MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 3:59 PMAccording to "Lebanesse Cinema Movie Guide.com" we will be getting a new Godzilla trailer on Fenruary 7th. For some reason, I doubt this, but here take a look for yourself.
Lebanesse Cinema Movie Guide.com/New Godzilla trailer
As I said, I doubt this is true, it seems too soon for a new trailer, but, I won't lie, it would be nice!
Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-24-2014 4:07 PMI doubt it also. I've had Legendary tell me they don't reveal trailer release dates. We can only speculate. I'd like to think Legendary plans to drop trailer #2 on the 100 day countdown mark, which would be February 4th - 5th. But again, that's just more speculation. They didn't release anything for Godzilla's 59th anniversary, so I'm honestly not sure if they'll roll with the "...In 100 days" type of promotion. We'll just have to wait and see.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:16 PMim sure they will release one soon, i think people are over reacting to this 'lack of marketing' this seems pretty normal, i never know when a new movie is coming out untill i either go cinema 6-2 months before the films release or 1month-2 weeks before release, so i'd say the marketing will kick off even more between march-2 weeks before may 16th

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:16 PMChris Picard, I personally believe we may see a bit more viral marketing in the next month or two...and a final trailer around March...specifically about time for the release of 300 Rise of an Empire. It would make sense, advertise a Legendary film infront of a Legendary Film. I'm really fearful for this film. WB and Legendary haven't exactly been kind to eachother since their contract ran out. WB just barely pushed Pacific Rim out the door. They didn't want to market it. I fear the same for Godzilla. 13+ Million views on the trailer is a good sign, but it could be better. One thing that still makes me curious is a statement Aaron Johnson made a few months ago. He said they would start a marketing tour...I'm not exactly sure what he meant by that, but I'm still curious. I've been predicting how this movie will do at box office, and the numbers I believe we will see will be good, but not amazing. I predicted the same for Pacific Rim, and I was pretty much right...
I reallly want this film to succeed...but I fear it may have a bumpy road.
Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-24-2014 4:26 PMIt's true the biggest factor holding Godzilla back is probably the tarnished relationship between WB and Legendary, but WB still has a hand in the pocket of Godzilla's success, so I doubt they'll ignore it completely.
It makes sense that 300 will feature a Godzilla trailer, it's pretty much guaranteed. But will itbe the first trailer? Or something new? That's the question.
I hope Legendary does a series of behind-the-scene featurettes like they did with Pacific Rim leading up to Godzilla's release. Featurettes that show audiences that this Godzilla is mature, serious and a film to be excited about.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:30 PMthere are like 4 months before the movie, that is still plenty of time, and i think they have done a good job so far, i know more of the plot of ASM2 and XMEN DoFP more than this movie, i have no clue what this movie invloves other than the synopis, that means i will be surprised and unexepcting stuff in the movie. plus they need to release more posters and banners, they are just as good as trailers and cheaper marketing tools, also you got websites like ign and youtube channels like watch mojo.com and internet critiques/reviewers including james rolfe aka. angry videogame nerd is is a big godzilla fan. the movie will do fine, i predict it will be one of the highest rated movies between 80-95% on rotton tomatoes, it may not do financially well against amazing spiderman 2 but it might be rated better than it.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:37 PMIm pretty srue A new trailer will be arriving soon maybe in March or feb And i think it,s going too be an offical trailer or another teaser but im going too see what happens
godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:42 PMi'd say an full official trailer will be either between april to the start of may, it would be funny if the godzilla trailer was shown in front of TASM2.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:45 PMAs much as I would like the full trailer to be released that soon, it will most likely be released around March.
@GODZILLA1995 That would be way too late, even from a marketing standpoint.

AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-24-2014 4:48 PMI totally agree I think it'll do fine and I also agree 4 months is more than enough time to market the film, but for a film like Godzilla, if I was in charge of their marketing department, I'd be marketing it at least once a week 6 months prior to release. Something new every week or twice a week. Then only speed it up as we get closer to release. I just find movies like X-Men and other superhero movies get promoted years in advance and extensively withint a year leading up to release andthey rake in the Box Office dollars.
Look at Twitter, though there's no real correlation with number of Twitter followers and ticket sales, it does show who's interested enough to "follow" updates on a certain movie. You've got some movies with 20K plus followers and some even as high as 1M! Some movies launch multiple Twitter profiles and Facebook pages to add to the viral marketing campaign, which further promote the film and gain fans. Godzills currently is just over 10K followers. Our fan account is at just pver 6K followers. Combined we're a fraction of what Amazing Spiderman 2 has.
Now, Legendary's Pacific Rim Twitter has 20K plus followers. Since both are Kaiju movies, why not market Godzilla as well with Pacific Rim? Our fan Pacific Rim account has about 5800 followers and I occasionally will advertise Godzilla on that account too and it boosts our article views by a few thousand and in the case of a trailer, helps up the view count by tens of thousands.
I'm just not sure if a 4 month blitz of marketing will be "enough" to sway those who might no give a crap about Godzilla, or automatically associate it with the '98 let down. It's a tricky situation. There's no universal marketing strategy that works for every movie. Each one needs to be unique. I have faith in Legendary, they're true fans at heart and I think fans are the best marketers because their more passionate about the film. But we're going up against Amazing Spider-Man 2, which has a lot of followers and fans behind it. CHances are every person who sees Godzilla will also see Spider-Man 2, but not every person who sees Spider-Man 2 will see Godzilla. So the marketing for Godzilla needs to be more aggressive and persistent. But that's my opinion.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 4:53 PMi mostly agree with you chris, now for an earlyer date of prediction for an full official trailer then i'd say march to mid april, maybe even with the 300 sequel and also i heard there is a toy thing happening in march and i'm sure the next teaser will be between mid feburay to mid march with possibly 2 more posters teasing the MUTOs.
Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-24-2014 5:03 PMYeah but 1 trailer and 2 posters in a 4 month span? I'm sure there will be more, but like they could use non-spoilerish movie stills with quotes or catchy taglines printed on them. Concept artwork, or even mini-video clips like they did with the Muto Research site promotion.
There's another point - MUTOResearch.net = a great idea and a great viral site with a ton of homages to the franchise. But when was the last time something was discovered on the site? Again, something new every week or even bi-weekly would keep interest high. I haven't visited the Muto Research site in a while, since mostly everything was discovered.
I agree we'll probably see something new within the next 3 weeks, but willit be substantial enough to ignite more interest in the "average joe".
Cause we need to remember, the marketing isn't really for Godzilla fans. They know we'll see the movie no matter what. The bigges challenge will be to get the average movie goer to see Godzilla. They're the hardest to sway and get in the theater. The target demographic will be primarily young to mid-age men for the most part. Not many women are into Godzilla, despite my efforts to promote by word of mouth, hahaha. Godzilla also doesn't fit the description of a "date" movie, so the chances of boyfriends convincing their girlfriends to go see the movie is also slim. That cuts some ticket sale opporutnities in half.
That's why I'm so adamant that this marketing needs to be "in your face". I'm not discounting Legendary's efforts, and I'm not expecting Godzilla to fail. I'm remaining very optimistic. Just voicing ideas on how the film's success could be amplified even more.
godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 5:12 PMreally for the average movie goer they need to let them know that this is a serious godzilla movie, with a serious plot and serious cast, i think interviews with the main cast member will help as well although they have been interviewed multiple times, i some how think that the next step in the MUTO Research website will focus on the mystery of the monsters and muations including the sinkholes, if not it may act like a servellience on the main casts characters with bios and reports of activity or locations of monster attacks.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-24-2014 6:22 PMI'm hoping the next trailer is an official one. One that'll be televised. The marketing needs to pick up, as of now it's mainly us the fans doing the marketing and Legendary knows that. Hopefully they step in with some sick promos for us to share around. I'm hoping within the next 1-2 months we start seeing some trailers, ect

AdminGodzillaJan-24-2014 9:40 PMHmm... I don't know if anyone noticed this, but the website that claims we'll get a trailer Feb. 7th says they're partnered with Warner Brothers in their About Us page. They could very well be telling the truth.
Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaJan-25-2014 2:09 AMWell, that certainly changes things... Good catch! Now I'm wondering if this claim is actually true. Thought I was under the impression such info is not given out publicly. Very interesting...

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 2:44 AMIf this does turn out to be true... the best clarification we'll get is an announcement in the new few days to generate hype for the official release. And that would be like a good time for another trailer to come out since many theatrical or final trailers come out 3 months max before the movie gets released. Most come out in 2 months, a few in 1 month before the release.
Sooo... there's a 50/50 chance this could be on the level. Especially with that point JMac15 pointed out!
I am now getting really amped for the coming days

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 2:47 AMI guess it is possible but then again you can't trust anything anymore when it comes to Godzilla 2014. It would be awesome if they release another trailer on Feb 7th because I reckon we are due for a new one.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 3:02 AMI'm not saying it not true, but anyone can make a website and list false information to make them seem more creditable. I tried searching for WB partners on their site to confirm this, so far I found nothing. I'm hoping it's true, but from looking at this website from a professional stand point. Something seems off about it.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 3:49 AMThe look of this site, it seems it's pretty official, and with RoboCop being released on the following Wednesday it looks like that film will help advertise Godzilla.
