With the upcoming movie supposedly"very character driven" it brings me to the quetion:
If there is a sequel should the main cast return, and star in it?
US films tend to like to bring back casts, if possible, but for Godzilla I wonder if it is necessary. As I said before he is the main star for most fans with the humans simply occupying screentime until he shows up so the characters don't necessarily matter, in fact they may hold the film back if the continue to star in it. This is an intro so it makes sense for the average, possibly higher ranked soldier to be a focal point as he is the main type of person who would come in close contact with the monsters, epicenters of destruction, ect, but if the story progresses it wouldn't make much sense for this random soldier to continue to the the star when better more interesting characters could be newly introduced to continue the story and move it in different directions.
So do you think they cast should return and star in potential sequels? I'm not saying make cameos, or explain past scenes, possibly playing minor supporting characters, but continue to the the stars and focal points of the movies.

If Gareth Edwards makes us get attached to these characters like he claims he wants to, then to just forget them in the possible sequel will be unforgivable.
