Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to my daily DinoFight. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, every day I pit two of the most formidable dinosaurs to ever exist against one another in a fight to the death (most of the time). Medium division, round 1, fight 17: Daspletosaurus vs Tarascosaurus InGen File: Daspletosaurus [img]http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/naturelibrary/images/ic/credit/640x395/d/da/daspletosaurus/daspletosaurus_1.jpg[/img] Code Name: Steel jaw Also Known As: Chomper Danger Level: Very dangerous Height: 12 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 4 tons Speed: 28 mph Diet: Carnivore Primary Prey: Ceratopsians Habitat: Southwestern plains of Isla Sorna, grassy fields Weapons: Bite, speed Description: Daspletosaurus is a tyrannosaur that inhabits Isla Sorna. They hunts in packs of up to 10 members as subadults but adults are either solitary or hunt in pairs, sometimes taking their young along with them to teach them how to hunt. Like its descendant, Tyrannosaurus, males are dark brown to light green with black stripes and brown eyes while females are a solid brown to green, slightly larger and have yellow eyes. They actually closely resemble Tyrannosaurus rex down to the last detail but are slightly less robust, have longer legs, lighter bones and more prominent eye crests. Large females have been reported to grow up to 36 feet long in the wild. Interestingly, though they don't directly compete with any dinosaur full time, they loathe most other species, especially Allosaurus fragilis, and will fight them to the death. They occasionally form packs and interbreed with other tyrannosaurs but the packs are short lived being that they all share different habitats naturally and enjoy different prey. Daspletosaurus, for example, enjoys ceratopsians, Gorgosaurus specializes in hadrosaur hunting, Albertosaurus mostly takes speedy small prey and Teratophoneus is primarily a scavenger. They can and in one case did successfully breed with a Tyrannosaurus and the offspring were fertile. They closely resembled Tarbosaurus in shape and size but shared a color pattern with Tyrannosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Though they have never escaped, Daspletosaurus have badly injured two trainers by giving them affectionate bites. In spite of this every employee has stated that they enjoyed working with them due to their friendliness and easy trainability. They got their code name, "steel jaw", from one incident when a frightened Gigantoraptor kicked a Daspletosaurus in the jaw and left nothing more than a scratch while it would have shattered the jaw of most other dinosaurs. Despite the fact that it was found to be that the Gigantoraptor had only clipped it instead of actually kicked it full on the Daspletosaurus has been rumored to have survived adult bull Ankylosaurus tail blows to the face on the Internet, something that is impossible but still heavily rumored. The tyrannosaurs will be featured in the 2015 park as possibly another performing animal but if they can't perform without attacking they will instead be normal attractions. Tarascosaurus [img]http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news2/Top-10-European-Dinosaurs-3.jpg[/img] Code Name: Tarasque Danger Level: Very dangerous Also Known As: Dragon Height: 12 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 3 tons Speed: 30 mph Diet: Carnivore Primary Prey: Other carnivores Habitat: Eastern jungles of Isla Nublar, southwestern jungles and plains of Isla Sorna Weapons: Bite, speed, adaptive camouflage Description: Tarascosaurus is an abelisaur that hunts other carnivores, something it has in common with its larger cousin, Ekrixinatosaurus. Another feature it shares with a fellow abelisaur is its chameleon-like camouflage, though it can't change color nearly as fast or with as much skill as the master of disguise, Carnotaurus. It hunts the southwestern part of Isla Sorna as a predator of other predators and its adaptive camouflage helps it avoid the sharp senses of its prey and Tarascosaurus also lacks scent to help hide it. Though primarily eating Dilophosaurus-sized prey they will hunt prey as large as themselves on rare occasions. It hunts by crouching, changing its color, slowly and carefully approaching prey and then dashing at it and biting its neck. It will then hold on until the prey is dead. Though adults very rarely expose their real color, Tarascosaurus juveniles are smokey grey or light tan with black stripes on their back, a brown head and yellow eyes, a color scheme and pattern very similar to that of Ceratosaurus. However, instead of possessing the large nose and eye horns of Ceratosaurus they have a broad lumpy knob covered face with a row of short rounded spikes from neck to tail. They have tiny four fingered arms and long powerful legs and an average length tail. Their vision and hearing are average but their sense of smell is keen. Like Majungasaurus and many other abelisaurs they are cannibalistic and males will eat the young of females by swallowing them whole while their mother is away, whether it be their own or someone else's young. They are one of three known predators of the scavenging abelisaurs, the others being Skorpiovenator and Ekrixinatosaurus, as they are the only animals that aren't affected by the