Hey Daikaiju fans!

Do you guys remember the HALO jump scene from the recent Extended Godzilla trailer? It's obviously very different compared to the first teaser trailer from December 10th.

This may sound like a dumb question, but is the first scene just for the teaser and not to spoil the Muto so early? Or is it a deleted/concept trailer?

Probably just edited for the teaser so they wouldn't spoil the MUTO so early. The second scene does look much more polished than the first one.

Hard to say, only time well tell. Good question though.

So this must be the 400% more awesome surprise from the Halo jump scene that the writers were forbidden to mention. Godzilla is fighting a MUTO.

ok.

@RF

I highly doubt this is the surprise. It takes place after the HALO jump scene I believe.

RF is probably correct.

The fact that he's fighting the MUTO is most likely the surprise.

We've got to keep in mind that there is a difference between what will surprise a casual movie goer and what will surprise a die hard fan that has been following this movie's development closely for several months, if not years.

That's part of the draw back of being a fan, we WILL spoil ourselves a little bit. I'm not saying ALL of the movies secrets have been revealed or deciphered. But there are fewer secrets remaining to us than general audiences.

I believe most of the secrets/surprises revealed at the 20 minute screening were primarily MUTO reveals, and would have been genuinely suprising to the general audience of reporters that were in attendance.

What few surprises remain to us fans (I'm confident some still remain) will probably be minor in nature. I don't anticipate any genuine surprises left for us that will "make the movie 400% more awesome" as some of the reports have put it.

Actually I dun think its got to do with whether the original trailer had intentionally left out the muto during that scene and then re-edited it to show the muto when they released the latest trailer.

Have you guys considered that maybe what you see could have been from a different angle/perspective? E.g. the earlier trailer where we only see Godzilla below could have been viewed through the lenses of say, trooper A who was making the halo jump?

And then in the latest trailer where we see both Muto and Godzilla, it could have been viewed through the lenses of another trooper who is descendng down from a further distance?

Its not a dumb question at all!  That was bugging me too!  I think you're right: the Godzilla shot from the teaser was there to conceal the Muto.  I believe the scene may have been created specifically for the teaser, as it is definitely a tease for the monster that won't be needed at that point in the movie (if the HALO/Godzilla vs Winged Muto sequence is the final act of the film).  Eye witnesses of the extended HALO jump scene pointed out that the sequence dosn't depict exactly what the trailer implies, and the Godzilla vs Winged Muto shot seems to confirm that there was some skullduggery afoot with the teaser. :) I'm on the same page as Madison with the "400% more awesome" comment: chances are the media had NO IDEA that Godzilla would be fighting a monster in this film, because they haven't been following its production since 2009 like we have!  They likely went in expecting a Godzilla vs the Military scenario, like the one that appeared in the 1998 Godzilla, but were blown away when the Mutos were revealed.  But while they got to see the truth, we saw a newly created scene that hid the Muto and teased Godzilla, who was still a big mystery in early December 2013.  We barely glimpsed a Muto until the end of March, and our only shot of the HALO jump scene's true nature was a fleeting one.  Here's hoping we see a bit more soon! :)
