Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to my daily DinoFight. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, every day I pit two of the most formidable dinosaurs to ever exist against one another in a fight to the death (most of the time). Medium division, round 1, fight 16: Deltadromeus vs Kelmayisaurus InGen File: Deltadromeus [img]http://0.tqn.com/d/dinosaurs/1/0/L/Q/-/-/Deltadromeus-agilis.jpg[/img] Code Name: Roadrunner Danger Level: Very dangerous Height: 12 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 2 tons Speed: 45+ mph Diet: Carnivore Weapons: Bite, long arms and hands, speed, jumping ability Description: Deltadromeus is a common beach roamer of both Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar. They enjoy eating crocodiles but their most common food is Ouranosaurus. The Deltadromeus' biggest competition is Kaprosuchus, a highly aggressive land crocodile that occasionally preys on and is preyed upon by Deltadromeus. Deltadromeus is very fast, outclassed in speed only by some dromaeosaurs, ornithomimids and the larger Bahariasaurus which may be synonymous with it. It is unknown whether the two are the same as Deltadromeus may indeed be subadult Bahariasaurus that hunt in packs or possibly a subspecies. Either way both are very similar in every characteristic. Males are green with black snouts, several brightly colored pearlescent rings on their side and a row of raisable proto feathers on their neck similar to those of InGen's male Velociraptor. Its color scheme and pattern is extremely similar to that of the far larger Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, as is its tough crocodile-like skin. Females are a duller color, often being green or brown, ranging anywhere from light to dark green and mud colored to sandy tan. There is no size difference between sexes. Deltadromeus is identifiable by having very long legs, a cheetah-like build, long arms with long fingers and a dromaeosaur-like skull. They have been observed sprinting beyond 45 miles per hour, running alongside an InGen survey vehicle going 45, something they did with ease. Deltadromeus have been videoed running after and catching Gallimimus, a dinosaur known to exceed 60 miles per hour in speed. This footage was featured on the highly popular documentary "Dinosaurs Today" that aired on Discovery. One male in captivity jumped its fence and escaped, immediately running towards an armed keeper, picking him up and sprinting into the forest to never be seen again. For this reason Deltadromeus has earned a bad reputation and InGen staff have designed their new paddock to have a roof to prevent escape. InGen File: Kelmayisaurus [img]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110120141230/jurassicpark/images/4/45/JPI-Carcharodontosaurus.jpg[/img] Code Name: Killer Danger Level: Extremely dangerous Height: 13 feet Length: 35 feet Weight: 4.5 tons Speed: 33 mph Diet: Various herbivores Weapons: Bite, speed, large size Description: Kelmayisaurus was notorious for being violent. They were cannibalistic and frequently broke out, totaling around 13 times. They ate four workers and severely mauled over fifteen, then killed their future star sauropod, a "Brontosaurus", which was a one of a kind lab created hybrid of a Camarasaurus and Apatosaurus over their escapes. They now dwell in the mountain range of Sorna with the other carcharodontosaurids. Though smaller, they exceed them in aggression and intelligence. They are strategic and fast predators that often fight with other inhabitants of the valley, ranging anywhere from the Troodon to the largest Giganotosaurus alphas. Their teeth are very sharp and effective at inflicting fatal wounds on sauropods, though instead of attacking sauropods, most of the time they let the larger dinosaurs kill them before scaring them away. Due to their very huge packs and extremely aggressive behavior, larger dinosaurs often wait for them to finish before dining. Kelmayisaurus are usually dark brown in color with white or black stripes on their backs. There are two packs and the members of each are identical to the others in their pack and are all females because all of the originals were cloned from the same individual. The other pack are their offspring and have black stripes. They can reproduce without males because of their DNA mutation that likely came from frog DNA. Because of this, they are going to be excluded from the new park. They would need a larger paddock if they reproduced. DNA, as usual, is requested just in case. Only one individual, an alpha named Kelsey, is sterile and could be kept, but