This thread will home the discussion revolving around the main trailer for Godzilla! This includes topics about the M.U.T.O, The trailers content itself, trailer related discoveries, and anything else that has to do with the trailer
With the trailer closing in on 16 million views in less than a week. I'm pretty excited from the revealed plot details and little teases of the kaiju's designs, and it being one of the few trailers now-at-days to not ruin the film. I've been waiting since Final Wars.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 1:54 PMreally i LOVE this trailer, in a unbiased oppinion it is probably one of the best trailers, the trailer looks like something you put a lot of work, they gave us so much and yet kept didn't have near to no spoilers, it got rid of some fears and specualtion like what godzilla pretty much looks like, the fact that he was asleep then woken up by the hbombs like the original and the fact they manipulated history to serve this movie (the nuclear 'tests' in the pacific being actual attempts to kill him) but what i found the best part was the dialogue they included, especially ken wantanabe's dialogue.
also i think this is the only trailer 'main' trailer we will have for a while, i say this becuase normally if there will be more than 1 main trailer they have main trailer #1 and then #2, this one does not have number, although we will still get the tv spots.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 1:58 PMPossible Sink Hole Explanation
When I saw the Main Trailer for the first time, I noticed something. With beautiful camera work, the 3 origami pieces in the top left corner of the Power plant shot looked like jet planes or birds or insects flying over the power plant as it was being decimated. I couldn't imagine that was coincidence. I knew that illusion in the camerawork was there for a reason.
And after the Gareth Edwards breakdown of the trailer (which you should all watch. It's about 11 minutes long) he stops specifically to talk about that scene and the origami pieces and that it was foreshadowing something.
Now, I'm going to assume here that the flying MUTO is an insect-type being and not a Rodan-type one. Based off my knowledge of insects (I'm a bio major), there are countless of different species of flying Arthropods that burrow deep within the earth to form their nests/dwellings. Maybe the origami pieces aren't symbolizing an attack from above, but from underground. We've essentially come to the conclusion that the MUTOs feed off radiation and possibly even use radiation to grow their offspring. So, they built a colony under the plant. Not just that one, but under many other nuclear sources.
I initially thought that it was Godzilla that attacked the plant- but Godzilla would obviously be seen.
Plus, the plant seems not to be blowing up, but buckling and sinking into the ground. Maybe around the sinkholes shown in the MUTOResearch website were sights of nuclear powered sources. I remember seeing the MUTOResearch pictures and in the pictures in the jungle there were buildings near the sinkholes. Perhaps they were just not taken down from the surface buckling. Plus, it seems that the MUTOs are being covered up by the government more than Godzilla is being covered up because they actually have excuses for the MUTO attacks whereas they just send test bombs into the Pacific Ocean for Godzilla hoping it'll kill him. Which is why I think Cranston is yelling at whoever is at the other end of that mirror about the MUTOs.
It's sort of like that ultimate denial real world people have. Like where we believe we're all currently safe in this very moment when way back in our heads we're aware that this world can be changed in an instant(war). In the film I think they're just trying to assume nothing will happen with the MUTOs and Godzilla but the danger always looms in the back of our heads until it finally happens and we're like "damn". Not saying I cracked a code, just speculating a bit!

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 2:20 PManouther thing is that this trailer and the g events after have proved that godzilla is very popular around the world and has convinced and excited more people than the teaser trailer did, even those who didn't like the teaser trailer loved this one. also the origami may forshadow that the flying MUTO is a bird and the thing attacking the plant maybe the spider-like-monster

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 3:10 PMGTBETTA35, I like your theory, particularly regarding the connection between the sink holes and the insect mutos. I disagree though on the flying muto, the little that we see of it just doesn't convince me that it's an insect. Great catch on the origami figures though! I didn't catch it until watching Edwards' commentary, and that was after several viewings of the trailer!

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 3:14 PMDo you know that topic concerning the flying muto?, that was really something, I watched it over again and it definitely seems like a gargantuan wing coming down on the left of the screen during that short scene where the helicopter is spiralling down on fire. Please just check it out and let me know your thoughts thanks ✌

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-02-2014 4:19 PMI wonder if the flying M.U.T.O will resemble Rodan?

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-03-2014 12:57 PMI posted about that wing and my post was never allowed because there had already been too much talk about it? We'll, seems like it's still being discussed. All shots of that flying muto (planes crashing (muto's wings and front view diving), helicopter spinning out of control (muto wing and claw), and even the train scene (muto beak), show a gray colored creature. Coincedence?

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 2:25 AMok people, can someone tell me and talking strictly from the trailor, did the scientist nuke mommy Godzilla in 1954 and then another one grew up over the years and awoke in 2014? or they nuked it in 1954 and it went into hibernation?
