Hey Daikaiju Fans!

So I have recently read a very spoiler-filled review of Godzilla 2014 (I have only read parts concerning Godzilla and a little on the Mutos)  and made a pretty big discovery:

The Mutos aren't necessarily evil. They're actually sympathetic. They're animals, just like Godzilla.

In the review, it said that the Muto's primary goal is to reunite with each other in order to mate (I'm not sure how they got seperated in the first place...). And the reviewer stated that it is almost heartwarming to see them finally together as a Muto Family. <3

Also, the Male Winged Muto is kind of sweet. He freaking steals an ATOMIC BOMB and gives it as a gift to his beloved, Eight Legged Honey in order to court her. "Oh honey, you shouldn't have!"

Hear's the tear-jerker. So, Ford Brody somehow destroys the Muto's nest right? The two Mutos STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR DEATH-BATTLE WITH GODZILLA in order to see what happened to their Little Muto Babies. The couple are shocked to see their children all dead. The Mother looks upon her dead kin with despair, making SYMPATHETIC, SADDENING WHIMPERS. When she sees Ford attempting to escape, and sees what her has done...well...

Let's just say she ain't happy.

So what do you guys think? Are you dissapointed that the Mutos aren't evil like gigan or SpaceGodzilla?

Edit- Here's the link to the review, PLEASE BE AWARE HE IS REVEALING EVERYTHING IN THIS: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0831387/board/nest/229500515

Why do I keep reading this stuff!?! It's still very interesting.

I think that one of the issue with this film could be that we won't be getting any real villains, Human or monster. I guess it is more ''realistic'', to make these creatures animalistic and  ignorant in terms of good and evil, but ultimately  What made ''monster'' movies like Jaws, Jurassic Park, Alien or even the original Gojira good is that all those monsters in those films were very much baddies that killed, Or atleast they were portrayed that way.. In this film, I think that  we won't be getting that. It's Gareth's Monsters (film) all over again.

One thing I don't understand is   As long as the Muto don't attack him,  why would Godzilla care what the Mutos do ?, Why seek them out, be an a#@hole and cockblock their reunion ?

Is it just me, or does the eight legged Muto look a little too small in this shot?

I like how you put it as a "small discovery" in the tittle. You know, cause why the mutos are in the movie isnt important. lol

DAIKAIJU_DANIELLE - That's so incredibly touching! I'm very much in love with the idea that the MUTOs are living, brething creatures interested in survival - just like any of us. However, their method of living and breathing might not be in line with what's good for our species, ergo they are - regardless of intention - the antagonist of the film. I just know I'm going to end up bawling like a baby at this film! I'm going to bring one big box of ultra-soft tissues in my purse - alongside my Goobers!

COCKZILLA - The "breeding" part is entailed in the "living and breathing". ;)

That actually sounds really intriguing and possibly quite heartwarming! I mean, obviously the breeding of the M.U.T.O.s spells doom for the species of the world, including Godzilla and Humanity, and we can't let that happen, but WOW. Giving even our resident monster "villains" a softer side not often seen with such dangerous beasts in nature? That's brilliant!

If you think about, only the Humans can ever be considered the "villains" in this movie with this new perspective, since Godzilla and his ancient enemies are simply enacting nature's instinctual paths, while Humanity is consciously doing the horrible things they've done.

@Johnsmith - Regarding your question as to why Godzilla had to stop the MUTOs, you do realize that the MUTOs are actually breeding and if you are sitting down there alone in the ocean like Godzilla hearing the MUTOs call out to each other, you would be afraid. Very afraid. Two MUTOs are enough to give Godzilla and humanity a headache, imagine them spawning and dominating the entire Earth. If Godzilla does nothing, he will end up becoming a meal of the MUTOs.

@Something Real - I can almost picture you sitting there watching Godzilla on the big screen and sobbing haha. I hope I won't get sad too seeing the demise of the MUTOs because from the way it was described, it sure sounds sad having Mother MUTO mourn for her dead babies. She must have been seething with anger and thinking " These human B**tards again, I'm gonna wipe 'em all! Having said that, I hate the idea that the script is such that Ford Brody becomes the one to destroy the eggs, which distracts the MUTOs and grants victory to Godzilla. This kind of scenario involving humans sabotaging and changing the game sounds all too familiar and overused. This almost sounds like a human triumph, and humanity was supposed to be helpless, remember? Having Ford Brody destroy the eggs would be symbolic of humanity's triumph in tilting the odds for Godzilla who was supposed to be portrayed as a 'God'. And yet now this scene would lend credence to humanity's claim that without Ford's act, Godzilla would have lost. And such is the impression that audiences will be left with at the end of the show. And in this aspect, I think the story has failed to represent Godzilla's omnipotence. Which is a pity and a shame. I honestly hate this idea of human sabotage or intervention.

@Titanosaurus - I was thinking is the guy facing the MUTO Ford Brody? or is it a member of the audiences' head blocking the view while the person takes a secret camera shot? Haha
