MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 5:54 PMHello everyone. I decided to pop back up after absence to share a thought of mine with you all.
After watching many videos pertaining to the new Godzilla, including slow-motion videos, I have come to notice that Godzilla and the [Flying] M.U.T.O. look as though they are adorned with scars, much like the original Gojira in '54.
To be specific, keloid scars are what I am referring to. It is an odd observation, and it might just be my excitement playing with my mind, but I'm at least positive Godzilla has the scars.
For those who don't know [I assume, very few], keloid scars are an extremely severe kind of scar. Many victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs were covered in them. It's horrid to think about, but it really does seem like Legendary may have revived that aspect of Godzilla that seemed to have been lost after Showa.
Anyone agree? Anyone think I'm just too excited and seeing things?

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-06-2014 5:57 PMI don't see the scars on Godzilla, he looks to me to be fully armor plated, much like a crocodile. In fact, I'm fairly certain the skin texture was based on a crocodile or alligator.

I sort of see it, but really small to me.

MemberBaragonMay-06-2014 9:01 PMDeviantest and Duraatok:
The original Godzilla suit used in the '54 Godzilla suit was called the "alligator Godzilla" because of its resemblance to the skin of the alligator as well as suggesting the hideous scars of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki victims. I see the same with the 2014 Godzilla. So you are both right (go to 5:32):

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-07-2014 1:49 PMI'm glad to see some people have decided to take a gander at this topic, and that at least one of them disagrees as well!
@Duratok- From one angle, I can agree with you. From another, I have to disagree. From both, I can agree that Godzilla is definitely based off of crocodilians.
@GodzillaRim- And what you think is actually kind of interesting. Care to share more as to why you think we're both right?
@GodzillaTheKing123- Ah, yes, good ol' Gojira. Yes, I recall seeing that video some time ago. Though, I am partially confused; this thread is about the 2014 design, not the '54. Then again, I'm confused and could be misreading what you have brought forth.
@Something Real- You are always so polite! I appreciate that. On topic, I am glad you took the time to compare the designs as I did. It is all quite fascinating when you think about it. How deep the design really is, and how passionate the person who made it must have had [or still has] when they made the model/render.
