MemberMothra LarvaeApr-26-2014 11:21 PMI remembered the graphic novel that will serve as the prequel to Godzilla and it got me wondering. Since Godzilla and the Muto are ancient creatures that were awakened, what else, if anything, is there? Is it possible that other giant creatures existed before the reign of the Zillas and the Muto, or even during their time, free to thrive while the Muto and the Zilla's were busy hunting each other as some of you have suggested? If Gareth decides to shoot for a sequel I'm quite sure this will be explored before any new monsters spawn after the events in the movie. I wonder what other monsters might lay in slumber, and how much of a threat they might be for Godzilla. Hopefully the graphic novel will touch up on this a little, or at the very least, drop a few hints about it. Hint hint, Deathla o.0

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 12:27 AM@SOMETHING REAL - Do you remember the poster for Godzilla 3D To the Max? The background was Vegas. Godzilla 2014 will also feature Vegas. Coincidence, or is it something else? :]

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 12:43 AM@SOMETHING REAL - It certainly would be. I loved Deathla's concept. I hope to see him return in some form or another

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 2:19 AMI've actually thought about this one and I think that exploring the world from which godzilla came would be a really exciting idea for a sequel or maybe down the line, a prequel! Good thinking KAGE432

MemberTitanosaurusApr-27-2014 4:19 AMMan, now I'm suddenly thinking about the ancient past where several other Kaiju species lived alongside the Mutos and the Godzilla species, like the Angillasaurs, the Pteran-Rodan, etc. But weirdest of all......I'm suddenly thinking of two bull Godzillas fighitng over territory.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 5:54 AMDoing something like Deathla would be unbelievably stupid. The name itself is even retarded. Glad that project was canned and will never see the light of day.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 6:11 AMWhat if the godzilla species wasn't at the top of the food chain?

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 7:57 AMI am pretty sure that there was other creatures, the Godzillas and the Mutos can't be the only species of that time. I think if Edwards revives Toho monsters I am pretty sure that they will have something to do with that period.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 9:19 AMMothra and King Ghidorah seem like no-brainers as far as other ancient creatures go. Especially if they go with something similar to the "Cretaceous King Ghidorah" angle used in Rebirth of Mothra.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 10:22 AMThere of course has to be other creatures.
I was thinking about this the other day.
Perhaps in a sequel, they could show what it looked like in the time of when the Jira's ruled the earth.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 12:37 PMDoes anyone think there was a creature more terrible than the Godzillas?

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-27-2014 1:53 PMi'd say it's certainly possible, if they have any basic understanding of ecology. In nature there are things called niches. A niche is the role an organism plays in it's enviornment. Niches are sledom left vacant- something usually evolves to fill it. Look at the ice age. The niche of heavyweight browser was filled throughout most of the world by extinct elephants. But in australia, there were no elephants. So an ancient cousin of the wombat (Diprotodon) evolved to fill that role, producing the largest marsupial that ever lived. If there is a mass extinction, the survivors will evolve to fill the now vacant niches. even in areas of reletively low diversity, there are still many species occupying different niches. Look at North America. Compared to the ice age it's diversity is much reduced, but you still have deer, elk, moose, cougars, wolves, bears, and so on.
An ecosystem is never as simple as two species (Godzilla and Muto). There had to have been other beasts sharing their world, interacting in different ways with each other. If this was never considered by the film makers, and this past world was just Godzilla and the Mutos, then i'd call that a wasted opportunity and a terrible piece of world building.

MemberTitanosaurusApr-27-2014 2:03 PMAnd now I wanna see a documentary-style look into the lives of these gigantic beasts living alongside those puny little regularly evolved creatures. Anyone else?