her entire pack would likely defend her and she, as we have learned, is impossible to capture. FIGHT! A male Deltadromeus is walking the coastal jungle of the northern part of Isla Sorna. He searches for a mate. Calling out loudly he risks attracting the predatory Carcharodontosaurus, a risk he is willing to take in order to get lucky. Suddenly the birds that were watching him in the nearby tries call out and fly away. He knows a Carcharodontosaurus is near and prepares. Suddenly a large male Carcharodontosaurus iguadensius bursts out of the cover of the bushes and sprints towards him. The much faster Deltadromeus easily sprints away from the threat and even toys with the large predator, pausing occasionally and flipping his neck quills up repeatedly as a taunt. He does this because the male knows a female is near and, as is traditional, he must impress her with a death defying stunt. She watches from the cover of a patch of ferns and is somewhat impressed. He sees she hasn't shown herself yet and steps up his game. The male stands in front of the Carcharodontosaurus and waits for it to lunge. When it does he sidesteps and then jumps on its head before leaping back off. Increasingly angry the Carcharodontosaurus roars loudly repeatedly in a strange pattern. The Deltadromeus is puzzled at first as to why the giant stopped attacking and is cautious but still trying to provoke it. Suddenly the female Deltadromeus steps out, sure the male has done the impossible and beat the Carcharodontosaurus. The male doesn't take his eyes off the eerily silent and calm giant but takes his place by his new mate. Then the others arrive. Unknown to the Deltadromeus, the Carcharodontosaurus has called his pack. At least seven other 45 foot long 10 ton giants emerge from the forest and stare down the pair. As the two look at each other the male knows that it is his job to escape the pack with both his and his mate's lives intact, both to finalize the courtship and save their lives. The two run immediately after the alpha moves and while far faster, they can't mow down trees like the Carcharodontosaurus can. They still are outrunning the pack. Now out of the jungle they hit the mountain region. They clamber up the rocks with the Carcharodontosaurus hot on their trail. They see their opportunity to escape- a large crack in the rocks. They jump over it and the female almost doesn't make it but her new mate helps her up. Just as she gets up the pack reaches the other side. One of the younger Carcharodontosaurus fall down the gap. Immediately a series of hisses and chirps follow as the giant pack of Troodon residing in the tunnels of the mountain approach the fallen juvenile. The others roar for a while before turning back. The gleeful pair growl excitedly and nuzzle each other before turning around to go find a nesting site. The sight they see is most unwelcome. A pack of Kelmayisaurus have emerged from the tunnels and stand in front of the Deltadtomeus. Luckily, the whole pack isn't going to attack. Instead the higher ranking Kelmayisaurus push a newer member out and force her to fight the Deltadromeus in order to join the elite ranks of their pack. The others back up and watch the match. The Deltadromeus male is defending his mate and pushes her gently away so he can handle this. He immediately charges the Kelmayisaurus. Not agile enough to dodge him the larger animal suffers a slash to the face. The lightning fast Deltadromeus is already back in his starting position by the time the Kelmayisaurus recovers. She realizes he won't be an easy challenge. The Kelmayisaurus charges him but he dodges her, tearing a strip of flesh off her shoulder. He spits it out and tears another off as she turns around. Her longer skull gives her some reach and she manages to catch him. Her slicing teeth tear off a huge chunk of flesh from his back. The Deltadromeus roars in pain and turns around fast. He ducks her headbutt and kicks her in the side. She teeters but her long tail counterbalances the weight and she's safe from falling. The Deltadromeus runs over and claws the back of her head before he tears a chunk of flesh from her neck. His mate roars and cheers him on but suddenly the Kelmayisaurus has the advantage after slamming him with the side of her head. The Deltadromeus hits the ground hard but rolls, landing back on his feet. The Kelmayisaurus knows she's failing her pack initiation and she must take the delta runner down as soon as she can. The Deltadromeus taunts the Kelmayisaurus by raising his neck quills repeatedly like he did with the larger Carcharodontosaurus. The Kelmayisaurus growls