MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 4:27 PMAs a hardcore Godzilla fan (and the first to call out and beat down bullshit rumors and false facts so that my fellow G-fans know only the truth about what has happened and what's coming), I find it very liberating to know that the trailer is finally here. We get our first true glimpse of Godzilla in all of his badass CG glory, and I have to say he looks amazing!
But one thing I'd like to know of from my fellow G-fans is what you think of his new roar. I like it, but the sudden increase in pitch at the end sounds almost like a coyote yelp to me and sounds a bit jarring. However, I still like the overall roar and the effect it has. But I'd like to know what you all think about it as well.
And please, don't compare it to past Godzilla roars or tell us which old roar you think is best. Just say whether or not you like this new roar and then describe why.
Thank you!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 4:41 PMthe roar is interesting, it definitely sounds like Godzilla, but its different, less mechanical. it sounds more like an actual animal, personally I hope he has some deeper sounding roars in the movie. it would make him seem a bit more menacing.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 5:20 PMIt sounds great, but to me it sounds wounded.
FOR SCIENCE OF COURSE!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 5:23 PMHonestly, I love it becuase I picture hearing it in a real life moment if Godzilla existed. Assuming that it would be so loud I couldn't hear myslef think, and it sounds very animal like, I would just lose hope for life.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 5:43 PMI like it a lot. towards the end it kind of reminds me of a whale which I think is ok since he's semi-aquatic.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 6:32 PMI love it. I think it'll be perfect for this particular film. It's eerie, just like the footage. I can not wait.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 6:58 PMThe roar scared the shit out of me when I first heard it, which means it's doing its job. I think its fine, though maybe a bit too high pitched.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 8:05 PMLet's all remember, Godzilla's roar can go to many differnet pitches depending on what he's responding to. During heartfelt moments it goes higher pitched, during times he wants to be intimidating it becomes low, during times when he's in pain it's also high pitched and short, and whenever you get that epic moment of seeing him after he's destroyed the city, it's usually long and in the middle between high and low.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 8:39 PMI do like the roar, but in the Teaser Trailer i felt that it was a bit weird at the end.
The gurgling was inaccurate and annoying.
Even a friend told me that it sounds like an error on the recording. I hope they fix that because that's my only complain about this awesome roar.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-10-2013 11:22 PMI really do agree with some of the comments about how it seems less "mechanical." I love the new roar, it has the familiarity that we love while making it's own impact. I personally love the bellowing towards the end when it drops in pitch. On another thread, where people are estimating Goji's height they compared him to that building in the trailer, so he'd be about 700 feet tall. So the bellowing helps me to imagine a titan and how their body would create this roar. I love how in the trailer even debris that must way in the tons is pushed back by the sound waves of his roar!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 10:49 PMIt took some time to figure it out, but I do like it. The first part could be a bit longer but it does have all the elements that make it recognizable. Can't wait not only to hear it, but feel it in a theater. Oh man... it's gonna be uber awesome!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2013 12:30 PM@VINYLJOHNNY - That thread where they compare him to a building and say he's over 700' tall is entirely inaccurate and unreliable. Godzilla will not be that tall. I can guarantee it.
