey too...guy's been Lex Luthor, K-PAX, The killer in Se7en, and Lester Burnham!

Wouldn't mind Paul Giamatti in the right role either...and Emma Thompson! Whew!

Gotta bring back Watanabe for sure...

Okay, okay I know we're all SERIOUS here...cuz we're so serious...but if you wanted any amount of humor in the next movie, tell me Ken Jeoung wouldn't be the best...well, maybe too good though.  Still, I'd consider it...

I would really like to see Matthew Fox in the new movie.