and zig zags towards the Deltadromeus. The speedy carnivore can't quite avoid her and is met with a shoulder to the face. He tumbles back and nearly falls down to the Troodon's lair but he digs his claws into the ground and stops just inches away. He feels the Kelmayisaurus' footsteps shaking the ground and tries to dodge her attack but suddenly she rams him and sends him flying into the hole. Luckily he catches the opposite edge with his long arms and starts trying to pull himself up. Sharp pain hits his tail when he's got his chest up and he pulls harder, pulling his legs, tail and a Troodon biting on to him up. The blinded dinosaur hisses and closes its eyes before the Deltadromeus kicks it back in the hole. He jumps the cracked ground and stands before the Kelmayisaurus. They circle each other for a while until the Kelmayisaurus lunges at him. It's a closer call than ever but the Deltadromeus leaps to the side. He runs at the Kelmayisaurus and meets her head on. The two go shoulder to shoulder in a shoving match. The smaller and weaker Deltadromeus is being pushed back and suddenly the two roll down the mountainside and land a distance down on a smaller surface than the one they were fighting on before. The Kelmayisaurus is up first and tries to stomp on the Deltadromeus but the agile delta runner squirms to avoid her feet. He kicks her in the jaw and stands up. The Deltadromeus sees a rock jutting out of the mountain above his head and uses it to his advantage. The Deltadromeus climbs up and stands on the rock. He waits for the Kelmayisaurus to turn and jumps, narrowly missing her because she jumped back but his foot still clips her face and leaves a deep cut. The Deltadromeus lies on the ground, dazed. The Kelmayisaurus stands over him and rips strips of his flesh off from his soft underbelly. He roars and slashes at her and bites her neck. He pulls his head back and the two almost tumble down further. Luckily the Kelmayisaurus pulls away and, while worsening the neck wound, saves herself. The carcharodontosaur waits for the Deltadromeus to get up. She bites his upper back and he tries to free himself but he's nearing death and losing power. Suddenly his mate tackles his attacker. She helps him up and the two stand in front of the Kelmayisaurus. The pack looks down the hill at the pair. Although prepared to meet death together, the pack surprisingly doesn't attack. Their pack member has passed the challenge and they call her back. The Deltadromeus may have lost this battle but he will survive to fight another day with the aid of his new mate. The Kelmayisaurus pack retreats into a crevice as the Deltadromeus make their way into the forest to find a home. WINNER: KELMAYISAURUS [img]http://planetdi.startlogic.com/dinosaur_list/images/charcarodontosaurus_and_aegyptosaurus_db.jpg[/img] Sorry if the end is a little rough but I couldn't kill the Deltadromeus. He just found a mate! As much as I like Deltadromeus (quite possibly my favorite dino) the Kelmayisaurus won because it was just too big and powerful in the long run and was also more durable. Plus, it was far more agile than the Carcharodontosaurus the Deltadromeus was used to dodging. Its size advantage was more than enough to ensure a win in a head to head clash. NEXT FIGHT: DASPLETOSAURUS [img]http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/naturelibrary/images/ic/credit/640x395/d/da/daspletosaurus/daspletosaurus_1.jpg[/img] The father of the most famous dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus. Daspletosaurus was fast, agile, powerful and deadly. TARASCOSAURUS [img]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_R3alTV6BaSE/TSEntw-lQlI/AAAAAAAAC_0/QC7FIiC6MHQ/s1600/tarascosaurus_by_atrox1.jpg[/img] This abelisaur has a powerful build like most other abelisaurs and a deadly bite. Also, being that this is in the JP universe, it has a mild chameleon ability. Questions? Comments? Predictions? Suggestions? Let me know and I'll respond as soon as possible!

A few things I like in particular 1. The Deltadromeus mating ritual. Very creative! 2. The Deltadromeus having a strange color pattern 3. The Discovery Documentary part. It's probably what would happen if dinosaurs were brought back to life. 4. The possible symonymization of Bahariasaurus and Deltadromeus you mentioned 5. The crest taunting was a cool mental image 6. Countless other things. GREAT JOB!

That last part was sorta confusing, but the entire thing was great. I'm just going to assume that Cleo gave you most of your ingen file traits. I'm glad you didn't kill the Deltadromeus, and you did it in a spectacular way.