numerous diseases they carry. Tarascosaurus has drove the scavenger numbers down on the southwestern part of Isla Sorna, Ekrixinatosaurus has done it in the northwest, Skorpiovenator in the northeast and Tarascosaurus is spreading to the southeast and may drive the scavengers back into healthy numbers there as well. Because of their amazing skill at eradicating diseased and overpopulated scavenger abelisaurs, tamed and collared Tarascosaurus and Ekrixinatosaurus were released on Isla Nublar in the eastern jungles in 2009. As of August 2011 they have done their jobs and have since been recaptured. FIGHT! As rain falls for the first time in months after the longest drought ever to strike the five deaths, a Daspletosaurus male is walking through the knee high grass. He is enjoying the rain and hasn't a worry in the world. At least until the predator watching him attacks. A hungry Tarascosaurus is stalking the tyrannosaur, following his every footstep and gaining distance when he can. Thunder booms overhead and the Tarascosaurus takes advantage of the sound and edges closer, unheard. The Daspletosaurus steps in the mud and stops to play in it and that's when the abelisaur charges. The Tarascosaurus emerges from the grass and bites the Daspletosaurus on the neck. Before his teeth can leave a significant wound the two slip in the mud. The surprised Daspletosaurus roars and bites the Tarascosaurus' shoulder. His powerful jaws tear the hunter's arm all the way off and leave a gruesome wound that pours blood. The Tarascosaurus' shoulder bone hangs loosely by a few muscles. Surprisingly the Tarascosaurus shrugs off the wound quickly and digs its short but numerous teeth into the Daspletosaurus' arm as well. In the name of vengeance he twists and shakes the intended prey's arm. The Daspletosaurus roars loudly as his bones snap. Luckily he has long enough jaws to reach the Tarascosaurus. He clamps his jaws down hard on the abelisaur's head and feels it crack. He starts to readjust his jaws for a better bite when the Tarascosaurus shakes him off and bites his extended neck. Its smaller jaws can't quite get around it before the Daspletosaurus pulls back. The teeth tear the skin a little but he's not wounded bad. The two squirm around in the bloody mud for a while until the Tarascosaurus finally rolls off the Daspletosaurus and starts trying to stand. After a few minutes of almost comical trying the two short armed carnivores stand at nearly the same time. The Tarascosaurus takes a moment to get the grime off of him but the Daspletosaurus wastes no time, sinking his teeth into the Tarascosaurus' side. They tear up his scaly flesh but the abelisaur isn't one to take an attack without retaliation. He roars and snaps his mouth shut on the tyrannosaur's skull near the back. His own head hurts while doing it but it's worth it because he severely damaged the Daspletosaurus' jaw closing muscles with his attack. Ramming the Tarascosaurus with his shoulder the Daspletosaurus drops his attacker. The abelisaur roars from the ground and almost kicks the Daspletosaurus in the snout but the agile tyrannosaur jumps back and avoids it. Knowing the powerful legs of the Tarascosaurus can be deadly he looks at its talons and works out an attack plan. Stepping back he waits for the Tarascosaurus to get up. As soon as it does he runs at it and slams his jaws shut on its neck but they aren't powerful enough to crush with torn muscles. Knowing this he twists the neck down and uses his good arm to hold the Tarascosaurus in place while he pulls. The Daspletosaurus tears the Tarascosaurus' throat out and waits for it to die from blood loss. Already having lost a substantial amount of power after losing its whole arm and shoulder the Tarascosaurus gives out several weak roars before the tyrannosaur steps on its neck to end it. The predator has become the prey as the Daspletosaurus roars victoriously over his domain. An unmistakable sound, the Daspletosaurus' mate and hatchlings wander over to their father and enjoy the meal as a female Tyrannosaurus walks through the grass carrying part of an Edmontosaurus, making her way home after a hunting trip. WINNER: DASPLETOSAURUS [img]http://th09.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2013/127/7/d/season_1_dinosaur_of_the_week___daspletosaurus_by_thereawakeningseries-d64f325.png[/img] Bigger and packing a deadlier bite, the Daspletosaurus had the advantage where it mattered. It matched or almost matched the Tarascosaurus in speed, agility, strength, ferocity and determination. The Daspletosaurus had an advantage where it counts in primary weapons: jaws. A great fight but in the end the bigger and better armed animal wins. Questions? Comments? Predictions? Suggestions? Let me know and I'll respond as soon as possible!

Nice fight! I like the T-Rex cameo at the end, too.

It was just a last minute addition. The Tyralt Lizard will have a more prominent role in a future fight though, as will another animal that has yet to be revealed.

Amazing fight! I love the end Das pic, it is really cool and a great way to show my second favorite tyrannosaur. I can't wait for the second round.

Great fight. I knew you'd do a good job with my idea of Daspletosaurus vs Tarascosaurus, but it was great. Loved it.

It killed my expectations, chewed em up, and spit them out. Does that make sense? haha
